000 NOUS41 KPHI 281841 PNSPHI DEZ001>004-MDZ008-012-015-019-020-NJZ001-007>010-012>027-PAZ054- 055-060>062-067>071-291200-

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOUNT HOLLY NJ 241 PM EDT SUN OCT 28 2012

...AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS STORM TO IMPACT THE AREA...

SANDY IS EXPECTED TO SLAM INTO THE NEW JERSEY COAST LATER MONDAY NIGHT, BRINGING VERY HEAVY RAIN AND DAMAGING WINDS TO THE REGION. THE STORM IS A LARGE ONE, THEREFORE DO NOT FOCUS ON THE EXACT CENTER OF THE STORM AS ALL AREAS WILL HAVE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS.

THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE AN HISTORIC STORM, WITH WIDESPREAD WIND DAMAGE AND POWER OUTAGES, INLAND AND COASTAL FLOODING, AND MASSIVE BEACH EROSION. THE COMBINATION OF THE HEAVY RAIN AND PROLONGED WIND WILL CREATE THE POTENTIAL FOR LONG LASTING POWER OUTAGES AND SERIOUS FLOODING.

PREPARATIONS SHOULD BE WRAPPING UP AS CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO WORSEN TONIGHT AND ESPECIALLY ON MONDAY.

SOME IMPORTANT NOTES...

1. IF YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO EVACUATE A COASTAL LOCATION BY STATE AND LOCAL OFFICIALS, PLEASE DO SO.

2. IF YOU ARE RELUCTANT TO EVACUATE, AND YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO RODE OUT THE `62 STORM ON THE BARRIER ISLANDS, ASK THEM IF THEY COULD DO IT AGAIN.

3. IF YOU ARE RELUCTANT, THINK ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONES, THINK ABOUT THE EMERGENCY RESPONDERS WHO WILL BE UNABLE TO REACH YOU WHEN YOU MAKE THE PANICKED PHONE CALL TO BE RESCUED, THINK ABOUT THE RESCUE/RECOVERY TEAMS WHO WILL RESCUE YOU IF YOU ARE INJURED OR RECOVER YOUR REMAINS IF YOU DO NOT SURVIVE.

4. SANDY IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS STORM. THERE WILL BE MAJOR PROPERTY DAMAGE, INJURIES ARE PROBABLY UNAVOIDABLE, BUT THE GOAL IS ZERO FATALITIES.

5. IF YOU THINK THE STORM IS OVER-HYPED AND EXAGGERATED, PLEASE ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION.

WE WISH EVERYONE IN HARMS WAY ALL THE BEST. STAY SAFE!

Ha, I surf for real and I went up on the boardwalk in Ocean City Maryland to check the waves this morning. I didn’t want anything the ocean was throwing at the shore. A mixing bowl of 12-15 foot waves breaking up to the seawall. Bigger waves breaking offshore on shoals that only break when it gets over 15 foot. It was so windy I was getting sandblasted not even on the beach. Half of OCMD was flooded when I evac’ed this morning.

Sure I have seen bigger waves. Hurricane Bill sent some amazing big swell several years ago, which I surfed without incident, but without the on beach winds. Today was something different. The center of this storm was still over 400 miles away!

Tomorrow night they are calling for waves in the 30 foot range in the coastal waters. This is pretty rare for near shore waters in this area. I can’t really remember these conditions in the past 20 years. Maybe Hurricane Bob in ‘89.

All storms are dangerous, even tropical ones. Floods, not just from excessive rains, but tidal surge, backing up creeks and rivers inland for miles, can destroy billions in property and many lives. People who live many miles inland think they are safe, but it is a false security.........

My town is on the Hudson and we flood when someone knocks a cup of water over. We are going to have a very big mess here no matter what happens.

This means we’re approaching some new element about Bengazi that is going to REALLY damage The Regime and they’re trying to take command of the next 5 day news cycle via weather orgies.

You may be right.

I do remember Galveston. I think that was around the early 1960s. Those people had no warning at all. Tragic loss of life.

Not complaining about warning people and urging them to be prepared and/or to evacuate. I just don’t think I have to watch a reporter being blown away. I really worry about those guys.

How does it feel different?

Took my dog out for a walk and there is a lot of activity on the streets here all the time but tonight it’s a ghost town. Hospital is evacuating and there are lines of ambulances waiting to get people out of there. That’s all you see; ambulances lined up and nobody out but a few people walking our dogs.

“Could anything man-made survive that?”

Not sure if anything man made would survive it, but us surfers and surf fisherman are willing to give it a go.

Obama’s loss will be blamed on the Hurricane. His people were without power and couldn’t get out to vote.

Too bad for them. I’m almost definitely going to be without power, and I wll crawl to my polling place to vote for Mitt if I have to, might even have to swim.

The charts show the area within which the storm might go. It won’t literally spread out that wide.

As is noted on the map, the white area is the projected storm track, which gets more uncertain the further into the future you go, hence the widening area. More here.

Check out Google's interactive map. You can check and uncheck different layers (e.g., Cloud imagery), and you can click on the map for additional information.

Sandy is a Cat 1 storm. And a minimum Cat 1 at that.

We have parties in FLA for Cat 1 storms. We roll over and hit the snooze button for anything less than Cat 3.

This is fear porn designed to take the oxygen out of Benghazi-gate. Bait-and-switch for the sheep. What’s the worst that happens, they can’t watch MNF or American Idle?

Maybe this will be the catalyst for declaring martial law and suspending the elections.
You know they want to do it.

This is a storm. It is going to be very impressive. Take a look at how huge it is and the center is not due to hit land till 24 hours from now.

Three high tides It’ll go through and it will still head up and flood New England.

It’s going to collide with a huge winter storm coming in from the NW which will cause it to stall out.

there have never been mandatory evac from the Jersey Shore that anyone in my family, who has been there since the ‘thirties can remember.

It is not an Obama creation. If it does coincide with the election then it is from supernatural causes (God perhaps).

Obama may use it to an extent that annoys us to no end, we’ll see.

But Benghazi will not go away. It is not a hhyped up story, the American ambassador was killed in country.

Americans will get an education on wht an ambassador is, because they sure don’t seem to know yet. Journalists seem to have no respect for the story but they will.

The truth is that this is huge. The House and Senate will have to get involved and the Admin can wish, but they’re going to find out they’ve misunderestimated the rule of law and the constitution.

The cover up itself is huge. THen what we find out what the cover up was covering up, it will be huge.

Bigger than Sandy.

My opinion.
