Full title: The gift of life: Grandmother, 53, gives birth to her own grandchild after cervical cancer left her daughter infertile
It is perhaps one of the greatest gifts a mother could give.
A woman in her 50s has given birth to her own grandchild after becoming a surrogate mother for her infertile daughter.
Cindy Reutzel, 53, gave birth to a healthy baby girl a week ago who will now be brought up by her 32-year-old daughter Emily Jordan.

Gee, that’s not weird at all. Nope, not at all.
All right, well, that’s it for me.... The world just got too weird.
NO?
well you couldn't understand..
I was childless for 11 years so I understand this young woman and I'm thrilled for her and Proud her mom was able to do this for her...
We were fortunate to adopt a son, and am grateful everyday of my life that the young girl did not abort him but chose life.
He is now an adult and we love him more every day..he is truly our gift.
I wish the best for this new family..modern medicine is wonderful..
Gee, I guess they didn’t feel it in their hearts to adopt a child that needed a loving home? They had to hit up grandma to do all the construction.
You’re right, I’m not childless and I’m not a woman. But sheesh, what exactly are we telling the kid when they get old enough to ask?
It's theorized, for example, homosexuality is caused by hormone doses during womb development and the older the pregnant woman, the higher the incidence rate.
This isn't healthcare. It's selfishness. It's perversion in the guise of progress.
You followed the right path of adoption. This selfish mother and her selfish daughter, enabled by "modern medicine," did not.
THE TRUTH..that is what we did with our son, and he has never given us a problem ever..
truth matters...obama should try it!!!’
For some reason, I can envision the child growing up and being in a strange scene similar to the one from “Chinatown” with Faye Dunaway and Jack Nicholson.
Yeah the truth, but that truth gives implications of “who the hell am I?”
Look, all that aside I go back to the important issue that maybe adoption is the wiser and more noble course of action to take in such a case.
I mean Grandma? Really? They could have paid a surrogate, right? This brings keepin it in the family to a whole new level. :^)
and I think it is a private matter, and that the mother loves her daughter and felt the need to help her..
today adoption is not as easy as when we adopted, not that it was easy for us the wait was long..3 years but going through the process was wonderful, as we had an angel for a case worker.
today many go to foreign land to adopt and that saddens me, as there are children here that need families. today the birth parents want to have involvement with the child once they surrender, no way would We have done that,,
once our son was given to us and we went to court one year later, HE WAS OURS.
NOT FLESH OF MY FLESH
NOR BONE OF MY BONE,
STILL MIRACLOUSLY MY OWN,
HE DIDN'T GROW UNDER MY HEART
HE GREW IN IT.
P.S. at the end of the article the remarks were very supporting and positive, nicer than HERE..
the sperm and egg who made this child is the parents, the grandma loaned her womb as a nesting place for the baby..the Cell’s created the baby..
as an adopted parent I have NO problem with this..I might add after we adopted our son three years later I gave birth to a baby girl. so We got two gifts in our lives.
Yeah, somehow I just knew you were gonna go there. You don't get what I'm trying to say so have a nice day.
