ABC News and Brian Ross are apologizing for an "incorrect" report that James Holmes, the suspect in the Colorado theater shooting, may have had connections to the Tea Party.

"An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect," ABC News said in a statement. "ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted."

In a similar statement released minutes earlier, ABC News said the report was "incorrect" but, rather than apologize, wrote: "Several other local residents with similar names were also contacted via social media by members of the public who mistook them for the suspect." The statement appeared at first to be an attempt byt the network to abdicate responsibility for the report.

How sick in the head is Brian Ross and ABC News that one of the first things they do in reporting this story is to go look up whether the shooter is a Tea Party member?? How craven and partisan can the US news media get?? I mean honestly-—their first thought is political and let’s see how we can get political advantage for Obama and the Democrats out of this?? At what point does the FEC start to go after the US news media for illegal campaign support of the Obama campaign, both in 2008 and in 2012? The media has so thoroughly whored itself out to this empty suit president that there is nothing that’s too low for them to stoop to. Buy your soul back Mr. Ross!

A question for the lawyers out there: Is a lawsuit against Ross and Stephanopoulos and ABC still a viable one, even though ABC apologized for the “incorrect Tea Party report?
No guarantee everyone who read and heard this slander will read or hear that ABC apologized. I say not good enough.

The leftstream media needs to get its feet burned at every opportunity. They only care when it involves money.

Everyone needs to remember one thing. While Ross and every other ‘jump the gun’ propagandist needs to be held responsible, most of them are just a face and a voice. The producers/editors behind the scenes are the people who put the words and accusations in their mouths.

None of the on air personalities takes direct calls from the public/people ‘reporting’. The info ALL goes through an editor/producer and WRITER before being blabbed at random.

the ‘reporter on the scene’ segments are all done under a ‘ROE’ policy set by the station/company. There’s a lot of people guilty for these ‘mistakes’.

“What I take away from this is that the MSM is scared to death of the Tea Party. These cowards know they are lying and fear that the Tea Party might go vigilante on them.”
Go Vigilante? Harmless little fuzzballs like Rush and the TP? The MSM is afraid that we’ll show up and vote to return freedom and the rule of law to America.

Someone having a gun would have been great, but there are gun free zones all over. OTOH, If the Leaders of this Country motivated the youth of this Country with a combative spirit of Tough Hard Working Individualists, well we might have seen another LetsRoll moment. A couple of hundred bodies rising up would have overwhelmed him quickly. Some would have died, but he would been stopped and future terrorists would be faced with a tougher target.

Of course, back in 2001 we didn’t have a President encouraging taking handouts as more important than getting a good education and hard work.

I’m guessing there was a report that he was a doctoral student and someone thought it meant Med. Dr.

I saw another site that said phD student.

At any rate, the FR Hussein Heads have been working as hard as they ever have today spewing lies and horseclinton.

amazing how fast they could “use investigative journalism” and find this out, yet no attempt to confirm...
birth records
college transcripts
ssn
passport info etc...

Excellent point!!

Last night’s mass murder in a Colorado theater, without a doubt, is a horrific and unspeakable tragedy. However, as much as I grieve for the victims, their families, I refuse to blame an inanimate object – guns – rather than the actual lawbreaker…James Holmes. Liberals live to shamelessly politicize such tragedies – case and point, immediately blaming the Tea Party – hoping our Second Amendment rights will be stripped away by whipping public anger into a vacuum of mass hysteria. These same constitutional terrorists, who can’t keep drugs off the streets, let alone out of our schools, would leave us at the mercy of thugs and lowlife opportunists, not to mention vulnerable to government tyranny; Thomas Jefferson’s most profound reason for defending our right to bear arms. In essence, gun control is the final lynch pin in the left’s ultimate goal of uncontested subjugation.

The real tragedy in this endless debate is that the media never reports how times firearms save lives, feed families, foil crimes, and guard freedom around the globe. I could not imagine lying awake at night, knowing my family was at the mercy of some deranged intruder while I was powerless to protect them. I’m an American, a patriot, a law abiding citizen, and there’s a reason why I keep a Glock 20/10mm beside my bed at night: I refuse to be a statistic. And just in case you want one, over 50 million gun owners did not commit a crime last night. You do the math.

Wow! That is a GREAT Tweet to @BrianRoss

I hope the ABC execs see it and all the others and consider getting rid of the man.
