Boeing is struggling to complete 787 fuselage sections in South Carolina since a production rate increase, and sections are arriving in Everett more unfinished and problematic than before.
Since late last year, Boeing 787 Dreamliner fuselage sections from North Charleston, S.C., have arrived at the Everett final assembly line seriously incomplete with wiring and hydraulics lines missing, according to multiple sources in the factory.
The poorly done work out of Charleston threatens to undermine the companys plans to deliver 10 Dreamliners a month and fulfill the much-delayed jet programs original promise.
Its snowballing. The planes are getting worse out of Charleston, said one senior Everett employee who oversees the production status of the airplanes.

Curious as to whom is responsible for ordering the incomplete sections being shipped from Charleston to Everett. This is a management problem as management is responsible for the workers. Workers union, or not are not in charge of anything.
I don’t know where the new Mercedes-Benz automobiles are manufactured in the United States, but there is a noticeably significant deterioration in the workmanship and quality of the cars compared to ones made in Germany.
Moulding flush and mould parting marks on the door knobs and window switches? Sheesh.
It is just growing pains with an inexperienced work force.
Really? And how many quota babies were they required to hire to keep the racist scumbag Eric Holder off of their backs?
Not labor problem, a QA and management problem. The fish rots from the head back
Go buy a union made GM then
The print newspaper version of the story had a photo of electrical cabling with the connectors dangling in the air — Charleston had failed to plug in the wires or even remove the protective plastic from the connectors. Yet a QA inspector had signed off A-OK.
Well, that, too. I certainly wouldn’t want to leave out those contributions.
I remember buying a near mint Bausch & Lomb binocular. It was made in 1943 in Rochester New York. The quality was about as good as it gets and it was an extremely sharp optic. Far better than 90% of those made today.
I recall reading Saburo Sakai’s autobiography. He flew a captured American B-17 and was extremely impressed with the quality of the instruments, workmanship of the plane etc.
Americans can produce the highest quality. They just need to be made to do so.
Yikes.
The Mercedes plant is outside Tuscaloosa, AL, about 10 miles from the main campus of the University of Alabama.
Seattle Press.
MSM and very liberal.
‘Nuff said.
They’re blowing it outta their Obamahole.
My dad was a small partner in a GM dealership in the 60's-80's, back when the quality really, really sucked. And back then, when Detroit had a gazillion options..most people didn't buy a car off the lot, they ordered one to their specs. It was general industry knowledge that cars built on Mondays and Fridays had as many as 2-3 times the number of defects as cars built mid-week. The workers on Monday were hung over from the weekend, and on Friday, they just wanted to get the hell out of the place..so they slapped the cars together. There were production schedulers in Detroit who made fortunes by taking "gifts" from dealers to make sure that their orders were built on Tues/Wednesday/Thursday.
RE: “And how many quota babies were they required to hire”
South Carolina is 28% Black, so I guess at least 28%.
There is one important distinction to keep in mind about Blacks from the Old South, however.
There is still a large population that lives in rural and farming communities.
The difference between country Blacks and urban Blacks is often the difference between night and day.
The country folks are often hard workers, polite, religious, and kind hearted.
Unfortunately, cable TV is everywhere, so even that distinction has begun to break down.
What you say is exactly right and I don’t think I have ever heard anyone else say it. When I was in grad school, I did a study in a demogrphics class comparing homicide rates with percentage of the population which was Black. This was for Florida and I ranked the counties from 1-69 in several areas for the study.
There was a positive correlation but there was something else I noticed. I did not run the numbers but it was obvious that the old plantation belt in Florida, mostly around and West of Tallahassee had a high percentage of Blacks but not a corresponding high rate of murders. These were all rural counties.
The combination of high population density with high percentage of Blacks was where the murder rates went really high.
No, they don't! They are airing company start-up problems to the public as a union propaganda tool.
Well I would not put much into this article, it is a known fact the unions in Everett are not happy some of their work moved to SC. I have been in a union and I have seen guys “undo” things and blame it on non union workers. I am sure from the Everett union nothing done in SC is any good.....
I'm sure the Charleston bashing has got NOTHING to do with this.../s
