TOPICS: Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: china; greatfamine; mao; starvation
This video is a real life horror tale of famine, torture, murder, and other unimaginable, real world brutalities that happened after Mao collectivized the farmland, housing, tools, food, and other property in China. The author explains that without private ownership, there was no incentive to grow food, housing literally disappeared, everyone became a thief, and people sold their own children for a handful of grain.

Ukrainians ate their own babies in the famine caused by Stalin.

Wait. Who has a top adviser that admires Mao? Oh yeah. Obama.

Extremely interesting and well done. Communism is such an evil and brutal ideology. Thanks for posting.

I would add The Black Book of Communism

It reads a little rough, translated from French, a bit like a text book. The premise is to run through every communist government, their tactics to gain power, the way they maintained power, and the number of people that died as a result. Agrarian reform is a central tenet of communism. The results are always disastrous. The conclusion of the book is that it is on purpose. In addition to the normal famines the reds brought to China they also killed off a lot of Tibetans by forcing the cultivation of rice. Rice doesn't grow in that environment. The Tibetan staple is barley.

I can say that I know this happened because among the first employees at my late mom's business when she was running a garment factory in Hong Kong in the 1960's were escapees from China during the height of the Great Leap Forward.

In the late 1970's, some of these employees started to tell tales that Kikotter documented in his book--tales of unspeakable torture, labor camps, and outright forced famine. It is hard to tell how many died, but modern estimates are somewhere north of 35 million dead between 1958 and 1962 alone. We may never know what happened between 1949 and 1976 in terms of deaths, but I would NOT be surprised if the figure of people killed during the rule of Mao Zedong may approach 100 million--nearly ten times what the Nazis did between 1933 and 1945.

That book looks like a great resource. Why isn’t this book required reading in High Schools? Both books should be forced in the curricula of every high school and then we should drench the kids in John Locke and Adam Smith before they graduate. None could stomach voting for a Mao and Marx lover like zero. (You would hope).

Ukrainians

Stalin had his henchmen go into Ukrainian households and remove food from their cupboards.

Stalin had his henchmen go into Ukrainian households and remove food from their cupboards.

They didn't just remove food, they removed all seeds for growing the next harvest, and all farm implements to do the work of a farmer. They were left with nothing. They even often found anything that was buried to try to hide it from them. They searched their homes and farms carefully, so as to leave nothing.

Brought to you by big government. Except for companies enlisted by the likes of Hitler, I can’t think of any big corporation that killed so many citizens as big governments.

And very few people will ever see it. The MSM certainly won’t cover this. Was surprised to see someone affiliated with Harvard talking about this failure of communism. Going to chalk that up to a broken clock being right on occasion...

Ooops. Not failure of communism. Rather a direct and intended goal of communism.

Hey “obamaphone” morons: You would die first. But unlike the rest of us, YOU WOULD DESERVE IT. Too bad for everyone else that you really are just too dang stupid to grasp these facts.

Let me take the opportunity to promote my own film “Rockin’ the Wall” on, of all places, PBS! Airings start this week, including big markets such as LA, Chicago, Detroit. Go to www.rockinthewall.com for times, dates, and stations. We like to complain that PBS is too liberal, so here is a conservative film about free markets, American culture seen in a positive light, and the oppression of communism.
