Power grid vulnerabilities are finally garnering some attention by government officials.

An electrical grid joint drill simulation is being planned in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Thousands of utility workers, FBI agents, anti-terrorism experts, governmental agencies, and more than 150 private businesses are involved in the November power grid drill.

The SHIELD Act, which is stalled in Congress, is the first serious piece of legislation in many years to attempt to address the vulnerabilities of the power grid in.

How many men does it take to change a light bulb?

none, real men aren't afraid of the dark.

I’ll take that bet. A couple winters ago, our power company decided to randomly cut power for a few minutes here and there on one of the coldest days. When they flipped the switches back on, many transformers blew so people were without power for much longer and their crews were scrambling trying to find new transformers and getting them replaced. In other neighborhoods, they simply forgot to turn it back on. IDIOTS!

Good thing Hyundai heavy industries just built a huge transformer plant in hope hull, Alabama. Think that place would be “appropriated” in an emergency...

I read about this a few weeks ago. Yes, they will assume water and food delivery will stop.

It was some months ago when Homeland Security did a test after they had the power to shut down every TV and radio in the nation. After the test, they said they had to do a bit of adjusting, but it will work now.

The reason they gave for taking over everything (except ham radio, they couldn’t get that), is to be able to give us directions when something terrible happens. So, they shut everything off and Hussein will tell us what to do. Will they turn it all back on? That is when I bought a very good ham radio receiver.

Hussein stole my TV and radios and by God, he wasn’t going to stop me from listening in to ham radio.

If the grid goes out for a very long time, I’ll just be in my country of which I am President for Life. My country is my house and back garden - I own it and Hussein doesn’t and he can read my outside door mat which says, “BRING BACK A WARRANT”. No one gets in my Country unless the President of My Country says so and that IS ME. Hussein has a bunker to water and feed him - well, so do I in My Country.

“What happens in jails?...”

They would be turned loose because the guards wouldn't be there and can't let the criminals starve to death and smell up the place.

The main state prison in Texas is in Huntsville, TX, 20 miles south of me. When those guys get out now, they get on a bus in Huntsville, and go to Galveston. How do I know that? Because I psychologically tested criminals in Galveston, Texas, and there they were having gotten out of Huntsville.

They head down Hwy. 45 and don't stop until they get to the beach in Galveston. There is a half way house there that keeps them for a relatively short period of time and Texas Rehab. at that time wanted them tested to see if they were a lost cause or not and that's what I did, test them.

When they have to leave the half way house, they live on the beach - any non-criminal going there after sundown was risking his/her life. They had nothing to eat and would burglarize houses, eat out of garbage cans, do anything they had to in order to eat. One I was testing hadn't had any food that day and it was afternoon. I took a sandwich out of my bag and gave it to him - who knows, maybe I kept someone from getting mugged.

I just know the Huntsville criminals won't stay in Huntsville, they will head to the shore, they always do.

I guess my new generator will get a good workout. We have plenty of food supplies, and lots of ammo, and it’s doubtful Obama’s children will get out to my neck of the woods.

Now don’t you fret little people. Obama, his cabinet, Congress, and the elites will have their food, power, guns, bunkers and enough guards for protection.

Sleep safe folks, the political 1% will be fine.

For those who (like me) can’t afford much in the line of a solar setup, American Science And Surplus usually has small panels and chargers for pretty cheap. Not enough to power a house, but it can keep your flashlight and cellphone batteries charged.

Good, but they should also order and store certain backup components locally (certain transformers, etc.). They should really reinstall older controls as backup insurance, too, and train personnel for those, just in case.

Speaking of other neat toys, besides solar panels and flashlights, I have sets of walkie-talkies. Easy enough to recharge with portable solar panel packs I have. That way, family members can stay in touch when cellphones don’t work. Of course, they have limited range, but are very handy in a power outage.
