In May, TheBlaze told you about Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, an Oregon-based bakery that has fallen under intense scrutiny. Throughout 2013, the Christian couple and their business have been in the midst of a media firestorm after refusing to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.
From threats to vicious phone calls and e-mails, the Klein family has been inundated with angry responses. Now, Aaron and Melissa have announced that they are shutting down their shop.
In a brief phone interview earlier this month, Melissa told TheBlaze that the couple has continued to face upheaval following their faith-based decision. Just days after we spoke, she and her husband announced that this past weekend was the family’s last at its current location.
The business will be transitioning, with the Kleins operating, instead, from their home.
“This will be our last weekend at the shop we are moving our business to an in home bakery,” read a post on the company’s Facebook page on Aug. 30.

I went to their website and their facebook page looking for somewhere ... anywhere with a paypal link or way to order their cookies or SOMETHING that I could buy and ship home. Would love to buy their product as a way to support them. I understand from looking at their facebook timeline that at one time she made lemon bars (my personal favorite) cheesecake cups (also a fav!) along with all kinds of cookies by the dozen that they made and shipped..... if she starts doing that again I’ll happily place an order to help support them!
Unfortunately, many of these hard-working, moral Americans voted for zero. I know several of them and don’t pretend to understand or support their reasoning. One said because Romney was a Mormon and God showed her she couldn’t vote for a Mormon. And, also sad is that it has been 5 years and this country is quickly sliding down a degenerate hole because I just don’t see people doing or saying much to stop the tide of destruction.
I assume they are going so broke they can no longer afford the business location.
In many of these cases there is also litigation involved, and often substantial fines. For example, the Wildflower Inn in Vermont is a family owned inn that specialized in hosting families. Unlike some inns that are oriented towards adults, the Wildflower Inn was oriented to families with kids, particularly young kids. And the owners clearly showed their religious orientation.
And then a pair of lesbians decided to make a test case out of them. The owners of the Inn ultimately had to settle, paying around $30,000 plus their legal expenses of course. See the whole sad story here .
Why anybody would want to force their interests upon a business that has a different orientation is beyond me. I certainly wouldn't consider, for example, having a meeting of a motorcycle club at that inn, or having a meeting of a church group at an inn that caters to vacationing singles with hot tubs and a bar. It seems like common sense, but the activists who force their desires on others have a broader political purpose in mind.

I thought I would go there for a batch of cookies, homemade bread or anything to support the business. Maybe Hannity or Huckabee will have them on their shows.
Anyone close to Gresham (Portland area) should order a cake!
A business model I propose is simple.
Yes you have to bake the cake. The State will go after you if you do not bake the cake.
No law and no person says it has to be edible. A sawdust-flavored cake is fine. A hot pepper flavored cake is fine. A chocolate COLORED cake is fine. Must have been an error on the order sheet, you know.
Service is required by Law. Quality of service is not required by law. There are many ways to lodge a protest. This is but one.
What law was broken? Has Oregon passed some law that forbids discrimination based on sexual orientation?
Apparently one must endorse homosexual behaviour in Oregon.
At least we need not participate.

Well, I’d suggest a Christian fillip. Give them a better than normal cake, filled with little fortune cookie like slips with gospel verses on them. Suggest a “God bless [names]” on the top... yes... God bless... remember, God’s blessing does not mean approval of where they are but rather an improvement in their spiritual state. Even if God has to floor them first! We are so much into a “curse” mentality that we forget that “bless” is a far more powerful weapon. One way to get rid of a problem with gays is to get them to quit being gays... I do not believe in wimpy gospel.

We need to figure out all the ways possible to live within the law yet still protest that which we need to protest and yours is a most excellent suggestion on how to do just that!
The stopper to this is: Don’t post your prices. Tell them they are too expensive for them ala Oprah. Ha. No really, the price could go very high for gays. If they are willing to pay your price, make the cake. At least they will have paid for their intrusion on your business.
No the best thing that happen was that I was laid off which was a blessing but as for her on the day she returned from vacation they laid her off. She was terrible to work with. I recall someone told me that she stated during lunch that she was a lesbian. I guess there was a person that was naive so she went on stating what she does in the bedroom and the toys she used. That is why I don’t eat with others I usually go to my car to eat and rest.
She had a tendency to snap at you at anytime. She did it to me and others in the department that no one wanted to train her or be near her. I am glad I no longer have any contact with her. I know of one coworker who emailed to me and others who had faith to pray against the Homosexual agenda. Well someone reported her and I can guess who.
She prides herself on her sexual orientation and has been very vocal over it. There is another girl in another department who is Bi but she is not “In your face” about it. She was a very nice person to chat with and work with. But this one ...wow.
