Prop. 30 our best chance to help schools [a gag-inducing editorial from Modesto Bee]
Modesto Bee ^ | Oct 28 2012 | Editors

As the election campaign enters its final days, there's little doubt that Gov. Jerry Brown's tax measure is losing support among California voters. That's unfortunate. If Proposition 30 fails, the impact will be devastating for our schools. We understand the frustration of voters wanting to send politicians a message about taxes. It's too bad that this very responsible proposal could be the victim of years of mismanagement in Sacramento by arrogant elected officials. But don't make a bad situation worse. We urge voters to take another look at Proposition 30. It's our best chance to stabilize the state's finances and ensure that schools at all levels are adequately funded. If we don't invest in our schools, we are guaranteeing that California won't be able to compete in a 21st-century economy.

Please forgive Modesto. It used to be a nice, reasonable little town. Now it’s horrible.

Forty cents of every California state tax dollar goes
to K-12 education. Brown and the ‘Rat legislature does
everything possible to run the tax base out of the state
and now they come to the remaining taxpayers hat-in-hand.

Brown, show me how you are going rein in the unions and
the education bureaucracy. Show me how you are going
to bring business back to the state because you know
your green industry crap is nothing but a joke. Do
this and then ask for money.

So, they are raising an army of geniuses who will lead us to a great and prosperous future, right?

Screw 30. It does nothing for the schools and in a round about way just feeds plush civil Union pensions.

Sounds like Prop. 30 is failing - as it should be.

Don’t get me started on that. My father worked for 20 yrs
for the State Dept of Ed (vocational ag) in Sac and has always
said the biggest waste of taxpayer money is in the way they
spend education funds.

Jeez, It boggles the mind that anyone would buy into this “invest in our schools” nonsense that the left pushes. Giving these politicians more money is like giving an addict more drugs.

They’ll soon run out of money on waste, fraud and other abuse and be back pushing more “investment” nonsense.
