Egypt's Islamist Coup: Muslim Brotherhood's man claims more power than Mubarak had
Wall Street Journal ^ | 11/23/112 | WSJ Editorial Board

The Egyptian revolution took another bad turn Thursday, as President Mohamed Morsi gave himself dictatorial powers over the legislature and courts. The world has feared that the Muslim Brotherhood would favor one-man, one-vote, once, and the Morsi coup is an ominous sign.

"The people wanted me to be the guardian of these steps in this phase," Reuters quoted Mr. Morsi as saying on Friday. "I don't like and don't want—and there is no need—to use exceptional measures. But those who are trying to gnaw the bones of the nation" must be "held accountable."

Mr. Morsi says his diktat will merely last as long as it takes the country to adopt a new constitution, which is what authoritarians always say. They claim to be a necessary step on the way to democracy, but democracy never arrives. Mr. Morsi's rationalization is that he must have this power to "protect the revolution," as if the demonstrators who deposed Hosni Mubarak in 2011 merely wanted another Mubarak with a beard and prayer rug. Mr. Morsi is claiming more power than Mr. Mubarak ever had.

If Obama had an older dictator Muslim brother, he’d look like Morsi.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
-C.S. Lewis

Toss in Islam as the source of what's 'good' for its victims, and you have yourselves the new wave of theocratic autocracies, the fruits of the Arab Spring.

Mubarak was the robber Lewis' robber baron, and, more importantly, one who was friendly to American interests. And yet Obama supported his ouster in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood and its religious self-righteousness and hunger for absolute control and loss of freedom and rights.

I feel immensely sorry for the Copts. I guess at this point they should probably all just GTFO of Egypt while before they're slaughtered at Morsy's command.

So we now have a worse despot, who is not predisposed to help America and her allies, AND is an Islamic fundamentalist? That’s some foreign policy you got there, Barry.

“Obama is jealous”

The question is, when will he make his move?

Clearly, this genius was somehow able to look into his crystal ball and see America in the Twenty-first century.

We could use a few such seers now to inform the non-reading hordes of our incipient national demise; however, they seem to have belonged to a bygone era.

What I’d like to see is the MSM rerun video of the lefties over here being interviewed on the street when this “revolution” started last year in Egypt. Remember all of the tears as they cried, “All they want is democracy, just like us”? I find it difficult to comprehend such a large portion of our society being so gullible and basically stupid.

Al Qaeda won the war when they captured the White House and State Department. Now we knock over governments and install them in power. Syria is underway and Jordan is next.

I hope I’m wrong. But this is what I see. We actively recruited MB into every agency in Washington and then we elected, and reelected, O. Now our foreign policy serves their interests.

Bin Ladin is dead, true. But with MB in the White House he was more successful than he could possibly have dreamed.

I’m sure Google’s execs are on their way to Cairo right now to organize the resistance. A little Facebook and another Arab Spring and things will all be right.

True, I believe the government has bought into the political correct approach to Islam, this is very dangerous, for it will inevitably allow for them to infiltrate the highest levels of government, Huma has been groomed for such an endeavor, so will her son with former Rep. Weiner, Islam is very patient, yet the American public like its’ government is very naive with regards to racism and Islam.
