Top LGBT Friendly Colleges Offer 'Gender-Free' Bathrooms, Queer Studies Minor August 22, 2013 - 1:17 PM By Melanie Hunter
(CNSNews.com) Campus Pride, a gay rights advocacy group, released its annual list of the Top 25 LGBT Friendly Colleges and Universities on Tuesday, which includes schools with gender-neutral bathrooms and a minor in queer studies.
The top 25 schools had to achieve five stars in overall, sexual orientation, and gender identity/expression categories in order to be listed in the top 25. Each school also had to be 4.5 stars or above in eight LGBT-friendly factor areas.
The final Top 25 had the highest percentage ratings and reflects colleges with student populations from 2500 to over 25,000, both public and private schools.
The University of Oregon is the only institution in the state to offer Queer Studies as a minor in their Department of Womens and Gender Studies.
Help change the world with your newfound critical thinking skills by promoting respect in the workplace. Aid a city as it institutes its new gay-marriage law. Promote diversity in adoption rights. Youll be able to create and foster a culturally responsive community wherever you go, the university said its website.
Macalester College, a private undergraduate liberal arts college in St. Paul, Minn., has what they call all gender bathrooms on campus.
For those whose gender expression is not always recognized or validated, entering gendered restrooms can result in humiliation, harassment, or violence. To recognize the importance of the safety and comfort of everyone in our community, Macalester wants to ensure access to single-stall and/or all-gender restrooms on campus, the colleges website said.

“What kind of a career does QUEER STUDIES prepare you for?”
Only thing I can think of is pivot man in a circle jerk.
Damn: You can be proud to have one of these colleges in your state-—————Not.
Colleges for freaks.
If you didn’t you’d get sued............period.
Nothing new there. I heard that over 30 years ago, at least for lesbians. The reason I heard was that being a teachers college, there were almost no men students.
F***, my school’s there...

President of the United States of America.
Yeah. So is my grad-skool alma mater. Fortunately for them they don’t need my money.
“Fortunately for them they dont need my money.”
LOL same here. Even my alumni booster’s club keep asking me for money and I’ve never given a dime. I owe them nothing as I paid for my tuition.
They don’t call University of Pennsylvania “the bottom of the Ivy League” for nothing.
President of the United States of America.
We're so damn proud of that boy!

“and a minor in queer studies.”
I’ll admit my mostly liberal arts undergraduate work was not the most market-oriented career path I could have chosen. Still, I feel pretty good about the fact that I never picked a minor in anything called queer studies.
But then again, I am a meat-eating member of the white power structure. So you know, I must driven by an innate intolerance for such things or something.
“The University of Massachusetts, Amherst has the first LGBTQA floor to be established on a college campus.”
Okay, I’m afraid to ask (and too lazy to Google), but what does the QA in LBGTQA stand for?
The inmates are running the asylum. Wake up, people. Don’t accept this insanity.
I remember living in Silicon Valley when I heard Stanford had become more PC liberal than UC Berkeley.
How the mighty have fallen.
I’m surprised ut Austin didn’t make the list.
And US businesses are saying there are no qualified Americans to do the work, so they are hiring immigrants.
Any connection?
PC liberalism at Stanford became manifest in 1972, when they changed their name from the Indians to the Cardinals.
Stanford Cardinal. Not Cardinals. We must be politically correct in our political correctness.
