You can't just shut down the existing canal to expand it like you shut down lanes on your freeways. That's what they're doing in Panama. Panama Canal Expansion Project

They are just widening and deepening as far as I know. Reply 12 has a link to an article about plans for China to build a new canal in Nicaragua.

Problem: An international consortium led by a Spanish construction company
Solution: America takes over, again.

Good ideas. Having alternatives are always good and, in this specific case, will lower the price negotiations.

Ever heard of Operation Plowshare? The concept was the civilian, peacetime use of atom bombs. So one interesting application was to blast a new canal through Nicaragua (they put the canal in Panama because there was a lake there they could dredge, but Nicaragua is flatter).
So plans were being made and as a test they used conventional explosives to make a huge crater at National Test Site. Next step was a beefy nuke (100kt) buried a couple hundred feet down (Operation Sedan). Well Sedan made a big crater, all right, but the amount of contamination was way more than acceptable even by 1962 standards. The stuff was supposed to be contained but it vented and was the single largest fallout exposure to humans of any of our shots.
So they scrapped the project. But it still makes sense to do something there other than the canal that used to be ours.

The Panama Canal was returned to Panama, however it is #44 on the NWO list to Internationalize, in other words take from Panama for the UN to manage for all countries? Is that what they mean by “Internationalize” now?
So the US giving it back to Panama may not have been a good idea. Poor Panamanians, always get the short end.

This reminds me of an article that all should read.
Sea Gates in Peril
The United States and the United Kingdom once dominated the world's seas. The Bible predicted the rise of these nations' sea power, and offers a sobering warning about their decline.
Vital sea gatesocean passageways such as the Panama Canal and the Straits of Gibraltarare changing hands as the 20th century draws to a close. Yet these changes, so critical to global commerce and regional defense, seldom rate front-page headlines.
For nearly two centuries, the United States and Britain (or friendly allies) have controlled nearly all of these important sites. In fact, the possession of these strategic sea gates was directly responsible for the emergence of America and Britain as world powers. Most politicians and Western secular media appear oblivious to the real significance of these changes, yet the Bible provides sobering insights as to why these transfers are occurring and where they will lead. You cannot afford to ignore what is taking place right before our eyes!
(Continued)
Read it all, because
it's well worth your time.
