Let me clarify...many libertarians seem to support gay marriage. Others seem to say that it doesn’t matter because government shouldn’t be involved in marriage anyway. I don’t disagree with your philosophical point.

That statement doesn’t condemn anything related to children and sex.

This is another little dark niche in libertarianism and NAMBLA and consent laws.

“Ruwart wrote. “When we outlaw child pornography, the prices paid for child performers rise, increasing the incentives for parents to use children against their will.”

“”Ruwart’s is a classic libertarian take — a defense of free will (even for “child performers”) and an attack on government prohibitions of any kind. It’s also political poison. As libertarian blogger Steve Newton put it, Ruwart and her allies run the risk of turning the party into “the poster child for NAMBLA and the aluminum hat brigade.”

The party’s executive director, Shane Cory, saw the danger as well, and rushed out a press release titled, “Libertarians call for increased communication to combat child pornography.” Cory was attacked by hardliners who saw the release as an endorsement of increased federal prosecuting power. The party refused to vote on a resolution asking states to strongly enforce existing child porn laws. Cory resigned in protest, depriving a party in the midst of what may be its most promising election season of one of its most able organizers and fund raisers. But for many libertarian faithful, adherence to the most rigid of principles always trumps practical considerations about how those principles might be more broadly observed.””

Libertarians either support homosexual marriage openly, or they support the politics of it the way that Biden opposes abortion.

Sodom and Gomorah was made up of liberals and libertarians, with a scarcity of social conservatives, God didn’t seem to care for that.

That seems to be the position of the libertarians and the left, that we conservatives are close minded bigots.

“”We condemn bigotry as irrational and repugnant. Government should neither deny nor abridge any individual’s human right based upon sex, wealth, ethnicity, creed, age, national origin, personal habits, political preference or sexual orientation.””

Gays in the military, abortion, homosexual marriage and adoption? yes sir, I wouldn’t want some guy on the internet to call me a bigot!

My libertarian belief.

You can not force a private organization by Gov’t dictate to allow homosexuals. Its very simple.

That’s the beauty of limited Gov’t interference. In nearly all areas, it allows Society (and religion) to be greater than Gov’t, and outside of Government’s area of influence. In our present society, there are no areas (even marriage) that are outside of Gov’t interference.

In the libertarian view, if gays want to start their own Boy-scouts, so be it. I assure you though, based on a society of free-peoples, such a thing would never come to exist. Unwritten, commonly accepted cultural norms will run society, rather than our present situation, in which Gov’t feels it can legislate and control all human activity.

The essence of libertarianism is that the strong should not be allowed impose their will in the week.

You would have us believe that the essence of libertarian if that the if you can do anything you want.

You are just ignorant.

The essence of libertarianism is to keep talking in vague flowery language while actually fighting for real world political and electoral goals to the left of the left.

“”The party refused to vote on a resolution asking states to strongly enforce existing child porn laws. Cory resigned in protest, depriving a party in the midst of what may be its most promising election season of one of its most able organizers and fund raisers.””

No, and it is a sad commentary on the moral climate in this country that someone could conceive of openly homosexual scout leaders.

I agree, let the gay scouts form their own organizations, the Brownies.

How about this...Force the Muslims to accept and respect
Christians and allow the Christians to be leaders of the Muslims.

I wonder who libertarians would chose if they could only pick between a real conservative or an extreme liberal candidate?

Please stop wondering and browse to a site that can provide a quick primer. You will quickly find that Our Founding Fathers were libertarians.

This small book is free in .pdf format: Libertarianism In One Lesson by David Bergland. I sat next to David Bergland, the 1984 LP Presidential candidate, at a dinner several years ago. There is an updated version of the book for sale at "Advocates for Self-Government."

I am not a Libertarian Party member and do not agree with some of their positions, such as open borders or unilateral withdrawal of all overseas military presence, but I do agree with many other libertarian positions that are based on reason and common sense.

Much to it's credit I have noted that in the years since 9/11 they have modified the open borders position and in spite of this belief they state "we support control over the entry into our country of foreign nationals who pose a credible threat to security, health or property."

I think one of the things that show the great flaws in the homosexual agenda is that they put their wants before the protection of children. This is pure selfishness, if they really cared about children as they like to proclaim, they would never want to put children in any danger. The more you look at gay behavior the more you see a very deep vein of selfishness. They are recruiting, I don’t care what gullible people in denial say.

You will quickly find that Our Founding Fathers were libertarians.

The saddest tactic of all that libertarians use against America, is that the right wing social conservatives who created America and had their representatives writing up the paper work, were creating a land of homosexuals in the military and abortion, and polygamy, and everything else.

It just took the left and libertarians to discover all that in the 1960s and start making it all part of our culture.

All depends on whether you agree with the Libertarian Party Platform or not. I’ve run into a bunch of libertarians (self identified) who claim they don’t realy agree with the LP platform but in their comments they appear to.

Dissembling is a common thread among libertarians when discussing what they do/not agree with in regards to the LP party platform. If a self-described libertarian does NOT agree with a lot of the LP platform, why call themselves libertarians? The pro-no holds barred porn, pro-homo rights agenda in toto, open borders with illegals freely allowed in, pro-prostitution, pro-ALL drugs legalized and pro-abortion platform stands in particular.
