If they delay it by one year it is going to be one big mess with all the people who have been dumped from their insurance at work to push them into the exchanges.

I have Io say reading this thread is entertaining.
First, there will be no delay. The senate will reject this as early as tomorrow,

Second. The dens not being able to hold caucus together is funny. The one thing they are is unified. The republican caucus is cracked up and down. Should Boehner put a clean CR out there it would pass easy.

Third the Dems will be blamed. Read a poll. There are plenty out there all showing same thing. Congress specifically house republicans will be blamed:

Fourth. A shutdown is no big deal. This is said every time there is a shutdown. Yet one side caves pretty quick because real world problems come up. All Feds that work get IOU ‘s which trickle down to landlords, shop owners, grocers ect ect. I put the under over at a week. The r’s will cave and not only will we be no better but actually worse because we held out then caved and lost.

Lastly I know I will get flamed for this and I will fight for the cause. I am only telling you this. Mark this post and talk to me in 10 days. The train wreck coming is obvious. With that said I will climb in the engine with you. Maybe I am wrong.

Agreed. This move is good, considering they wilted earlier this week and defunding Obie care is not on the table. Time to move to the next best option. I and they may be encouraged by the PPP poll showing conservatives turning right, and Tea Party resurgence.

There will likely be a shutdown, but now we've got Ted Cruz leading the charge. The House pubbies are reportedly thrilled with the strength of this stance, so they too will be loudly and widely shouting the despicable condition of Obiecare: the exemptions, the costs, the privacy issue, the unions, the exchanges, the delays, EVERYTHING about it is screwed up.

A one year delay makes it an election issue. We're gonna' kill the bastards, just like 2010, which is where we find the final answer.

I may be wrong, but my understanding is when the govt shuts down military personnel will still be paid, social security checks will still go out, medicare and medicaid will still be paid so where's the pressure on the Pubs? It's the Rat base that works for the civilian wing of the govt. If I'm right as the pressure mounts on the Rats the Pubs my be able to leverage a lot of things into the final agreement.

I think you’re likely correct on all points. The GOPe has not shown enough backbone to hold any plan together. But they’re sure as heck not going to if *we* don’t know what to plan for.

The point is the GOPe needs to try. They need to put up little roadblocks, little billboards like this day in and day out. They need to make the difference between the GOP and Democrats as public as possible as often as possible.

Defunding is the opening position. Stick to it as long as you can.

I'll tell you where the pressure will come from: THE MEDIA. They will LIE through their teeth telling the low information voters that grandma and grandpa aren't getting their social security checks so they can't eat, can't go to the doctor, and that the "tea party wing of the Republican party" is trying to kill them.

It won't work. The shut down won't stop SS, or medicare. The only group that might get hit that we care about is military personnel.

History is doomed to repeat itself here because the Republican Party doesn't have the message out that a "shutdown" doesn't mean Grandma and Grandpa will go hungry, homeless or die.

We can only hope! We won the last shutdown BIG TIME! The budget was brought under control which is what the battle was all about. Also, with no conservative, or honest media, in the market at the time the Pubs ended up only losing 2 seats in the House.

Delay is entrenchment. It gives them time to get their act together while the alternatives slowly die.

I agree Okie.. They aren't ready for the start, Oct 1st, and won't be ready until spring.. This delay will allow them to get the obvious bugs out..

BUT, the longer this thing dangles, the Dem's and Obonga squirm in open sight.. There is a chance the polls keep dipping and we get more and more leverage to modify, change, delete, and improve the piece of crap, the better..

This law will never be entirely cancelled, bet the farm on it, but if we are going to be stuck with it, it can be improved, a lot..

We ALSO need to go FULL BLAST to make CERTAIN our Military votes get delivered on time AND COUNTED!!!!!! Enough of the horse crap of them “not getting there in time”!!!!!!!

I got a letter from my insurance company yesterday (Blue Cross) that said my current plan would be discontinued and I needed to get one of the Obamacare plans. Oh, and they doubled my premium too. I didn’t find that out until page three of the notice.

I don’t know what they’re going to do if this thing gets delayed.
