CHICAGO, Illinois, January 25, 2013 - A new Cold War is brewing here in Chicagos Hyde Park neighborhood and it has nothing to do with the frigid temperature. The apartment building at 832 E. 57th Street was once the Chicago home of a boy who would become a President. No, its not Barack Obama of Hawaii. It was at the apartments first floor window that a young Ronald Reagan looked out upon the world. But some powerful Chicagoans are planning to demolish Reagans historic home. Is it politically motivated? Is Mayor Rahm Emanuel behind the move? Reagan as a child. It was a different world back in 1915. Reagan's family had moved here from Tampico, Illinois. His father had gotten a job at the famed Marshall Fields now only a memory. A coin-operated gas lamp was the only homes only source of heat. But it didnt stop a young Dutch Reagan from dreaming. Young Reagan would watch the horse-drawn fire engines galloping wildly down the streets to save the day and he decided that he, too, would become a firefighter. It was here, too, that he survived a bout with pneumonia he had the fight in him even then. You can almost imagine him skipping down these streets, playing with his brother Neil, whose nickname was Moon.

“Is it politically motivated?”
Uh... let’s check the ol’ forest lavatory for bears...

HOPE & CHANGE is really
HOAX & CHAINS

While it probably is politically motivated, not every building that every president ever lived in needs to be preserved.
The home that John Adams had in Boston is long gone but his birthplace and the family house still exist.
Sort of the way St. Petersburg was changed to Leningrad? The radicals cannot help but try to rewrite history as though it never happened.
The symbolism is not wasted on the Left. This is their triumphant boot-heel on the throat moment.
Let HI host the Obama library! No one will want to see it, so it might as well be in some obscure part of the world. To even think of bulldozing over Reagan’s boyhood home is pure chutzpah! Not that the Obamas and Rham are not full of it...
Here we go again, the headline doesn’t match the story.
There is no Obama library, and no site has been chosen for it. The University of Chicago Medical Center want’s to tear down the building for THEIR OWN parking lot.
Jakarta would be a more logical place for the Obama library. Researchers who visited the library would be able to listen to the Muslim call to prayer, which Obama thinks is the most beautiful sound on earth (other than his own voice, one would assume).
want’s = wants
Lets hope and pray they do not destroy the home located at the birthplace of the Fairway King! I’m looking forward to the trip to Kenya to visit it!
I thought the Obama library was going to be in Honolulu?
I know, but being American culture is largely more materialistic than symbolic, alot of times the message is lost and often they end up screwing themselves in the process.
I rather like the symbolism - Obama once again turning anything connected with American greatness into nothing more impressive than a parking lot.
It's in the ballpark.
"While the university is planning to kill Reagans home, University of Chicago is also aggressively lobbying to be the site of President Barack Obamas presidential library."
How many of the places where President Reagan lived as a child are proposed or should be preserved for recognition? Reagan was born in 1911 Tampico, Illinois and his family moved around to various locations during the next eight years before moving back to Tampico, Illinois. Should those locations which includes the one discussed in this article be preserved also? This structure in Chicago was a place he lived for a year or so when he was between three and four years old.
It's Obozo, he'll sign an executive order for a library in each of the 57 states.
I suggest a site about 200 miles west of there.
The good news is, the city is now known as St.Petersburg, once again. Thanks!
I know the PERFECT place for the Obama Presidential Library.
It is on the Big Island of Hawaii, at a place called “South Point”. One has to go off the main highway and drive 13 miles on a badly paved one lane road to a desolate rocky point that is plagued by high winds. An rusting, abandoned wind farm blights the landscape, where a few cows attempt to coax a weed or two from between the fallen wind vanes.
Rusted wire fences line the road, warning people of the dangers and prohibiting entry.
This is the only road to the Olivine Green Sand Beach, so if you really want to see the unusual beach, the best way to view it is from the air.
I have heard that yet another “Green Energy” company has purchased the wind farm, but will probably abandon it as its predecessors have done.
A Wonderful Place to celebrate Barry’s Legacy!
Let’s be safer, lets go farther left to the Pacific Trench.
Obama isn’t worthy to shine Reagan’s shoes, much less turn anywhere he lived into a parking lot. Why isn’t his library being built in Kenya?
In my hometown, there was a street behind the university that was lined with 100 yr old oak trees and stately mansions. The AAs in the city petitioned to name that street MLK Blvd. None of them even lived near there but they just wanted to rub it in people’s faces.
It didn’t pass but I think it may almost have. For being only 13% of the population, they sure act like they own the joint.
Chicago has provided the pond scum that has spawned and kept alive the communist party in America since there were communist. I believe it was in the late 1800s that a policeman was killed in a Chicago communist riot.
Agreed.
I lived three blocks from there at 54th and Maryland. Anything west of Cottage Grove would be a problem for folks like me. The campus is starting to get too close for comfort.
Obama is so horrible that he makes Clinton look like a saint.
Shouldn’t his library be built in Indonesia or Kenya?
Are you talking about the Haymarket affair in 1886? Anarchists threw a bomb at police.
I’m not sure if that’s the one or not, I thought it was later.
Yep. Tempest in a teacup, a dirty teacup.
is this a joke, i mean really? a parking lot?
Typical muslim practice... building what amounts to a “victory mosque” over conquered territory.
Those bastards are pushing this intentionally. Pricks.
BINGO
Everything hussein does is with the intent of “in your face” to conservative Americans. This is just another example.
How many people here knew that it existed before reading this?
Comparable to the muzzies wanting to put a giant mosque near ground zero. It’s a muzzie thing.
Rahm is certainly out of control isn’t he?
Doesn’t really matter, some crappy apartment in a dying city? Who is really going to go there (especially with the gun ban they have)? Not me and not any body I know. Sure the Lib’s there are trying to rub it in the face of conservatives but it’s the ideas that matter not some apartment.
Kinda like building Dome of the Rock on Temple Mount.
When it's chosen, you won't be told where it is, and if you got in there you wouldn't be allowed to read anything.
Why doesn’t Obama put his library in Hawaii?
Isn’t that what all presidents do?
Their home state?
LOL!
This move tells a lot about Obama’s lack of a home state.
.
.
two of Mo-Hammed’s brothers:
Hussein (”maybe a little blow”)
Hasan (Fort Hood)
- just coincidences?

LOL.
You’re right.
No home state!
BFD, are y’all kidding me? Reagan lived there only a couple years as a very small child, this property has no historical significance IMO. Or maybe the Army Air Corps barracks that George Bush lived in during WWII should also be preserved as a historical monument?
Why doesnt Obama put his library in Hawaii?
Isnt that what all presidents do?
Their home state?
This move tells a lot about Obamas lack of a home state.
