Brokaw: 'It’s Tough to See How' Holder Keeps His Job (Wanna bet Obama's gonna keep him?)

The ice seems to be cracking beneath Attorney General Eric Holder's feet.

When asked by NBC Meet the Press host David Gregory Sunday if Holder is going to "stay in the job" given the leaks investigation scandal, former NBC Night News host Tom Brokaw replied, "Boy, I think it’s tough to see how he does" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Brokaw: 'It’s Tough to See How' Holder Keeps His Job

TOM BROKAW, FORMER NBC NIGHTLY NEWS ANCHOR: I talked over the weekend to a very, very senior ex-intelligence official from United States government, and he laughed. He said, "Look, this administration and all prior administrations have used classified material when it’s been to their political advantage." And he was astonished by the way that Eric Holder, the chief legal officer of the United States, has recused himself in the Associated Press case. So we still have a way to go here, David.

DAVID GREGORY, HOST: Do you think-- you’ve seen these kinds of investigations before meaning the Judiciary Investigation Committee, investigation of the Attorney General, this could be elongated. You have this morning on The New York Times government officials talking off the record or on background about his effectiveness. Does he stay in the job?

BROKAW: Boy, I think it’s tough to see how he does at this case, but it’s up to the president. That-- what we’re seeing in The New York Times today is that familiar Washington two-step. Officially, getting the endorsement of people like David Axelrod and-- and the spokesman for the president, but at the same time, there’s another part of that two-step that is going on which people are saying it would be better if he left. It would be better for the president to get this cleaned up.

He has become obviously the lightning rod for a lot of the criticism just on this panel and certainly in Republican circles. From a political point of view, one of the ways that you can measure the impact of all of this and the fairness of it is think if this had happened in the Bush administration with John Ashcroft as the Attorney General. You know full well that the Democrats and the left would be going very hard after them with these issues that are in play.

To be sure, Brokaw is no Walter Cronkite, but if Holder has lost him, the Attorney General's in a heap of trouble.

Also interesting was Brokaw's final comment concerning how the left would be reacting if the players in this scandal were named Ashcroft and Bush.

Indeed, it would be far different particularly in the media.

Why might that be?

It's tough to see holder period.

Anyone wanting on or off this ping list, please advise. Thanks.

He will be thrown out by the President, when the embarrassment of kicking him out is outweighed by the fact that he won't have to answer questions any more.

They'll bury the whole stinking mess under a pile of "mistakes were made" semi-apologies, and that's the end of it.

Brokejaw's just trying to make himself out to be a hard-hitting "journalist" after he and his fellow travelers gave BHO a pass long before 2008.

Remember his statement "We really don't know much about him [Obama]."

Useful idiot to those that do harm.

How many Attorney Generals have been forced to resign from office for corruption or performing illegal acts?

Here is more of the ANYBODY BUT OBAMA line...

Given all the debris piled up around the PINO, who would want to work for him at this point?

When will the Brokaw-types start to call out the “man” himself?

Anything Holder does, he does with the Blessing of Obama.

Why should Obama fire him?

If he does get rid of Holder we will get someone even worse doing Obama’s bidding.

What needs to be done is impeachment of Obama and his whole stinking tribe of communists. Including Pelosi and Harry Reid.

Won’t happen.

Leaving his government job will not excuse Holder from his crimes while part of government.
I'd say five years at Leavenworth would be appropriate in this case.
Ditto the bitch from the IRS.

Well it’s nice to hear from the Native American “Broken Jaw”. It’s been a while.

Such seeming candor from a man that couldn’t find much at all to say about the Clintons during his tenure at NBC.

Now he’s a sage.

What would possess someone to ask this dip-s__t a question like this? He couldn’t see any reason that Clinton should go. Now he can see a reason why Holder should?

What about Clinton’s perjury Mr. Broken Jaw? Could you see any way he could survive? I’ll bet you could...

I agree. Obama would rather bring on a constitutional crisis (which might happen) than get rid of his enforcer.

And for those who thought Obama would be chastened, forget about it. He’s going to double down and overtly and blatantly make things bad for anybody who disagrees with him. It’s all going to be “in your face” from here on out. And if the going does in fact get rough, he’ll leave the country.

Why would Napolitano get a pass for corruption, too? Isn’t she the one who put military veterans and tea partiers on the terrorist watch list? She is as guilty as the IRS officials and the chain straight to the top of political corruption.

Holder is “dead man walking”. With the lefties in the media talking openly about it, it’s clear that he’s going to “resign” at some point, and everyone knows it. But the way these things play out, Obama is going to extract some sort of concession from the GOP before pushing the ejection-seat button. And the Chicago-way is you push, push, and push for major concessions - say, no balking at (expected) claims of executive privilege to stop the inquiries from getting beyond DOJ, and into the balance of Obama’s inner-circle.

If the GOP has any spine left, they’ll rebuff Obama and keep pushing for hearings, bringing all of the sordid details out into the sunlight. It’s the only way - you have to bypass the media to get the public to realize what’s really been going on. THEN the tide will turn, and the media will throw Obama’s whole crew overboard to preserve the Dem party generally, and Hillary in 2016 specifically.
