Sen. John McCain, who built a potent political career on his record as a Vietnam veteran and ex-prisoner of war, on Tuesday told the leaders of every military branch he cannot in good conscience advise women to join the service as the military grapples to contain and curb its sexual assault epidemic.
"Just last night, a woman came to me and said her daughter wanted to join the military and could I give my unqualified support for her doing so. I could not," McCain, an Arizona Republican, said during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing examining whether all serious sexual crimes should be removed from the chain of command.
"At its core, this is an issue about defending basic human rights but it's also a long-term threat to the strength of our military. We have to ask ourselves: if left uncorrected, what impact will this problem have on recruitment and retention of qualified men and women?" McCain asked. "I cannot overstate my disgust and disappointment over continued reports of sexual misconduct in our military. Weve been talking about this issue for years and talk is insufficient."(continued)

Every sane person in the United States predicted sexual chaos would result in the military social experiment involving women integrated with men. Now we have added Sodomites adding additional stress. Our military will break down in the near future. No sane male would join the current military ever.
Look! The bottom line up front is the fact that gets drowned out in the talk about “the military” and that is we (the military) MUST take what society gives us.
Now, keeping in mind that people like mccain have tinkered with the “the standards” to the point that our standards have been lowered to accommodate all of the special interest groups that our so called elected officials MUST pander to.
So....the military is ripe with people that otherwise would not have been able to qualify for military service under our old more rigorous standards and therefore people that would commit rape/sexual assault would have not made it through the screening process.
So at the end of the day don’t blame us for the condition that society is in — We are only taking what society gives us and then society expects us to turn around their failure in 8 to 12 weeks — And we do TRY to turn them into Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines but occasionally a bad one gets through the cracks, because they have to, or else.
If we want to fix the military — Raise the entrance standards back UP to where they used to be, otherwise don’t be so appalled every time something like this happens.
Look at the country and see what kind of kids we are raising and then ask yourself — Is this the BEST that we have to offer our military to work with...think about this the next time you see a 17 year old male with is shoes untied, pants hanging down around the crack of his ass and sporting 13 tattoos...Is that the best the country can do — Because the military has to take them.
And no John. The “problem” has no solution. One quick fix tho would be keeping men and women separate and half-assed supervised when they must be in close contact.
I think he feels he owes it to society in general because, as he showed in his graduating class at Annapolis, there are actually five people in the world dumber than he is.
Does McLame realize that after Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was repealed that they all started Asking, Telling and Not taking NO for an answer?
Actually there is a solution, better discipline. Discipline in the ranks is a shadow of what it used to be. Boot Camp has been replaced by Summer Camp. NCOs and Officers can't instill good order and discipline. The military are stocked with Gen-Xers who never had to follow rules at home, why should they be expected to do it in the ranks unless there are repercussions? Better leadership wouldn't hurt, either.
Hello, I am Resolute and I am a currently against women in combat positions in the military.
Except it should be applied to Hollywood.
Women and men should avoid Hollywood until the casting couch sexual misconduct crisis has been solved.
Darn sight worse than anything that happens in the military.
We need to stand up to this political correctness. Sadly, we will be flamed because some freepers’ daughters serve in the military and they will turn it into something “personal.” Which it is not! I’m sorry but gay men and women do not belong in “combat positions.”
I have been flamed before and I am sure I will be again. To my wife’s chagrin the older I get the less I care what anyone thinks and the more I say what I think in my outside voice while inside.
He’s so transparent. He wants to say women stay out period.
You’re dealing with a political correct animal here with McCain.
and by the way, if he’s so true, why allow the gay soldiers to rape other male soldiers who are not gay, John.
Sexual ‘Misconduct’ McCain? It’s a FRIGGIN CRIME you ass- Also shoudl straight men avoid the service until the rampant crisis of crimes of homosexual rape agaisnt straight men are ‘cleared up’ too?
Women should avoid military service until Commander in Chief crisis solved.
There, fixed it
The MSM seeks him out for comments because he’s the kinda repub. they like.
McInsane: Let’s mix homosexuals and women into a male group and see if any sexual issues arise and if they do we’ll need to find a way to make it stop.
In reply 29 you say you don't want women in "combat positions". In reply 17 you said you don't want them in the military at all. Which is it?
Exactly: The military's homosexual assault epidemic that NOBODY DARES REPORT ON
Think about the math.
The MAJORITY of complaints are from MALES. Think about the numbers. Are the females in the military especially likely to abuse the males??? Women are only 20-25% of the military population, yet they account for the majority of complaints? Like 4X or 5X the rate going the other way? No way. This is about homosexual activity, and nobody dares to bring it up.
And men are unlikely to report such female on male inappropriateness in any case, because they don't feel all that threatened. In my own experiences at work (and there were a few), it was something to make a somewhat humorous disapproving remark about and move on ( like "kind of early in the day to turn into a barfly, honey").
Both!
I’ve been flamed on this issue, too. I’m sick of political correctness - it is killing our country.
So how is this social experiment working for us?
