By BULLETIN, AP REPORTS -
Former congressman Virgil Goode said Tuesday that a judges determination that a Virginia election law is unconstitutional will not affect his candidacy for president.
U.S. District Judge John Gibney on Monday struck down a law that allowed only state residents to circulate petitions to get presidential candidates on the general election ballot.
Ruling in favor of the Libertarian Party of Virginia, Gibney said the restriction severely burdened the partys freedom of speech and is not narrowly tailored to promote a compelling state interest.
Goode, who lives in Rocky Mount and formerly represented the 5th District in the U.S. House of Representatives, is the Constitution Partys presidential candidate in the Nov. 6 election. He said the ruling will have no effect on his candidacy because everyone who has circulated petitions for him has been from Virginia, although he and some petitioners have gone out of state to gather some signatures from voters.
The law, as it stood, was fine with me, Goode said. However, he said that different states have different laws, and he thinks the judge probably looked at that factor in making his ruling.

He’d make a damned good Veep pick. Just sayin’
You could theoretically find your nominating petitions rejected if you used out of state collectors.
The real deal though was the cut off set by the state committee for when a pile of nominating petitions was sufficient that it didn't need to be reviewed for accuracy or completeness.
Traditionally the state party had done the reviews at a relatively low cut off level ~ 10,000 or so. This year just three days before the deadline to hand them in they set it at 15,000 ~ and only one candidate had that many. That meant the others would be reviewed.
Newt and Perry had claimed more than 10,000, as had Paul. The reviewers rejected some of Newt's ~ something like 1500 or so ~ on the grounds they were fraudulent or fraudulently obtained by a commercial campaign nominating petition signature collector. Perry actually came up with less than 10,000 ~ although under prior rules his simple claim of exceeding 10,000 would have gotten him past any review. Paul's folks had over 10,000 and passed the review.
So, as soon as that was all done ~ skullduggery and all ~ one of the older volunteer petition reviewers and his wife who live in a rural area in Central Virginia appeared to have run off the road and hit a tree not far from their home. He died. Haven't heard about her condition for some time.
So, a KOINKYDINK? I didn't think so at the time and I still don't.
Virgil hasn’t killed any campaign workers
When Bolling was faced with a downstream problem with his own nomination for Governor next year, he found he had to go to the State Committee to get a reconfirmation of their decision to hold a PRIMARY.
Bolling wanted a primary ~ really, really, really bad. His biggest competitor for the Governorship is "The Cooch", state attorney general Cucinnelli ~ and he wanted a CONVENTION!
So, which way do you imagine the state committee went? Now mind you this is a very Conservative state committee and they saw how the Mittbots stole the primary, and who did it ~ ?
Surprise, surprise ~ the state committee handed Bolling his head on a platter, denied him the use/misuse of the primary system, and elected to go to a CONVENTION ~ which, truth be told, gives it all away to Cucinnelli or another Conservative.
Bolling and the other leftwingtards here are being EASED, or is that OOZED, out of active political life as rapidly as can be arranged legally.
Whether Romney wins or not, he is UNWELCOME in Virginia! So are his henchmen and other running dog lackeys.
Then how come Ron Paul was able to get on the ballet. Face it Newt dropped the ball and how long his was living in Virginia??
In fact, and I"m certainly not a Paulista, Ron Paul was the ONLY candidate who passed the verification!
Romney's submissions were never verified. He could have asked to have that done anyway, just to show he had an honest campaign, but his failure to do so is a clear demonstration of the fact he did not then, nor does he now, have an honest campaign team.
I think his moral code is defective when it comes to the complex doctrines surrounding 'sins of omission'. Just isn't there!
It's that simple. Only a mind numbed robot like knee jerk leftwingtard would imagine a vote for Goode, is a vote against Romney and for Obama.
Neither Romney nor Obama were going to get those votes for Goode.
So, even if he loses, the Goode campaign sends a message to the big boys to not mess with the primaries anymore.
LOL! What the Va gop did would make your Cook county politicos proud. The Va gop couldn’t just say that “we only want willard on the ballot,” what they did instead was say that they would only review the nominating petitions for the candidates who were NOT on the 2008 ballot. Only two candidates that were on the 2012 ballot were on the 2008 ballot as well: willard and Ron Paul. So all the candidates other than those two had their nominating petitions reviewed with a fine tooth comb.
Oh and how the petitions would be reviewed was announced less than a week before the deadline for submission.
Cute huh?
Then, According to you, evidently, a majority of Republicans who don't know anything about voting and are easily lied to and cheated into undermining themselves.
I voted for Gingrich in the CA primary. Unfortunately I was outnumbered. Take it for what it is, I guess. But I think a vote for anyone other tham Romney in the general will be a vote for soetoro, and I just can't do that. I want to give my country at least a shred of hope for survival.
onedoug, death of the country is coming, its 2 years with obama maybe 4 years with romney...if the GOPe wanted to win they shouldve picked a conservative, trust me this wouldve been one election where a far right winger would have won by a landslide, instead romney might barely pull it off to gain nothing.

Giving another four years to the worst ever, most destructive administration, pro-muzzie, pro-death, pro-Marxist, etc., etc. to "send a message" might be even the single dumbest idea I've ever heard.
In the vernacular, it's been called cutting off your nose to spite your face.
“The idea that a bunch of RINO squishes are as bad as a bunch of full throttle Marxists has got to be one of the stupidest ideas I have ever heard.”
No one said anything of the sort. And you know it. Your rhetorical technique of implying that those who disagree with you are stupid or unpatriotic is tiresome.
The key issue for myself and many other conservatives is what level of damage each major party candidate is likely to do if elected to office. A socialist with an R after his name who will be completely unrestrained by congress, or a radical socialist with a D after his name who will be somewhat restrained? I and many others think it’s pretty much a Sophie’s choice: we lose either way.
If you wish to vote for Any Socialist But Obama, then do so. But don’t expect validation and praise for your actions on a conservative political forum.
I call hysterical, fear mongering, nancy boy boosheet!
That's exactly what you are saying. Sorry, there is no restraining a full throttle Marxist who hates America.
So, you're obviously right, let's give him another four years to complete his destructive task.
Great thinking. Such thoughtful conservatism........deep......profound......pure.......
My! How virile, nube.
Earlier join dates don't magically endow one with with more Conservative credibility, and kissing the hinders of the liberal leaders of the queer agenda proves that one never really was. A republican, maybe, but not a Conservative.
>> Killing babies is wrong,
Nascent life will have a better chance of survival with 3 Republican Houses than 2.
In my humble opinion, there’s increased risk of more abortion with another Obama term. This is one of my moral metrics for POTUS 2012.
I didn't start out wanting Romney anywhere near the Presidency - I just hate the thought of Obama going another 4 than I hate the fact thaty Romney is the only other with a chance.
You guys seem to ignore just how bad Obama is and have these high hopes that, if you atre successful in stopping Romney, the train will somehow stop instead of running us all down.
