From the top of the Drudge Report to every major media outlet, a GQ interview with the founding father of the Robertson clan of Duck Dynasty fame is making waves for so-called anti-gay remarks.
In rather graphic and blunt language, Phil Robertson describes the complementary anatomy of men and women leading to natural attraction.
Beyond that, Robertson responded to the question, What, in your mind, is sinful?
Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there, he said. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."
Dont be deceived, he added, paraphrasing Scripture. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlersthey wont inherit the kingdom of God. Dont deceive yourself. Its not right.
Media outlets slammed Robertsons comments as bashing gays and anti-gay. And homosexual activist group GLAAD said, Phil's decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors who now need to re-examine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families."
Robertson issued a response to the controversy that reinforced his point rather than backed down from it. "I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior, he said today. My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together.
Robertson concluded, However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other."
Robertson is not the only public personality defending his remarks. Fox News & Commentary host Todd Starnes took to Twitter to say, Mainstream Media STUNNED to find out that Duck Dynasty staff believes in the teachings of the Bible. He added later, Shouldnt Americans be allowed to hold personal beliefs -- even if you don't agree with them?
They will savagely target the shows sponsors.
Oops. Now them sissie boys stepped in it going up against the Duck Dynasty. This is a battle they will lose.
And I'd bet ya a cup of coffee Beck would pick them up faster than goose crap through a tin horn, and more people would sign up for him or finally the big cable people would carry him.....
bump
There was nothing hateful about the comment, of course
And all the other networks are praying they'll be that stupid so someone else can pick up the show.
I am now a fan.
I am now MUCH more likely to watch.
No, but it's refreshing to see people sticking to their guns and calling them out on their hypocrisy rather than pull a cave-o-matic and embark on a 57-state apology tour like conservatives usually do.
He seems to have bashed the zoophiles too!
Oh the outrage!
Oh the twisted panties!
It always amazes me how so many people who are atheists get so upset when you tell them that something they are doing is a sin.
Like, you don’t even believe there IS a God, why do you care what the non-existent God doesn’t want you to do?
Anyway, the left knows what sin is — smoking cigarettes, being part of the tea party, liking monogamous life-time relationships with the opposite sex.
They are on on Wednesdays
Exactly! If you’re confident there is no God, just feel sorry for me in my stupidity and we’ll agree to find out who’s right later. Stop trying to tell me what it means to be Christian when you make no claim to being one.
Apparently not. The more tolerant than thou libs cannot allow belief in the bible.
That is such a good analysis - I'm gonna file that one in the front of my brain ... :)
The very reasonableness of his remarks will infuriate the gays even worse than the most violent anti-gay rhetoric. Hardcore queer-bashing is anathema to everyone, so denouncing it is preaching to the choir.
These remarks, on the other hand, have the potential to give people a respite from the all pervading “gay is great” narrative, and therefore must be beaten back at all costs.

No backing down!
Sick of the idea that “some groups or people” are immune from criticism.
Sick of the idea that abnormal sexual behavior is to be celebrated.
And I will never accept the false proposition that homosexual behavior is as normal as heterosexual behavior. The number of particpants and nature’s purpose say otherwise, and I don’t need any religion involved to know that.
I’m sorry, only liberals are “entitled to air their opinions”.
I don’t think that he said anything offensive.
I am having a similar problem. As editor of a local Jewish newsletter, I refused to include news about someone’s “wedding” to her partner. A lot of liberal Baby Boomers are members of our organization; they will hate my guts and I will probably have to resign.
My prediction: it will be increasingly difficult for anyone conservative to work or socialize in the outside world. They will retreat to their own work spaces or communities.
Although I never watched the show (or own a TV), this guy Robertson sounds like one big man.
