Polygamy Advocate: Gay Marriage Blazing Trail for Us
Newsbusters ^ | June 25, 2013 | Lauren Enk

Posted on 06/25/2013 10:46:27 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Looks like there is a slippery slope after all and gay marriage really could lead to polygamy. According to U.S. News and World Report, polyamory advocate Anita Wagner Illig said that gay marriage is setting the standard to make polygamy and polyamory legal.

“We polyamorists are grateful to our [LGBT] brothers and sisters for blazing the marriage equality trail,” said Illig, who is the head of polyamory advocacy group called Practical Polyamory.

Anticipating the Supreme Court’s decision on same-sex marriage this week, US New’s reporter Steven Nelson interviewed Illig to see how polyamorists and polygamists feel about the possibility of redefining marriage. Nelson reported that Illig admitted “the polyamory community has expressed little desire for legal marriage” until now, but that in light of gay marriage gaining wider acceptance, “more options seem possible in the future.”

Illig insisted that the legalization of gay marriage would set an undeniable precedent for polyamorists seeking legal “multi-partner marriage.”

“A favorable outcome for marriage equality is a favorable outcome for multi-partner marriage,” she argued, because gay marriage would then provide “precedent” for “other forms of non-traditional relationships.”

Illig, whose husband has a girlfriend, believes that the legal acceptance for polygamy would “eliminate a common challenge polyamorists face,” and would be more likely to happen should the Supreme Court rule in favor of gay marriage this week.

Despite denials from left-wingers like CNN’s Piers Morgan and MSNBC’s Luke Russert, it’s getting harder and harder for liberals to ignore reality: legalizing gay marriage will lead to legalizing polygamy. Lefty newspaper Slate’s writer Jillian Keenan openly advocated legalizing polygamy earlier this year, and Huffington Post’s Abby Huntsman admitted that legalizing gay marriage would “open the door” to polygamy “and other things.”

Not to mention, of course, MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry who asserted that “We do want to change marriage.” With gay couples and now “multi-partner” marriage on the horizon, one wonders whether marriage will even be recognizable by the time the left is done changing it.

Justice Scalia predicted this in his dissent in Lawrence v. Texas, which struck down sodomy laws in the U.S. He said that if the Court refused to uphold state laws that are based on morality then laws against incest, adultery, homosexuality, polygamy, bestiality, pornography, etc. would crumble.

This will go on until until government starts losing money off it(as when people start “marrying” their children to avoid inheritance taxes). Then you’ll see Democrats screaming about “the sacred institution of marriage”.

Next I expect to see a non-cable sitcom or drama with a polygamous main characters. All apart of the normalization process.

I’ve never seen gay marriage as a “slippery slope”, it is a complete break, it is the realization of another libertarian victory to add to the 50 year string of them.

Once we have “gay marriage” then what we are really saying is that it is all up to whatever consenting adults want, polygamy has to follow, as will all other variations.

Personally I’m looking forward to this, getting kind of tired of my old wife and would like to liven things up with a model with 20 years less mileage on it. Just can’t afford the alimony so this solves that little problem, just move the old bag to the spare bedroom, maybe service her once a month or so just for old times sake and have a ton of fun with the new one! You just have to learn to enjoy the decline, there’s a silver lining in every dark cloud!

One of the drawbacks of polygamy is that it does not build the nuclear family (one man, one woman, and their children) as a political unit.

Yes, because we have a nation run by lawyers. If we legalize all sorts of "marriage," the money from divorce and probate cases is going to be ASTRONOMICAL.

This drive for new definitions of "marriage" started picking up bigtime when stats showed conclusively that heterosexual couples were living together more and more without benefit of marriage. Not a good thing for divorce lawyers.

Gay couples and polygamists literally begging to be married would provide a bonanza for the legal industry. As they say, follow the money.

“We polyamorists are grateful to our [LGBT] brothers and sisters for blazing the marriage equality trail,” said Illig, who is the head of polyamory advocacy group called Practical Polyamory.

Oh, I bet. Don't thank them, though. Thank the liberals who pushed this because they want to redefine and destroy the traditional family.

“A favorable outcome for marriage equality is a favorable outcome for multi-partner marriage,” she argued, because gay marriage would then provide “precedent” for “other forms of non-traditional relationships.”

Of course. The exact same liberals who argued that legalizing gay marriage is as far as it will go will now be on board fully to redefine marriage again. Afterall, they, by their own definition, wouldn't want to be bigoted and intolerant.

The military shouldn't be paying for dependents anyway. Only in the Gov’t would we pay someone more because they have dependents, even though they are performing the same tasks as other persons with no dependents.

Funny think is Polygamy has been around many centuries and was/is the norm for many societies and cultures . Homosexual “unions” have never been a cultural norm or accepted as the norm until this recent push.

I have mentioned this before. I have a Lesbian acquaintance that asked why I didn't support gay marriage. I told her that I would be glad to support it as soon as she supported my right to have multiple wives.

I felt she should also support the guy down the street that was in a committed relationship with his German shepherd and wanted to marry her.

Or how about that nice Muslim man across the street that wanted to marry a 13 year old or we could also talk about the woman on the corner that was really in love with her Honda civic.

I told her we all have a line we won't cross, I just chose to draw mine in a different place than she did.

Yeah, cultures that treat women as possessions and members of a herd, and not as people. Cultures that are very violent, as one man getting multiple wives mean that other men go without wives. Cultures of dirt.

Polygamy offers up lots of sex (for the man) and very little love, for the women, the children, or the family.

Is that the kind of culture you want to bring here? Just look at how those enclaves of polygamy do in Utah!

Noway I stated I don’t want it here and think its wrong. We all know a lot of the men who engage in polygamy are also pedophiles because they “condition” future wives at puberty.

Just sayin’ it has been around and accepted for hundreds of years. Where homosexual pairings were always a taboo, even though they too have always existed.
We are getting ready to do something even more crazy than polygamy is my point.

I don’t care about polygamy that much. It is MUCH more healthy and natural than gay marriage could ever be. Why won’t allow one to have a number of wives if one is able to support them? It is exactly that part of private life lawmakers and government has to stay out of.
The problem is there are numerous other really dangerous perversions such as animal sex and paedophilia. Gay ‘marriage’ is surely a quantum leap in normalizing it.

IMO Polygamy is much more natural than Same sex.

The proper organs are used.

Probably 50% of todays married people have diddled around during their marriage, Is that so different from polygamy? Except for the deceit it is not. Why should a man have more than one wife? Shouldn’t a woman be allowed to marry more than one man? probably half of them have tried on a new pair of shoes once in a while too.

In reality Polygamy is much more natural than Same sex marriage.
