And so begins our annual 7th TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot.

Thank you humble gunner for the graphic.

TexasCowboy (aka COB1) was a true Texas gentleman, great friend, patriot, and a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment. It is truly an honor to continue a tradition he started many years ago, hosting shoots for FRiends around the great state of Texas.

Many FReepers are coming into town on Thursday so that they can have a tourist day on Friday. Those lucky people are going to be made (a good) miserable Thursday evening by enjoying TheMom’s Kick Ass Enchilada’s.

The only set tourist place is The Lady Lex.

Friday evening we will meet at Captain Benny’s, 103 Fulton Beach Road Fulton, TX 78382, at 8:00 p.m., for a delicious seafood dinner. (They do not take credit cards or serve liquor ~ so remember to bring your cash & booze.)

Saturday morning we meet for breakfast at Alice Faye’s, 910 North Fulton Beach Road, Fulton, TX 78358, at 8:00 a.m. The shoot is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. at, Schwenke’s Gun & Pistol Range, 4407 FM 1069 Aransas Pass, TX, 78336. Mr. Schwenke has reserved the 25 yard shooting station for our group to use as “home base”. The only major rule at this range is do not shoot the livestock. A BBQ lunch will be served at 12:30ish.

Once the shooting is done some of us will be going to the Rockport Seafair, while others will go back to the Pelican Bay cottages for some R&R. Saturday evening will be filled with yummy junk food and margaritas!

According to the forecast, it looks as the weather will be perfect. Lows in the mid-sixty’s, highs in the mid-eighty’s.

BTW, I have to warn you, if you ever come to Georgia, we are a very antigun state, and I doubt we have any guns or shooting ranges at all.

I think the best we would manage is maybe a sharpened butter knife. They HATE guns in Georgia.

Well it was rotten that the Mrs and I were not there for the festivities:-(

I got Mrs alfa6 home this afternoon, 5 days in the body and fender shop was enough. The Mrs can get around some and she can get herself to the potty with minimal assistance, always a good thing, eh:-)

The next two weeks will be a lot of walking and going up and down the two steps between the den and the lower level of the house. Hopefully in a day or two we will be tooling up and down the sidewalk a few times a day. The Dr and several of the nurses really pushed the waking routine.

One more thing, all of the nurses and staff at the hospital were really wonderful, they really went out of their way to help the wife out when I was not there and even when I was, ha!.

Once again I guess my motto will be, NEXT YEAR!!!

Introduce him to Bryan (TOL’s hubby); he was skeptical about coming to this shoot and ended up having such a good time that he wants to come to the next one. It also might be a good idea have him tag along to save money. LOL

The river near New Braunfels is the Guadalupe. Right now the issue I am having is finding a place that is reasonably priced.

Right now the issue I am having is finding a place that is reasonably priced.

How about looking at places during the "not hot as hell" months?

Is there a law that we can't have a shoot in cool weather?

There is no set rule or law regarding the date of the shoot.

The reason for having it in June is to give a chance for those that have kids involved in school and Fall sports to attend.

Personally I would love for TheGirl to attend every shoot, but when it is held in the Fall she cannot make it because of college classes.
