American Evangelist Arrested [Then Cleared and Released] in London [When Someone Complained] for Pre

Tony Miano, a retired deputy sheriff from Los Angeles County, Calif., was arrested in London, England, earlier this week for preaching on abstaining from sexual immorality, both heterosexual and homosexual, in downtown Wimbledon. He was found to be in violation of Public Order Act Section 5, for "using homophobic speech that could cause people anxiety, distress, alarm or insult," Miano said in a YouTube video posted on Wednesday. Preaching from 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12, Miano spoke about sexual sins for 25 minutes before being cut off by Metropolitan Police officers who said that although preaching in itself is not an offense, the specific part of the Bible he was preaching from was interpreted as homophobic by the woman who called to complain.

Miano told police officers that he doesn't hate homosexuals, and then reiterated that he was preaching about all forms of sexual immorality – lust, fornication and addiction to pornography. He said that he "loves homosexuals enough to bring them the truth of the Gospel."

Subsequently, Miano was arrested and escorted uncuffed to the police station, where he was booked, photographed and fingerprinted. Police also took a DNA sample to ensure that he was not a wanted criminal.

During the seven hours he spent in jail, Miano said he was interrogated about his faith in Jesus Christ, and was asked a series of questions.

"I was asked if I believe homosexuality is a sin. I was asked what portion of the Bible I was reading. I was asked that if a homosexual was hungry and walked up to me, would I give them something to eat."

Miano said Wednesday that he was hoping to get a copy of the interrogation, "because the world really needs to hear it."

On Thursday, he posted a transcript from the interrogation on his website, Cross Encounters. Sports Fan International, the mission team that organized the evangelistic effort outside the Wimbledon tennis tournament, quickly retained attorney Michael Phillips of Christian Concern, an organization Miano described as being similar to the American Center for Law and Justice and Alliance Defending Freedom in the United States. Phillips relayed the bad news to Miano that he was facing 24 hours in jail, followed by prosecution, in which he could possibly be ordered to stay in England until the completion of his trial, which could last four to five months.

Miano said he then asked for his Bible and received a copy of the Gideon's Bible, and began reading from Acts 1-5, and explained that he found particular comfort in chapters 3-5. He also said he sang hymns inside his jail cell.

In time, Miano said a peace came over him. He later found out that although he was expecting the worst, the inspector had decided to release him "without further action." He was released just after midnight on Tuesday.

No doubt this sort of thing is going to happen here in America in the not too distant future. Sorry to say I believe virtually all churches and Christians will stop speaking out about sin.

No, I will simply do it somewhere else. Notice my tag line. That is a big mission field.

Within twenty years, perhaps ten.

Most stopped years ago.

...he was preaching about all forms of sexual immorality – lust, fornication and addiction to pornography.

In mu opinion, this aspect of the culture war can't be stressed enough. Homosexuality is an abomination and God justly smote Sodom and Gomorrah for their evil. But adultery, fornication and pornography are likewise vile sins displeasing to the Lord.

Yes, that’s a definite...probably during this administration, now that “same sex marriage” has a foothold. It will be one of the dividing issues between true Christians and professing Christians.

Hey, he’s witnessing to Caesar.

Whether it does good to Caesar or not is indifferent. That’s in God’s hands. But he did what God asked of him.

The ones who stopped and won’t start again will probably dissolve.

God doesn’t warn so much about sin because He is a meanie! He warns because He wants His love to work. He’s never going to endorse anything weird, never going to give His glory to another.

Forgiving doesn’t mean excusing. If they’re being open and unconcerned about “gayness” then this is plain wrong. And anyhow it isn’t a matter of mere squeamishness. Sodomy is gratuitous violence.

[[[Sorry to say I believe virtually all churches and Christians will stop speaking out about sin]]]

Churches already have stopped. You rarely hear sin discussed even in supposedly hard core evangelical and “fundamentalist” churches. Sin is only mentioned in the general sense, as something vague and unpleasant that God does not like.

Pastors rarely get specific about sin. They do not do sermons about lying, stealing or fornicating, or explicitly say you are destined for @#!*% for rejecting Christ. It’s all sweet nothings.

Exactly the Liberal Christians or Christians who voted for corrupt politicians will one day have to decide which side will they lean. Will they continue to speak out about Sin or will they just quiet down and just go along?

A mid-80’s year old priest near here really lays it on as well. That’s the parish we attend. Also, the Southern Baptist church near here is graciously allowing our kids to attend their summer camp next week. I’m 100% confident they’ll get the “right kind” of influence there, as they have at the same church’s VBS the past several years.

I was in London ten years ago and a man was fire and brimstone preaching from a platform overlooking all the working drones making their way to work. He was doing a fine job of it. All of a sudden he ran off - a minute later I see two bobbies and another man where the preacher had been - all busily looking to arrest him.

I felt like I was in a scene from 1984 - and still all the drones kept moving like nothing happened.

Must not let anything happen to disturb the people and cause them think for themselves!

You need to find yourself a good ole Southern Baptist Church. Because we've certainly heard about homosexuality drugs, drunkenness, gossiping, lying, hypocrisy, adultery, and a whole passel of other things that are sins.

Just about every sermon the Pastor will make reference to sin and becoming right with God...it's part of the Altar Call.

“Watch begining at 1:08”

GREAT VIDEO! It should be played before every church service to wake people up. Christians have their heads in the sands, consumed by the affairs of this world.

A survey showed that 3 out 4 people in my community don’t go to church. Souls must be saved. JESUS is coming in clouds of glory anytime.

That’s great stuff. More power to you.

I’ve been in many “conservative” churches and heard a lot of airheaded praise music combined with attacks on legalism in churches (which may be an implied criticism of Catholicism).

In fact many conservative churches are not legalistic enough, judging by the fact that evangelicals have similar rates of divorce and out-of-wedlock births as the secular world.

So someone is offended and this man goes to jail. I’m offended every day. Does that mean that every left-wing harridan should go to jail that offends me? No, of course not. Offense is only allowable if it is politically correct. It’s just a ruse to silence those who opposed the leftist Communist fascist agenda.

Good judgment!

Ephesians 5
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
