According to director/producer Noam Shalev and researcher Pablo Weschler, Adolf Hitler lived out his last days in an luxurious Argentinian hotel, instead of committing suicide in a Berlin bunker as previously thought. Their new documentary, Hitler in Argentina, attempts to make their case and is set to be released next year.
Shalev doesnt claim to be 100 percent certain about his theory. We will never know the truth, he says. But there is enough evidence to build an alternative theory about what happened to Hitler.
Weschler adds, No one believed the Russians story of Hitlers suicide in the bunker. As early as the summer of 1945, there were headlines asking, Where is Hitler? all over the world.
Recently declassified FBI documents were the push to Shalev and Weschler to begin their film. They long believed that British intelligence officer and historian Hugh Trevor-Ropers investigation into Hitlers death was unprofessional, because Russian troops did not allow access to many forensic investigators.
In those days, the FBI, not the CIA, was responsible for South America, says Weschler. And in declassified documents, we see that the FBI took very seriously the possibility that Hitler fled to Argentina.
In fact, the FBI was so convinced of this possibility that they set up a special unit to investigate. Shalev and Weschler believe they can determine Hitlers exact whereabouts after WWII. Italian journalist Patrick Burnside wrote a book entitled Hitlers Escape about the dictators journey, and the pair used it as a guide.
The Eden Hotel in La Falda, Cordoba [in Argentina] was owned by Ida and Walter Eichhorn, who were close friends of Hitler, Weschler explains. Hitler sent them a Mercedes Benz as a gift. It was the first Benz in Argentina.
According to an FBI letter from September 1945, it was believed the Eichhorns would provide Hitler shelter if he ever needed it. Weschler also claims to have found former hotel employees who say they met Hitler and waited on him after the war.
The most important evidence to Shalev and Weschler comes in the form of DNA testing done on Hitlers skill fragments in 2009, fragments that were recovered from the Berlin bunker.
They showed that they couldnt have been Hitlers skull because they were from a woman under 40, Weschler says. The more you look into it, the less credible the official version becomes, and the more plausible an alternative theory seems.
Russians' story? I've seen documentaries with purported "first-hand accounts" from Germans who claim they were in the Bunker with Hitler and poured gasoline on their bodies and ignited them after he and Eva Braun killed themselves.
During Operation Desert Storm, the Weekly World News ran a story stating that Hitler traveled to Iraq to advise Saddam Hussein on military strategy. (Hey....they couldn’t print it if it wasn’t true!)

This is not new. Back in the late 1960s this same claim was going around. MAD magazine did a spoof of a movie in which a waiter looked just like Adolph. I think the movie they spoofed was BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID.
I’m sure it was MAD, but it could have been another mag doing the spoof.
Adolph Hitler died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. End of story.
Not joking as much as you imagine. Try: http://www.holocaustresearchproject.org/trials/eichmanntrialcapture.html ~ there’s some missing time in his travels. The Indianapolis trolly system was sold to Buenos Aires Argentina ~ newspapers made regular reports on various rail cars ~ the Argentinians ran them with the old advertising still on them. Worse, the OSS not only brought a bunch of SS people to near Buffalo NY for extensive intelligence debriefing (particularly Latvians) they also brought a bunch of them to Indianapolis to work with technical investigators ~ probably the old Naval Avionics group ~ but also to work at the RCA plant then owned by Sarnoff. There’s a lot more to it ~ but I like the streetcar angle because it accounts for Eichmann’s supplemental income in a period where researchers think he was in Argentina but couldn’t quite pin it down ~ putting him in Indianapolis on a turnover deal for the streetcar system fits and gives him a serious stipend at a critical time.
I know it is true because that same paper pointed out that a then living Hitler started the 1982 war between the PLO and Israel in Lebanon.
Nazis had 1 or 2 amazingly advanced subs that would have no problem getting a select few out. Doenitz bragged about it but no one took him seriously.
The trouble with Trevor-Roper’s book is that at the time he did his investigation, he was working for British Intelligence, and he was ordered by Dick White the head of British counterintelligence (and later MI5 and MI6) specifically to rebut Stalin’s accusations that Hitler had not died in the bunker but had escaped to somewhere in the West. What conclusion would you expect him to reach under those circumstances?
Stalin? The lord of liars?
The deciple of deception?
Sure he did....
That last one looks like Stallone...
Maybe Hitler managed to get a prescription from Lisle Von Rhuman, and he lives among us yet... :-)
Could be his son, the dateline would fit. And note the last name which is pronounced close to the name of Adolph's good pal! Something to consider.
It is all documents to be 100 percent certain in this film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uX2cS8wvQHI
This researcher, Peter Lavenda, is of the opinion that Hitler survived WWII and eventually settled in a very remote part of Indonesia. He died in 1970 and was buried in Surabaya and visits his grave in this video.

Hitler’s #1 admirer George Soros is certainly doing his very best to make Hilter’s dream come true.
I once read a science fiction story based on pretty much that premise. It wasn’t very good.
Heh... “patient Adolf Hitler”... there was a US intel file on that character, and this was written about by none other than Long John Nebel, prior to 1965. Hitler committed suicide in order to avoid capture (by the Soviet Red Army, no less) and prosecution for his many crimes.
For its part, the USSR accused the western Allies of secretly harboring Hitler, after their own investigators had already determined that, not only was Hitler dead, but Stalin actually had the fragments of Hitler’s skull; not many years after the war ended in Europe, a fake diary (sourced in the USSR) emerged which purported to document Hitler’s escape aboard a U-boat; turned out the purported U-boat had been sunk in the Baltic or North Sea (I forget) in the closing weeks of the war. In the 1970s the Soviets concocted a whole set of “Hitler diaries” which showed up without real provenance in some German (or maybe E German) antique store.
Yes, passingly strange , although “elected” might be stretching it some what.
If the story is true, as it appears to be, I wonder if Adolph, or whatever was his assumed name, was ever in contact with his daughter Hildegarde (later known as Hillary)?
Who knows those urban jokes that the left makes to discredit us, accusing us of promoting Obama as Hitlers spawn, may not be so removed from the realm of possibility.
I’ve I remember right, Mengele + Co were hanging out in Argentina in the novel/movie The Boys from Brazil. Great movie with Laurence Olivier as the Nazi-hunter and Gregory Peck as Mengele. (Just read Wikipedia, which says Mengele did escape to Argentina, then went to Paraguay in 1962.)
This book by William L. Shirer:
confimrs that IMHO.
- scroll to page 1131. they have the entire book online apparently.
Maybe some day we will see the real truth about the death and quick burying of Osama bin Laden too. I have my doubts we got the real story there too.
Check it out someday. Just look up General Motors Streetcar Conspiracy.
You mean before or after Bert went invisible?
I've actually read the history.
LOL! Brilliant understatement.
And in declassified documents, we see that the FBI took very seriously the possibility that Hitler fled to Argentina.
That's one of the problems of working with historical documents. Officials at the time had to listen to every rumor and consider every possibility. That they examined or speculated about something doesn't mean it was true.
Who do you think posed for this thing?
But GM didn't need to be prosecuted ~ as soon as US 31 was four-laned and paved with an allweather surface, the central part of the interurban system in the Midwest fell apart like a chicken with its head off.
BTW, I'm just old enough to have interviewed people involved in the various deals that supported an improved road network so we didn't need interurban service.
GM, back in the day, was more like a bird ~ a rather large bird ~ but more like an opportunity feeder than a predatory raptor.
Hey it's on the internet so it must be true!
The “Eichmann as used streetcar salesman” story is more entertaining than the “Hitler lives” story that started this thread. At least it’s different. What’s your real beef with GM, anyway? And skip the sci-fi about Eichmann selling trolleys in Indianapolis.
It was considered quite an intelligence coup.
GM, though, had some folks on its board of directors (and probably in some of the more esoteric divisions in the operating company) who took competition with rail quite seriously.
I've never heard anyone tell me Hitler went to Indianapolis, but I really did know people who were familiar with the Adolph Eichmann tale of selling the trolley system to Argentina. Their parents were among those the OSS brought to town so if anyone knew, they'd know.
In the mid 1950s we had a young Hungarian lad who was placed with a family of German WWII immigrants with the requisite SS and OSS relationships ~ went to highschool with him. Actually, he rode with me 3 years! He had some interesting tales ~ and again, the high ranking Nazis involved in selling the trolley story.
I didn't invent this one ~ but I sure never forgot it.
Was it an OSS/SS joke? Is there anything to it beyond the koinkydinks? No one really knows but I think it would make a whale of a great adventure movie ~ midnight rides through town on clattering trolley cars, electrocutions as bad guys grabbed the power bar, jack turners, mysterious Hungarian mathematicians and Latvian musclemen driving fast Studebakers and slow 38 Ford flathead tractors through city streets all over the Midwest ~ they sabotage rail cars, they disrupt power lines ~ blow up silos and burn down outhouses!
You can hang anything you want on this one but don't forget to include David Sarnoff, Zarkes Tarzian, Claire Chennault, and the very model for the Dragon Lady in Terry and the Pirates, Madame Chennault!.
No sense of humor? I read your posts, didn’t I?
I can’t remember the timeline. It was a pre-Benson Inga Swenson and some other guy down in Argentina at a cafe and they cut to the waiter, and it’s a almost 90-year old Hitler.
You forgot Jim Morrison.
I’m splitting nothing, I’m stating facts. No court anywhere found them guilty of conspiring to destroy rail systems.
As for Eichmann buying trolleys for Argentina, I know that’s just something you made up.
Sorry you can’t see the humor in some “intellectual” (evidently) trying to pawn off “new” rumor to get his 15 minutes of fame or notoriety.
Have a great New Year!
Hey, I never claimed the old GM got convicted of anything, but maybe they should have ~ let’s have a good close look at the new GM’s records they picked up from the old GM. Gotta’ be a reason a hardcore Islamofascist like Obama, or his hard core Stalinist buddy Axelrod wasted so much goodwill on the GM bankruptcy.
There is much more evidence of organized crime promoting the demolition of trolley car systems to glean the metals salvage value into their coffers without being ‘tracked’. An earlier type of money laundering.
Hey, where did that green Master’s jacket come from?
By the 1950s organized crime in America had substantial legitimate investments ~ much of it in small companies that delivered parcels, packages and news print throughout major cities ~ New York was a legitimate gold mine for them ~ then, by the 1960s they'd started moving into the printing and publishing industries. That was a bit more sophisticated ~ it was mob family money, but mob family cousins without criminal records or connections (and, as I found, quite nice folks who'd learned English, finished highschool ~ with many of them having gone on to college ~ and with great church attendance records).
Stripping trollies down for scraps was probably a tiny side business of the enormous East Coast commercial refuse business they'd invested in. Keeping those cars intact for sale to latin America was certainly more profitable ~ however, when it came to track I'd bet they got most of it. As the trolleys disappeared here in DC so did the track and only later did the DC government get interested in letting contracts to have it removed.
