The U.S. military has deployed a small number of uniformed trainers and advisers to the failed state of Somalia for the first time since 1993, when two helicopters were shot down and 18 Americans were killed in the failed Black Hawk Down operation.
A cell of U.S. military personnel has been stationed in the Somali capital of Mogadishu since last fall to advise and coordinate operations with African troops fighting to wrest control of the country from the al-Shabab militia, an Islamist group whose leaders have professed loyalty to al-Qaeda, according to three U.S. military officials.
The previously undisclosed deployment of fewer than two-dozen troops reverses two decades of U.S. policy that effectively prohibited military boots on the ground in Somalia. Even as Somali pirates and terrorists emerged as the top security threat in the region, successive presidential administrations and the Pentagon shied away from sending troops there for fear of a repeat of the Black Hawk Down debacle.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
The only thing we should be deploying to that sh!thole, is our nuclear waste.
Not again.
Is there a country, save for perhaps the DPRK, where we don’t have a contingent of troops? No wonder congress wants to cut retiree and disability pay. Imperial Rome, in it’s heyday, didn’t station troops everywhere.
Caesar can send he legions where he pleases.
Too be fair, our spineless, corrupted Congress also deserves their share of the blame for acquiescing to the establishment of the imperial presidency over the past decades.
Not. A. Good. Idea.
Well, I thought if I said it slowly, the people at the NSA could tell 0bama, and maybe he would understand.
Nah.

“Not again.”
My God. Do we never learn?
As I recall, “the Black Hawk Down debacle” was due solely to micromanagement by, or the ineptness of, the BJ Clinton team.
To date, Obama has failed to start a war in the US and after searching the world over, maybe he has finally found a place for a war he can finally call his own.
Bombed Libya
SEAL raids in Libya and Somalia
Drone strikes in Somalia
Support aircraft for the Mali invasion
Support aircraft moving troops to CAR
Just add this to the new African entanglement list.
Those advisors are not issued and ammunition and are not allowed to defend themselves under mac daddies rules.
Another great foreign policy move by the clueless mac daddy administration that has no credibility.
And when they decide to send them into harms way with ammunition they will deny them armor.
What could possibly go wrong?

Take up the White Man’s burden—
And reap his old reward:
The blame of those ye better,
The hate of those ye guard—
The cry of hosts ye humour
(Ah, slowly!) toward the light:—
“Why brought he us from bondage,
Our loved Egyptian night?”
Take up the White Man’s burden—
Ye dare not stoop to less—
Nor call too loud on Freedom
To cloke your weariness;
By all ye cry or whisper,
By all ye leave or do,
The silent, sullen peoples
Shall weigh your gods and you.
Take up the White Man’s burden—
Have done with childish days—
The lightly proferred laurel,
The easy, ungrudged praise.
Comes now, to search your manhood
Through all the thankless years
Cold, edged with dear-bought wisdom,
The judgment of your peers!
I fear you may have cast this pearl before swine....
That entire toilet of a country isn’t worth the life of one more American military member.
If Obama wants to sacrifice some more Americans in another African fly-blown pest hole let him send in some democrat senators and congress critters.
Kipling must have forseen the coming of an Obama when he closed the first stanza of “The White Man’s Burden” with this line:
“Half-devil and half-child.”
> U.S. has deployed military advisers to...
This never ends well.
