We agree completely on that. But I don’t think homosexual marriage is a libertarian concept. I think the pure libertarian position on this is there should be no such thing as government sanctioned marriage.

Marriage is a religious concept outside portfolio of government. And I think we are seeing why that is the wise position as our government steps up and changes the definition of marriage for us.

I asked this if libertarians specifically because some of them seem to favor gay initiatives such as same sex marriage. I wondered if they thought that keeping homosexuals out of scouting constituted a form of discrimination.

I’m definitely libertarian on some things, but as far as gays in the scouts go, NO F***ING WAY.

I’m already aware of a gay scout leader who routinely had sex with his members, routinely threatened them to maintain silence, and convinced one young man to shoot his entire family to death when the young man’s mother saw them in bed together at their home.

This was on I.D channel, so absolutely not, under no circumstance, I do not care if this was the only case or an isolated case.

” it is the Boy Scouts’ decision, not the government’s.”

No, libertarian here. Just strict on my values.

I would not agree for the Scouts to change their rules to be forced to. I know a guy that tells us he was raped by men (in his family) as a kid for years so now he says he cannot help but to think that he is damaged goods and is gay. He says he's trying to put his life back in order (for many years). Some kids were abused then living in a damaged life.

A bigot is someone so intolerant of a different point of view that they make up libels against those people who hold that point of view.

That is you.

I have seen libertarians all in favor of ending age of consent and incest laws as unconstitutional.

Name one. Post their photos here and out them as the filth they would have to be. I must point out that raving socialist on the cable channels, Bill Maher, attempted to describe himself as a libertarian but the facts speak for themselves.

The truth is, a libertarian would never advocate government intervention in either the private policies of an organization or the inviolability of the parent - child relationship.

This is from the LP.org Platform:

3.5 Rights and Discrimination

Libertarians embrace the concept that all people are born with certain inherent rights. We reject the idea that a natural right can ever impose an obligation upon others to fulfill that "right." We condemn bigotry as irrational and repugnant.  Government should neither deny nor abridge any individual's human right based upon sex, wealth, ethnicity, creed, age, national origin, personal habits, political preference or sexual orientation. Parents, or other guardians, have the right to raise their children according to their own standards and beliefs.  This statement shall not be construed to condone child abuse or neglect.

All I can say is wow. All the things that happen in all circumstances of pedophiles having access to children will also happen in the boy scouts. The pedophiles will win the trust of kids, “groom” them and make threats to keep them quiet. This is what always happens, why should we think that it would be any different in the boy scouts?

Well dang...I’ve found a true pure coherent libertarian. And again, you are philosophically on point...unlike many. Great chat!

...some of them seem to favor gay initiatives such as same sex marriage.I don't understand your train of thought. Some Republicans favor gay marriage just as a large number of Democrats. Why would you think that Libertarians would be in favor of gay marriage across the board? The best assumption you could make about Libertarians is that in any situation, they will be against a governmental solution every time.

I can not imagine why a gay man would want to be in a situation where everything they do is watched, scrutinized and potentially be accused of child sexual abuse. Unless, of course, the benefits outweigh the risks and who knows, any accusation could be a violation of their civil rights.

Truthfully, I would not want a sexual abuser around little kids. And if you don’t think, they will not be looking for some satisfaction, you are not very wise to real characteristics and individual problems in people.

I don’t define myself as a libertarian. I define myself as a Christan. It’s just this bigotry offends me.

10-4 - I am Christian also, in agreement with a pretty good chunk of libertine philosophy - but I must say, you “get it” from the libertarian perspective...

I cannot support the general libertarian positon on gay marriage...it changes the word, and the institution, of a contract I signed many years ago. But my conservatism is a healthy dose of libertarianism plus a few principles around the edges...

I don't understand your statement here. The general libertarian position is clearly against Gay marriage. How can you say otherwise? The only Libertarian position is that no government has any right to be involved in the private lives of individuals. It is clear that government has no right to create a Gay marriaqe ordinance.

This is precisely what occurred in the case I mentioned.

This man had a modus operandi that was classic pervert. He repeated it over and over with multiple young boys.

I do not care if gays feel excluded from boy scouts. Don’t care if their feelings are hurt, it ain’t going make me feel better to include them.

It’s just stay the Hell away and find something else to do, and if you don’t there’s going to be problems.

This country seem stuck on stupid to the point of absolute stark raving madness.

There is a knife edge libertarians are teetering on.

One side of the knife leads us to think we are the gods of this world and we should be free to create it in any image we can think of.

The other edge is we are responsible for what we do in this life and we cannot delegate our responsibilities to the state.

I’m on the latter side. If government restricts our actions it restricts God’s actions too.
