First Howard Dean and now Noam Chomsky agreeing with Sarah Palin?
In an interview with Democracy Now, the influential MIT linguistics professor, author, and prominent left-wing political activist admitted that Sarah Palin was right about Barack Obama in that there was no substance to his presidential campaign.
Palin also recently received validation from former Gov. Howard Dean, a prominent liberal Democrat, about what she termed Obamacare death panels, otherwise known as the Independent Payment Advisory Board.
In these latest comments about the president, Chomsky said that I dont usually admire Sarah Palin, but when she was making fun of this hopey changey stuff, she was right; there was nothing there. And it was understood by the people who run the political system, and so its no great secret that the US electoral system is mainly a public relations extravaganza its sort of a marketing affair.
Although Chomsky and Obama would seem to be natural allies at least initially, the professor has previously denounced among other things Obamas civil liberties record in connection with domestic surveillance and the deployment of lethal drones overseas.
He has also said previously that I personally never expected anything of Obama, and wrote about it before the 2008 primaries. I thought it was smoke and mirrors.
You might also recall that Palin, the former governor of Alaska and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, was subject to widespread scorn after a 2009 Facebook posting about death panels that would ration healthcare treatment.
However, writing in the Wall Street Journal late last month, without mentioning Palin Howard Dean wrote that One major problem [with Obamacare] is the so-called Independent Payment Advisory Board. The IPAB is essentially a health-care rationing body. By setting doctor reimbursement rates for Medicare and determining which procedures and drugs will be covered and at what price, the IPAB will be able to stop certain treatments its members do not favor by simply setting rates to levels where no doctor or hospital will perform them. There does have to be control of costs in our health-care system. However, rate setting the essential mechanism of the IPAB has a 40-year track record of failure getting rid of the IPAB is something Democrats and Republicans ought to agree on.
Are you surprised that Sarah Palin is receiving support in her views from those on the opposite end of the political spectrum?
hope and change... TO WHAT???
fundamentally changing this country... TO WHAT?
in 6 years not one whore-nalist was curious enough to ask?
Yeah, but if you watch the video you’ll see that he puts Reagan in the same “form over substance” category as Obama. Of course, there have been few presidents with as much substance as Reagan and as little substance as Obama. So Noam remains an idiot notwithstanding that he got some of it right this time.
MIT professors sure do catch on quick!!!
He’s had a Reagan fixation for decades.
None of us here needed to ask. We knew it would be some unworkable statist lunatic fantasy that would bring us to the brink of a second civil war. Even the Commies at DU are starting to question it.
For the record; for the statist lurkers from DU that believe that government is the benevolent paternal/maternal figure who always means well, and whose missteps can be easily corrected by the popular will, you will burn in the camps* alongside us- if you make it that far. The willing dupes are always the first to go.

“THAT’S RACIST!”
Thanks to 2nddivisonvet and BigTigerMike for their threads for Sarah's Awesome List!
Noam Chomsky still has a soul darker than the Marianas Trench though.
Be dipped...
Sarah is normally right
A shame that it takes a Noam Chomsky to say that Sarah Palin was right meanwhile you have GOP-E goons who go on TV to constantly trash her..gee if only the GOP would grow a damn brain
I don’t understand, there were people alleging to be Freepers here last night insisting that Palin was irrelevant and that her words had no power.
There’s quite a few here who have a problem with women in power. There are others who are jealous of her. Many just want to ape what the “cool kids” in the media and arts say about her, so as to be acceptable. Then there are some who find her “not conservative enough” and others who just like a good argument.
Sarah Palin is the truth.
Yeah you do, Noam. You're just now getting around to admitting it.
I wonder how it feels to be an icon of the Left and suddenly realize that you're the Establishment you've made a career of cursing. I wonder how it feels to look in the mirror and realize that you're The Man you've always posed as hating. And that for all the pompous, self-righteous diatribes you've made a living off of over the years, you're stuck with a cardboard cutout of a human being you've elevated into the Oval Office and the real thing is standing there, looking at you, knowing you to the very soul.
It can't be pleasant. I wish I could feel even slightly sympathetic. Well, no, I don't.
Sheesh, agreement with Putin, Howard Dean, Dershowicz on Zimmerman, Saudi’s on Egypt, now Chomsky on Obama. Heck, I’ll bet even the moon has changed color ...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, it’s Orange!
What color will be the sky tomorrow?
