Seems to work for me, some others not so much. In any case it's a pretty good idea to help cut down on data transfer.

Tomkat, I think the problem is FR servers. Traceroute from here (Thailand) is less than 500 milliseconds - perfectly acceptable.
Maybe there was a bottleneck before at those nodes, but it’s been like that for quite a few days, and for most of those days I time out at the site, particularly when trying to read mail or pings.

I have accounts on altfreerepublic and the FreeRepublic2 websites to fall back on ... however, I don't FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter (or Tweet, or make any other bird noises). So I guess that I'll just have to miss out on all of those ...

I had a free backup bulletin board I setup years ago and that disappeared also. Darn.
