Senate Conservatives Fund Endorses Matt Bevin to oust Mitch McConnell

LEXANDRIA, VA — The Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) endorsed Louisville businessman Matt Bevin for U.S. Senate in Kentucky on Friday. Matt Bevin is challenging U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in the Republican primary election on May 20, 2014.

SCF Executive Director Matt Hoskins made the following statement:

"Matt Bevin is a true conservative who will fight to stop the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are destroying our country. He is not afraid to stand up to the establishment and he will do what it takes to stop Obamacare. We know that winning this primary won't be easy. Mitch McConnell has the support of the entire Washington establishment and he will do anything to hold on to power. But if people in Kentucky and all across the country rise up and demand something better, we're confident Matt Bevin can win this race."

SCF recently asked its members for their views on the Kentucky Senate race. Nearly 70,000 members completed the survey and 90% said SCF should endorse Matt Bevin over Mitch McConnell.

You must be a party hack.

We’re DONE with the Ruling Class GOP - and I’m going to do everything I can to OUST and DITCH MITCH here in this Commonwealth.

McConnell is WORSE than any Left-wingtard Democrat. He’s a TRAITOR to the Conservative cause, to the Constitution and to decency with his graft and corruption.

The ads he ran against Bevin are proof positive that he is lower than slime and more criminal than the usual thugs of Cook County Democrats who do their master’s bidding.

We HAVE a continuing FIASCO with McConnell representing KY - PERIOD. END OF SENTENCE.

But being a Ruling Class Party Hack - you think it’s all about the party.

We lost on Obamacare because we didn’t have the votes. If you recall, the Dems. had 60 votes in the Senate when that passed and they all voted for it. I understand your frustration, but the objective should be to retain the House and win the Senate in 2014 and we aren’t going to do that by taking out republican incumbents who may only agree with you 80% of the time. There are actually some people who are conservative “purists” that delude themselves into thinking someone like Ted Cruz can be elected to President in 2016. I am old enough to remember when that same kind of passion nominated Barry Goldwater thinking he could defeat Lyndon Johnson and sweep in a consevative wave. We all saw how that went and therefore got “The Great Society”.

The Kentucky kickback is not the reason he is unpopular. In fact, that would make him more popular in Kentucky because its for an important dam that’s falling apart.

He’s unpopular because he has zero leadership skills, and is Harry Reid’s puppet. Did he vote with us on the cloture or the final deal? No. Did he come out strongly for Ted Cruz when he needed support from his fellow senate Republicans? No. Did he push back against Sen. McShame’s disgusting attacks on conservatives? No.

And what about the accusation that he called Freedomworks and other groups ‘traitors’?

And perhaps the most damning fact. When former senator Jim Bunning was unpopular, McConnell pushed him into retirement ‘for the good of the party’. Now Mitch is just as unpopular and he won’t take his own advice.

There is a hard-core group of some 40 percent of KY Republicans who are liberal and whose roots go back to McC’s mentor, the late ultra-liberal John Sherman Cooper.

“Party Hack”. Damn, you sound like a Liberal in a debate. When the facts fail, start “name calling”. At any rate, one thing I learned as an Army Officer is don’t go into battle unless you plan to win. Sometimes it pays to “count the votes”.

Another popular figure with these “moderate” KY Republicans was the one-term Senator Marlow Cook, who didn’t even support McC in 1984, when it was unknown how liberal McC would become.

And so, you’ll be voting for another McCain?
Chris Christie? Jeb Bush? After all, they’re the only candidates who can win. That’s why we have President Romney.

No way after the JFK assassination that a Republican was going to win in 64. It didn’t matter who the nominee was.

I have some questions for you

A) Who would be the conservative choice? (obvious)

B) Why do you think Matt Bevin would lose the seat?

I will vote for anybody who has a chance of winning and defeating the Democrat candidate. I count myself as a conservative, but many, many times I have held my nose and voted for the lesser of the evils and when it comes to politicians, I am of the opinion that they are ALL self centered and self serving manipulators. By the way, my daugter in laws parents (also retired Army) live in KY and will be voting for Mc Connell.

Nope. Bevin has taken the conservative position on every issue since getting into the race. Mitch has done the opposite.

We’ll take a Rubio, Cruz, Lee or Rand Paul. All were opposed by the party and won the primary and election. Of course there is tommy Thompson in Wisconsin, George Allen in Virginia and Connie Mack in Florida that were the party choices and not only lost but dragged down the presidential tickets with lackluster campaigns. Shumer and Reid run the senate because our senate campaign infrastructure stinks and loses easy seats all the time like North Dakota and Colorado that each should have been pickups. When DC was pickng the candidates and not the voters we had 60 democrat senators. Once the base got involved, we’ve picked up a lot and moved the senate to the right.
