Ted Cruz has sparked a Republican civil war. He has done the bidding of the GOP fringe, in a self-aggrandizing crusade. And while he has enhanced his own position in the conservative fantasyland he seeks to rule, the practical effect of his quixotic campaign to defund Obamacare has been to elevate the president and jeopardize the 2014 elections for his own party.

I did... he gets in his rino licks and then praises the effort. I do not buy it.

What this communist-apologist has wrought is the termination of our Weekly Standard reading habit. To hell with the new left wing WS. It was pretty good but that died several years ago. If We wanted to read pro-socialist propaganda do you think I
We need the WS for that ?

“Ted Cruz has sparked a Republican civil war.”

Well, viva la revolution!

I want to be civil ... Awe nuts! The heck I do! I called my senator’s office this morning, and as usual had to converse with some pimple-faced wet-behind-the-ears staffer, who thought he could pull the wool over my eyes ... I read him the riot act! Listed several pieces of legislation on which Senator Mike Johanns has voted contrary to the wishes of his conservative base:

1.) The “Affordable” Health Care Act

2.) The 800 BILLION DOLLAR Farm Bill (80 percent being food stamps - and the remaining 20 percent being government-subsidized price guarantees

3.) The National Defense Authorization Act, which allows indefinite detainment w/o trial of American citizens, for “suspicion” - not even probable cause - of an “intent” (not even actionable) to commit “terrorist acts” ... a very dangerous standard, considering the “memo” the DHS put out a few years ago - a memo that defines what may constitute who is likely predisposed to commit a terrorist act: basically any American who “clings” to traditional Christian values and defends the Constitution!

3.) START II Treaty, which gave Russia a tactical advantage on nuclear weapons

4.) Defunding of NSA’s wholesale domestic spying activities

5.) The Food “Safety” Bill - which has nothing to do with safe food and everything to do with government control of agriculture, animal husbandry and keeping of seed stock - plausibly affecting such control all the way down to the typical backyard vegetable garden.

And probably several other legislative acts that I cannot recall at the moment!

Senator Deb Fischer’s office was complete evasive - all her staffer would say was that she was against Obamacare, but the staffer would not tell me how my junior senator was going to vote on the CR cloture measure!

If I were any madder, I could chew nails and spit staples into their butts! ARRRRRRGGGGGUH!!!!

OK, do I feel a little better? No, not really!

Yeah, it’s misleading, but that’s one of the few tricks these hacks know to make a story “interesting”. Shock the reader/viewer up front enough, and you might grab their attention.

It wasn’t our side who sparked a Civil War. In any case, one is sorely needed now.

He had me scared during that 1st paragraph. And I was about to go on an anti-Fox News tirade. Now I can’t wait to see his first paragraph show up in a RINO attack ad against Cruz during the primary trying to show how many “conservatives” hate Cruz. Sort of like when they tried to make the case that Newt was more liberal than Romney.

It’s very similar to what Gingrich has said, that the Republicans in Washington never want to do anything hard. Cruz has the same fight in him that led Gingrich to the top of the heap.

The writer is actually giving Cruz and friends a pat on the back, although not with much enthusiasm. He is admitting that Cruz and pals have managed to bring Obamacare into the forefront of discussions, which is a good thing.

We should not be too dismissive of the author.

Stephen Hayes: Lilly-livered coward with no moral compass. Go along to get along the heck with the consequences.

That, at least, seems to be the consensus in Washington.

There are the KEYWORDS to the entire article.

Washington D.C. is inside its own little bubble and disconnected from the rest of America.

The sooner we burst that bubble the sooner we will see some glimpses of common sense thinking again.

What’s posted is just an excerpt. What’s with that when there’s no indication it’s just an excerpt?

For what it’s worth, Deb Fisher voted NO on cloture.
