I watched a couple of DD episodes last night (one in which they tried to capture a beehive for the honey).

Those guys are nuts...and naturals at comedy.

A&E ran a bunch of “A Duck Dynasty” shows on Sunday. I finally sat down and watched a couple of them.

I had never seen the show. My wife rented their Christmas show on DVD and we watched it friday.

I want the 15 minutes back I spent watching the first 15 minutes. I listened to the rest while I did some work on the computer. It didn’t get better.

I have nothing against the show or the people on it, but watching a bunch of people just living their lives and doing stuff is a piss-poor way to try to entertain or educate myself. Maybe it’s because I live on my own 32 acres and can enjoy the same sorts of stuff they do without ever leaving my property, from turkeys to deer to squirrels. Maybe “city slickers” can let their inner outdorrsman live vicariously through their show. I dunno.

They are good family people who contribute a lot to the nation, from creating jobs to keeping our traditions intact.

They stand for faith, family, free enterprise and guns. Everything that liberals hate.

I recently discovered it, too, (before the controversy.) I really like it. My favorite is Uncle Si. My favorite episode so far is the one where Uncle Si bought a poodle to fetch his ducks after he shot them!

I never watched an episode before last night, and to be honest if it were not for this controversy I may have never watched it.

And it wasn’t what I expected.

I am not saying I am a forever fan, but I will probably watch it again for one reason; these guys, and the show is like able. There is not a snarky, cynical hateful bone in any of them, and given our present day politics of the left and entertainment media in general, whoever picks up this show will get a new fan that A&E never had.

Seen the ads A&E put out and had no desire to watch it, I figured they were just going to make fun of country people in the south. So on a lark I watched one show, thought uncle Si to be the greatest uncle ever. I laughed and laughed at the antics (scripted I’m sure) of these people but in the end, the family at one table, Phil saying the blessing sold me on the show.
I thought how weird it was for this kind of show to be on A&E of all places. Hardly a network of family values.

I hope DD doesn’t go away, but moves, because I will follow it until the Robertsons say they are done.

Merchandise: Duck Dynasty gear is owned by A+E. Duck Commander gear is owned by the Robertsons.

FYI

Fourth, I saw the Christmas play episode. We enjoyed the family putting a Nativity play at church and treating their friends to food and gifts. >>>>>>>>>>>>

Frankincense?

Si: That’s “franken-scent!” Everyone knows that franken is a prefix...frankenstein,frankenfurter,frankenberry

Chris Wallace appeared on the Mike Gallagher Show and told the host that he’s a huge fan of Duck Dynasty and never misses an episode.

I like Chris, but frankly would never have spotted him as a regular DD viewer.

I don’t have a TV, so I do not watch these programs, but saw a segment on youtube. They are not all that exciting, but they do exude common sense with a lot of humor and wit. I feel that the country loves them because they take us back to a time when this WAS America. EVen more sophisticated among us can enjoy and take heart that there is still hope for America. It’s a reminder that not all is lost yet. I know most young people today are NOT being raised in church settings, so for some of them, it is probably interesting to see Christianity portrayed in such a way.

I’ve only watched one episode. They were tearing out beaver dams and talking about how destructive beavers are. Given my ongoing battle with beavers, I thought these guys are great.

On the show you have a group of men who in real life have spent substantial time hunting and fishing. Most persons who have done such do have real events happen to them. I remember two of my dads friends he hunted with and hiked back country with us when I was younger. One trip supposed to be a Tree Rat hunt my dad spots a half grown coon. His friend ask where was it. A few minutes later we were in the process of a successful and some what hilarious capture we laughed about for years. You never heard such squaling and yelling. Both the coon and my dads friend who had it wrapped in his jacket trying to not get hurt. LOL

Another trip different friend we were back country camping & Trout fishing in the mountains and a black bear was showing up at camp. Dads friend decided to scare it off with his pistol. He fires twice but not at the bear the bear runs off. He waits about an hour and walks aways from camp to see if the bear is still around. He comes back with a rather pale look about him and we asked what happened. He said my rounds misfired BOTH OF THEM LOL. A two shot pistol LOL.

Next trip to the same area we stopped to eat lunch at a hiking shelter and a bear was walking around but thats not that uncommon. So dads friend starts chucking rocks saying look at that stupid old boar and yelling GIT Outta Here. About 15 minutes into it the Boar as he called it's two Cubs come climbing down a tree.

My point is these guys likely have story upon story of their life long experiences as sportsmen for plot ideas. Ones who don't hunt or fish may not catch the humor.
