Obama's Vision Places Government, Not People, First (by Charles Krauthammer)
Investor's Business Daily ^ | July 19, 2012 | Charles Krauthammer

Posted on 07/21/2012 12:51:33 PM PDT by Innovative

"If you've got a business - you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Barack Obama, Roanoke, Va., July 13

And who might that somebody be? Government, says Obama. It built the roads you drive on. It provided the teacher who inspired you. It "created the Internet." It represents the embodiment of "we're in this together" social solidarity that, in his view, is the essential origin of individual and national achievement.

...

Limited government so conceived has two indispensable advantages. It avoids inexorable European-style national insolvency. And it avoids breeding debilitating individual dependence. It encourages and celebrates character, independence, energy and hard work as the foundations of a free society and a thriving economy -- precisely the virtues Obama discounts and devalues in his accounting.

As I posted on another thread, it’s pretty simple when you just look at which came first: Ford’s car (and those of other early automakers preceded roads, especially paved roads; the Wrights’ airplane preceded airports; steamships preceded canals; and the PC-—which made the Internet possible-—preceded the Internet. Indeed, each critical element of the Internet, including Bell’s modem, Andreasson’s Netscape, Hewlett Packard’s microprocessor; all made the Internet actually work commercially.

I would rather have a poorly performing economy that is guided by the principles of a free market than a centrally planned and government-controlled economic system that appears to work amazingly well. Beware, fellow FReepers - this may be a choice we will have to make some day.

The next pronouncement by Obama will state that all businesses belong to the people of the United States. He will nationalize all businesses just like his hero Chavez has done.

We will all be guaranteed jobs in the Obama state....and housing....and healthcare. But there will be no unemployment compensation....because there will be no unemployment, Comrade.

It's all about the redistribution of the wealth, as He said.

There is one BIG problem with your statement — “centrally planned and government-controlled economic system that appears to work amazingly well” is a BIG LIE. It has been PROVEN that government controlled economic systems DO NOT WORK. PERIOD. It has been tried in the Soviet Union and Eastern block countries, Cuba, N Korea — the only reason China is doing well is exactly because they are allowing some free enterprise.

The ONLY system proven to work IS the free enterprise system — the more the government interferes with this, the worse it gets.

For the conservative, providing for every need is the duty that government owes to actual orphan children. Not to supposedly autonomous adults.

Not even that camel's nose Mr. Krauthhammer. Caring for the orphan is a classic function of private charity, not government.

In fact, one of the central purposes of the Marxist attack on religious freedom is to produce an indentured constituency. The bigger and more numerous they are, the more voters there are willing to allow government the power to control the marketplace, to the benefit of the extremely rich: the limousine liberal.

Obama is so out of step. Even if I think somebody or something else helped build my business, government isn’t on the list.

Government is the pain in the ass tax man and buerocrats who drive every businessman crazy.

Why should anyone lend credibility to what Krauthammer says. He was a shameless shill for John Roberts health care decision.

Good afternoon.

"If you've got a business - you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Just like a FReeper stated before: "if you've got a Nobel Prize - you didn't make that happen. Somebody else made that happen."

We have got to get rid of this fool in November, otherwise we will not recognize the U.S. in four years.

I believe that to be true. If Obama wins by hook or by crook, the SHTF and ‘action’ will need to be taken for the common good.
Prepare accordingly.
