MSNBC's Hayes: Tea Party 'Broke' Washington to 'Impose Economic Suffocation on the Country'
NewsBusters ^ | Sept 16, 2013 | By Brad Wilmouth

Posted on 09/16/2013 10:06:33 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

On Friday's All In show, MSNBC host Chris Hayes asserted that "Washington is broken because the Tea Party broke it," adding that the Tea Party strategy on changing the budget process was to "impose economic suffocation." Hayes:

Washington is broken because the Tea Party broke it. They broke it on purpose. They broke the normal budgetary process, replaced it with government recurring crisis, all so they can use control of one-half of one branch of government to impose economic suffocation on the country as a whole.

The MSNBC host's comments came as he began the show by fretting over polls finding that Americans who do not want Congress to authorize an increase in the debt ceiling outnumber those who do. Hayes began:

Tonight on All In, we could be just five legislative days away from a government implosion, but a shocking 44 percent of Americans agree with Republicans that we should send the country into an economic abyss.

After delivering plugs for other stories, he returned to the debt ceiling issue:

But we begin tonight with a new poll that shows a plurality of Americans favoring imminent catastrophe. The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows 44 percent of Americans opposed to raising the debt ceiling, with only 22 percent in favor.

He then added:

Now, at first blush, that is both an upsetting and staggering finding since not raising the debt ceiling would mean a government default and all the cascading miseries that come after that. But, of course, what this poll actually shows is that no one really understands what the debt ceiling really means.

Well, we haven't quite broke it yet, but it definitely needs breaking. Btw, the Democrat Senate broke the budget process. They simply refuse to pass a budget because they don't want the Republican House using its constitutional authority to limit government spending. And the feckless Boehner, et al, are too weak and spineless to do anything about it.

There are several pieces floating around the media today with this same meme.

Combine that with Obama’s speech and a coordinated theme emerges.

“It’s the Tea Party’s fault that you’re still out of a job!”

Quite Stalinesque of them, I must say.

I can’t beleive they have gone 5 YEARS without a budget!!

My theory is that they cannot pass a budget because they will be limitted to BASELINE budget limits of 5 years ago.

And BOHNER IS THE MOST LAME-ASS SPEAKER IN HISTORY

I think Speaker Boehner could use a few pointers from Speaker Gingrich.

We have economic suffocation all right. But in no possible or logical manner could it be tied to the efforts of the T.E.A. party. If anything, the T.E.A. people are like the person trying to throw the pillow OFF his (or her) face.

We haven’t had a budget since the democrats owned both houses. It’s broken because the democrats in the Senate keep writing budgets even they won’t vote for.

Socialists believe that government is the source of economic wealth. They also believe that it is the source of our rights.

The first belief is stupid. The second is dangerous.

I don't know if I'd say "MOST". Denny Hastert was pretty lame-assed as well. I'd say Boehner is the most recent in a long line of lame-assed (RINO) House speakers.

Regardless of who is doing what Has anyone given any thought to suffocating our innocent voiceless children with 17 trillion in debt after its no longer viable to print money like its Monopoly money?

I’m sure the couple of griwn ups in Washington have.

Obama is the guy suffocating the economy. His idiotic Marxist/fascist policies are driving the country into the ground.

Yep....that’s what I’d tell Chris to his face. Choke it, stomp it, starve it, beat it and kill it.....kill it all and erase it’s mark of ever having been there.
