Lesbian high school student, 18, refuses plea deal for sexual relationship with 14-year-old girl

The 18-year-old Florida high school cheerleader who was arrested on felony sexual assault charges for her relationship with a 14-year-old female classmate has refused to take a plea deal, meaning her case will go to court.

Hunt is facing felony charges of lewd and lascivious activity. If she had accepted the plea deal, she would have been forced to register as a sex offender as well as remain on house arrest for two years.

She will appear in court June 20, and could face 15 years in prison.

Kaitlyn Hunt's parents say that the younger girl's parents demanded that Kaitlyn be arrested because they can't come to terms with the fact that their teenage daughter had a relationship with another girl

State Attorney Bruce Colton said he would recommend two years of house arrest followed by one year probation if she takes the deal. If she is found guilty, it's also possible that Hunt could apply to not have to register as a sex offender under a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ law because the girls were no more than four years apart in age. That's not good enough for Kaitlyn and her family.

'I'm definitely hoping for a better plea deal. But if not, then we'll just have to do everything we can do to win the fight,' she told Today.

She is charged with two counts of lewd or lascivious battery, which is Florida's statutory rape charge. Each count carries a maximum punishment of 15 years in prison. The minimum sentence is seven years.

'This is a violation of the law. it's based upon an adult having sexual relations with a minor. The gender or sexual orientation of the parties has absolutely nothing to do with the prosecution,' the attorney for the younger girl, Charles Sullivan, told Today

They’re hoping the jury will let her off.

Excellent reason.

She has a terrible attorney or the family is angling for a book deal.

Playing the martyr is probably the move to up the book advance, not necessarily for staying out of jail.

Equality extends to statutory rape laws.

The coiunselors representing her should be disbarred. Who tells a client to risk 15 years in jail when they were offered a deal of 2 years house arrest and possibly no sex offender registration?

I don’t trust the news article claim that the parents are only upset about the relationship being between another female, but having nothing to do with her 14 year old being sexually preyed upon and corrupted by an 18 year old adult.

The younger girl was reported as being 15 before. I wonder if this means the relationship started when she was 14.

They did nothing when she was 17 because it was “legal”

I guess theoretically the defense could get a plea deal at any time, but I doubt the DA will be so giving next time...

The “gays” want to be free in society to groom children.

Unfortunately they will probably get their way, someday.

Maybe soon.

Agreed. If my 14 year old daughter would have been getting shtupped by ANYBODY, well... Let’s just say one of the trees in one of the neighborhood creek beds would have enjoyed a lot of extra fertilizer within a few hours of my discovering the situation.

I read this case is being tested to bring the age of consent down. Perverts have been trying to do this for a while.

I’m taking bets she gets away with it.

If she were a boy she would get the 15 years, but no jury today will lock up this woman.

Smells like a setup - the homo / pedophile mafia using a cute young chick to advance their agenda. They couldn’t have picked anyone that looks less like a sex offender.

Obviously she will not go to prison. A male would. End of discussion.

I’m against the “homosexual agenda” but its wrong to try to put an 18 year old girl away for 15 years or any amount of jail time for having a sexual relationship with a 14 year old girl. Perhaps probation, maybe.

But this is an incredible double standard. If it was an 18 year old girl with a 14 year old boy, no one would think twice. In fact, usually on these threads, everyone thinks its a big joke if a 30 or 40 year old woman beds a 14 year old boy. This is punishing this girl for being a lesbian, not for having a relationship with a 14 year old.
