It will be amnesty before it ever gets to a vote. Everyone knows it. Just because they refuse to use the word doesn’t change that.

Illegal immigrants, she said, are “human beings just like us,”

“Why do you rob banks Willie?”
“`cause that’s where the money is.” Willie Sutton

I expect the anti tea party trolls to attack him every day in every way because the know if Hitlery loses the Hispanic vote their Party is dead.

Nominating Rubio with the expectation of winning the Hispanic vote is insane.

He may well be the best candidate, but thinking he'll have a major and positive impact on the Hispanic vote is unrealistic.

Rubio's ethnicity is Cuban. Which will cut no ice among ethnic Mexicans, Puerto Ricans or Spaniards. It's like nominating an ethnic German in order to appeal to the ethnic Irish -- because they're both white.

http://www.theblaze.com/blog/2013/01/30/national-review-marco-rubio-immigration/

“Each of the proposals contains an amnesty for the dozen million or so illegals already in the country, and none of them contains adequate security provisions.”

Like you, I don’t appreciate anyone whizzing down my leg then telling me it’s raining ... to anyone here who insists that the RINO/CINOs don’t expect amnesty with their “comprehensive immigration reform”—go lay out in the yard if you’re going to act like a t**d.

Rubio has principles, he is leading on this issue and amnesty is not on the table. He got four Dem senators to sign on to his plan. When you see people attacking Rubio on this site know that they are working for Hitlery or are acting as useful idiots for the communist.

We need a strong Conservative who can man up & bring this country back to greatness.

That's what Rubio wants as well.

Fact is, demographic changes haven't exactly been in our favor. Rubio is a solid conservative --except when it comes to immigration. And while we can agree or disagree, what Rubio wants to do is take the immigration issue off the table so that the Democrats can't co-opt it. He's trying to save conservatism by making it palatable to non-white voters --voters who will decide elections.

This isn't 1980 anymore. Getting 59% of the white vote just doesn't cut it these days. We've got to draw others in. This is what Rubio is trying to do

Let me put it this way, if you think having Democrats on your side is a good thing (worth citing) and then accuse your critics of working for Democrats, you are living in the Twilight Zone.

Why didn’t you cite the laudatory TIME magazine cover to bolster your contention that his critics work for Dems?

Good point, faulty conclusion. 60% of Germans, Irish, all whites voted for the white candidate. Hispanic blood is a lot more thicker than the bogus, people of color, that the Dems are trying to sell.

RE “Marco Rubio’s softening stance toward immigration reform boils down to his mom, a new profile of the fast-rising Florida senator reveals.
“Don’t mess with the immigrants, my son,” Oriales Garcia Rubio told her youngest son during a Dec. 21 phone call, Time magazine reports. Illegal immigrants, she said, are “human beings just like us, and they came for the same reasons we came. To work. To improve their lives.”
......
Rubio now endorses a path to citizenship — something he once derided as “code for amnesty” — and that could alienate supporters who favor a tougher stance on illegal immigration.
He’s pledged to walk away from any new bills that don’t reflect conservative values, and emphasizes that the undocumented have no right to stay in the United States.
He also has vowed to oppose bills that reward immigrants for breaking the law, and says people have a right to be upset that illegals are able to get taxpayer-funded benefits”

Message to Rubio’s Mom : Who is going to pay for all the benefits they will automatically get and will demand more when they get the vote?

Rove claimed that the Rubio Senate compromise bill will give these candidates NO benefits while under probation and will take 10 years probation before approved illegals get naturalized. .
And Rub says he will reject a bill that doesn’t have that type of stuff in it.

So lets see the Senate bill with an open mind wink-wink.
Then lets kill it in the Senate no matter whats in it and then blame Obama for the failure. Its his Senate.

I was addressing your point that although Rubio had joined 3 fellow republicans and 4 democrats to agree to a plan that did not include amnesty that it would be changed to include amnesty later. And because of that you attack him? As far as Time magazine, I haven’t seen one in many years but trust me, they, like many on this thread, can’t wait for President Hitlery.

Losing small or losing big is still losing.

We can either embrace Rubio and lose white voters or shun Rubio and lose Hispanics. Either way, we lose. However, Hispanics aren't going away. Should we just cede this growing voting bloc to the Democrats without even a fight?

Here's a newsflash. We're never going to build a wall and deport every last Spanish-speaking brown person. Ain't gonna happen.

So what to do?

Then maybe we need to draw others in the way Reagan suggested — don’t give up your principles to bring them in but welcome all who share your principles. That is how Reagan’s big tent worked. It seems that too many Rockefeller republicans have already decided that Ronald Reagan’s conservative principles are dead and want to convince us we need adopt the ways of the socialists in order to “win.”

Well I can tell you that you will lose more in principled people then you will ever gain in democrats. If you don’t present a contrast and give an alternative to their stupidity, the candidate running commie-lite will always come in second. Just ask Mitt Romney perhaps he’ll tell you why he could not run against Obama.

Newsflash, we’re never going to gain hispanics by giving up our sovereignty. The democrats are willing to promise and give them everything. Are you willing to pay the taxes they will charge you to do that?

You think all “hispanics” are pro-illegal alien? You think that hispanic citizens after three generations still only care about that one issue??

You think “all Spanish-speaking brown people” are illegals?

I think it is pretty amazing that people think all Hispanic are one issue voters and all think the exact same way too.

You sound exactly like the Democrats throwing around racism accusations at those who disagree with you. As if any FReeper has said that every Spanish-speaking brown person should be deported.

Illegal aliens, those here illegally, should apply for legal residency or citizenship the same way that hundreds of thousands of people all over the world do. Oh my, we already have a path to citizenship in this country? Yes we do. No one is trying to stop these illegal aliens from doing the same thing, it is encouraged.

Why should one group be put to the front of the line when others have obeyed the law and spent years and years going through the hoops?

Accusing people of racism or whatever because we do not want to reward criminal behavior is not going to win any converts.

You want to surrender what is right for political reasons knowing full well these big government, leftwing immigrants have come here with their hands out for manna are not going to vote Republican, ever. My principles do not change, especially for the political winds that do not exist.

.....

Is that clear enough?

Yes, Rubio and others have joined arms with the Democrats to put the GOP into permanent minority status forever.

Obviously, we critics are the ones working for them. hahaha

You can’t support Ms Rodman and call yourself a conservative. Also when Time says something, don’t make it so. Hispanics have never been enslaved, they are not natural democrats.

Of course this is the bill they have constructed. The fix is already in. The promise it will take 10 years of probation before they can get benefits, but they have the Supreme Court and John Roberts just waiting to say again that you can’t do that. The court will grant them the very benefits Rubio says he’ll keep from them. When will our side learn. The only way to make sure they don’t get benefits is not to give it to them in the first place.

I can pretty much guarantee what will happen. Rubio will take credit for a ‘conservative’ compromise. The Supreme Court will nullify the portion that delays their benefits but the illegals will have everything else the new law gives them. Rubio will claim it’s the Court’s ruling and nothing can be done because it’s constitutional and we must obey the Constitution, yadda, yadda, yadda.

They don’t call it the stupid party for nothing.
