Gun Grabbers Gone Wild

The left’s gun grabbers believe that the Newtown massacre gives them a ghoulish yet golden opportunity to permanently undermine citizens’ Second Amendment rights.

Exhibit A is California Senator Dianne Feinstein’s promise to introduce a bill which will supposedly stop “the spread of deadly assault weapons.” Her bill would go far beyond the so-called “assault weapons ban” passed in 1994, but which Congress refused to reauthorize in 2004.

Feinstein’s proposal, among many other things:

• “Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.”

• “Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered.”

The only way Feinstein can accomplish the first of her two listed goals is to confiscate all such “devices” that already exist. This would be a massive, ugly — and logistically impossible — enterprise. At the Washington Post, reporter Brad Plumer wrote in mid-December that in 1994, there were “roughly 1.5 million assault weapons and more than 24 million high-capacity magazines in private hands.” Putting aside the fact that every weapon used to commit a crime against a person, including items which aren’t guns, is by any normal definition an “assault weapon,” there are surely more of the weapons and magazines Feinstein wants to see seized now than there were 18 years ago.

What’s more, their number is growing. Law-abiding citizens are responding to gun grabbers’ aggressiveness by buying any and every weapon they can, while they still can. The Associated Press reports: “The prospect of a possible weapons ban has sent gun enthusiasts into a panic and sparked a frenzy of buying at stores and gun dealers nationwide.” I would characterize what the AP describes as a “frenzy of buying” as “a wave of common sense.”

What an idea!

Don't shut down business, make the citizen a criminal.

Of COURSE it won't end pretty ... both sides are expendable, and the remainder will be sufficiently reduced to ineffectualness.

The ‘RATS whine that there is no way that they can roundup 30 million illegal aliens. How in the hell do they think they can roundup 300 million guns?

30 million guns is 10 million gunnERS.

A lot of reduction can be accomplished in a 30 year war

Think about it.

That’s because (in their minds), it’s obvious that a minority of people know what’s best for the majority.

Say... lefties... a little logical clue, for free:

People aren’t buying hardware and ammo in record quantities because they anticipate handing it over peacefully when you come to take it from them.

If Diane Feinstein does not like the Copnstitution she should move to a country with a Constitution more suited to her.

She took an oath to protect the Constitution and she is doing her best to do just the opposite.

That should tell you what her oath is worth.

Video of Gun show panic buying - Las Vegas Dec 2012

I just got an email from CDNN in Texas (sellers of "assault" rifles and mags) that there will be shipping delays due to the overwhelming demand.

I suspect they are not alone. :-)

“Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered.”

IF I did have any guns (of any type) - I would not register them. And I think most of the 80 million Americans who MAY own guns feel the same way.

Doesn’t the craziness of this just assure that it dies in the House?

While, I commend anyone wanting to get a gun, but, don’t people understand there is nothing stopping the jack-booted Bolshies from kicking in your door to get your guns. Especially, when they have your name and address.

If you used a CC or check to purchase a long gun, from a store/online, it IS ‘registered’.

If you purchased a handgun from a store, and went thru a NICS check, it IS ‘registered’.

If you bought either for cash, from an individual, with no FFL and/ or store receipt involved, they AREN’T ‘registered’.

I think Solzhenitsyn kind of addressed that subject.

Sorry, bestintxas, but your definition needed a minor edit:

Meets the definition of a lib: A very small, hate-motivated minority of the people trying to impose its will on the majority.

There is something stopping them, your gun. Survivors of the Holocaust say things would have ended differently if the Nazis kicking in their doors feared somebody was going to shoot them on the other side.

I may have sold my guns to a private party - I am not required to keep records of that. And - Um - that’s what I did - I sold them all - to buy a gift for my wife - Morgan Fairchild - yeah - that’s the ticket....

People arent buyiing firearms because they are afraid of idiots in congress & Ø
They are buying them because they are waking up to the realization that our economy is about to fold,
and then the takers are going to come after the belongings of the productive portion of the population.
