Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) on Monday introduced a bill that would provide arms to vetted rebel groups.
Menendezs legislation would give arms and military training to opposition groups that had been vetted, as well as provide $250 million for basic services and security in a post-Assad Syria.
The bill also includes new sanctions against those providing arms or oil to Syrian President Bashar Assads regime.
Menendezs bill comes as the Obama administration is reconsidering its opposition to providing arms to the Syrian rebels.

Does Menendez favor underage types from other hemispheres?
What benefit would we get by putting terrorists who hate us in power, to replace a tyrant who hates us? Why does anyone think this is a good use of $250M?
Yea, right.
You mean the rebels who are gassing their own countrymen
And in exchange he is going to be the beneficiary of services rendered by underage Syrian prostitutes. /sarc
It is Springtime after all.
I would love to see someone remake the song, “Springtime for Hitler”, from the 1968 movie “The producers”, with a modern reflection of the Arab, Fascists and their apologists.
The local journalist prints his claims like they're gospel, but the Comments section is slamming him unmercifully.
no
If the rebels are the ones using Sarin, and backed by Al Queda affiliates, arming them would be stupid. While Assad is bad, it doesn’t automatically make his enemies good.
Most everyone in Syria are muslims. We are infidels and no matter what we do for them or to them, they will still hate us.
what the F*ck is a vetted Syrian rebel group?
Democrats favor an armed citizenry as long as they aren’t Americans.
They pass a NICS check. If no disqualifying info is produced in 3 days, they may have their M16s and RPGs - at your expense. /s
Assad was on good terms with practically everyone. His tyranny, as I understand, was primarily focused on not allowing Muslim fundamentalists to come to power and kill everyone else (as that's what they are doing currently.) I read that Saddam of Iraq had bad children, and Saddam himself was not very kind to his enemies. But Assad was willing to work with Israel, and the USA, and Russia. CIA had their secret interrogations done there. Assad was not a threat. He haven't even said a word when Israel bombed *something* in Syria. Was he a dictator? Yes. But he was a sane dictator.
No, no more spending, you liberal PUKE. You're proposing to give MORE money to these terrorists who have already used chemical weapons.....
Democrats are such UTTER ignoramuses.
>>>His tyranny, as I understand, was primarily focused on not allowing Muslim fundamentalists to come to power and kill everyone else (as that’s what they are doing currently.)<<<
In fact Saddam was that kind of dictator too. Even his infamous attack on Kuwait was a way to prevent manipulating the oil market by islamist states. Saudis were quick to pull their strings at Washington because it was clear that Saddam could have been kicked their jihadi butts next if he was to get away with both Iran and Kuwait.
Hard to believe that POS is still appearing in public.I can remember a time in this country when pervs like him hid in the shadows.
A vetted Syrian rebel group would be one that’s approved by Obama/Muslim Brotherhood.
