Rubio staked his marker in the education-reform debate last week when he delivered a speech at the Chamber of Commerce calling for policy changes to improve the skills of the American workforce.
Education is not a high-profile topic in Washington, but some Republicans see it, along with immigration reform, as crucial to winning a key part of the electorate: women voters.
We need a champion in both areas. We lost the last election at the PTA meeting and the Hispanic chamber of commerce. Jeb Bush wins elections at the PTA meeting and Hispanic chamber, said Don Gaetz, president of the Florida Senate and a Bush acolyte.
Gaetz said Rubio would not challenge Bush in the presidential primary.
I dont think so. Marco Rubios political godfather is Jeb Bush. I dont see any way they run against each other for any office, he said.
Bush endorsed Rubio in the 2010 Florida Senate race after his opponent, Charlie Crist, dropped out of the GOP to run as an independent.
Bush presented Rubio with a samurai sword after Rubio became speaker of the Florida House in 2006, a gesture interpreted as passing on the mantle of conservative leadership in the state capitol.
John Weaver, a Republican strategist who worked for McCains 2000 and 2008 presidential campaigns, doubts Bush and Rubio will square off against each other in four years.
I dont know if theres rivalry there yet. You have someone who would be the frontrunner in Bush and you have someone who is very ambitious and in his shadow and wanting to position himself for a run if he could, he said. That could cause some friction among staff.
I dont sense a rivalry. If Jeb Bush runs, Marco cant run, he added.

Accept no substitutes.
Stay Out Da Bushes.
“We should all get used to saying Madame President”
Sarah will be inaugurated, either by election or when Marine Expeditionary forces retake the capital.
Palin/Cruz for me would be pretty much a dream ticket.
Rubio or the Krispy Kreme boys? Hell of a choice.
No...I don’t. It’s crumbling pretty fast...
Lets have another RINO so they can lose another election. Maybe this time they can be even more like rats than they were in 2008 and 2012. please no more Bushes
Bring back the whigs, liberty Party, free soil and the know Nothing's.
Anything but the friggin GOP.
You know, if I was a Democrat operative, or one of their sock puppets in the press, I would plant article after article from imaginary “insiders” pushing different Republican candidates for 2016, just to get Republicans fighting among themselves. I think it is absolutely disgusting when Republicans look toward the 2016 election instead of fighting right here and now. I believe that the failure of most Republicans to fight in 2009 and 2010 is one of the biggest factors leading to the loss in 2012.
For over two years now, ever since the GOP-E did everything it could to kneecap the tea-party movement and pour cold water on every tiny bit of grassroots energy that emanated from it, the whole political/DC/media/election/legislative scene has been one long, depressing, unending hell.
This looks like it will just be continuing.
You beat me to it. Gov. Palin is the perfect choice. She's already been vetted and vetted again. The MSM has shot their wad as far as she is concerned. There's nothing new. A debate between Mrs. Palin and Mrs. Clinton? Bring it !!
enough shrubs.... prune the tree....
We have. She lives in Wasilla.
I hope that there is someone out there!
Jeb as the 2016 nominee has been preordained since at least 2008, IMO.
Don’t even try it, Jeb. You’ll be destroyed.
Agreed, I am done with the Bushes, McCains, Doles and and other assorted -anointed losers. They have done enough damage.
Hillary will clean the clock of either Rubio (wet behind the ears) or Bush 3 (wet behind the ears). And frankly, if the GOPe tries this crap again, I’m going to vote for Hillary.
Have no problem with Rubio; like him a lot; as a matter of fact. NO Bush; Please! Absolutley, NO Christe, either. No ‘Repub’-e ‘insiders’, (include Bush here)et al. This Party needs a ‘shaking out’; big time.
