Romney has let Obama pretty much define him this summer with hardly a response at all.

Well, the truth is that Romney isn't even the official nominee yet.

“...the truth is that Romney isn’t even the official nominee yet.”

THANK YOU!

Everybody on this thread should read that. Why?

Becasue he isn’t yet the Republican candidate. We will have a candidate at the end of the convention in Tampa this coming August.

And it ain’t over until the balloons drop.

One thing is certain.
Obama is taking on water.

I want to see BHO2 out of the USA! No way do I want him to stay here.

Romney wants to be President because his daddy couldn’t, having been born in Mexico.

Just having the desire to be President isn’t enough. Mitt Romney has to sell voters on why he would be a good president, what he believes and how that would work well for the USA.

So far, he isn’t doing that and time is flying by, with the convention day getting closer and closer.

There are delegates to the convention, thoroughly angered at having to sign allegience pledges to Romney, who are threatening to abstain from voting during the first round.

Frankly, I hope they do abstain. An open free-for-all at the convention would be cathartic for the Republican Party.

I don’t like nor trust Romney but it seems obvious that he is screwing up his election chances and thereby handing the WH to Obama, even more than McCain did.

Romney thinks he can sale into the WH running as an empty suit just because the economy is bad. Meanwhile Obama is nuking him in negative ads.

The irony is that the RINOs here in my state told me we have to nominate Romney because he is the MOST electable, 4 years earlier they said the same about McCain.

Now the Romney primary pushers are having second thoughts, too late.

Ok I will bite. How is Romney NOT going to be the nominee? I do not think he will withdraw and that is the only way.

Trouble? I would not say Obama is having trouble. Just not as much as Romney. Not including super PAC it is pretty close.

Yep perfect example. Some Dems say do not go
After Bain. The campaign did not listen and kept attacking. Polling shows it is working and Mitt is silent!

A couple of months ago I was ripped for a statement that Romney was a lousy campaigner.

Hmm... a shame you didn't reply with the video of Romney debating Kennedy.

“I believe the last month has shown how weak a candidate Romney is.”

Agreed.... Romney’s strength as a candidate has been in running primary campaigns that utilize third parties to conduct a smear campaign against his opponets. I remember a couple of months ago of a comment by Romney concerning this in effect saying cynically about the electorate... “they’ll get over it when I’m the nominee, There’s no where else to go.”

All I can say is that Romney seems to be relying on the disgust people feel for Obama to carry him to the top. He’s positioning himself as the anti-Obama candidate.

Don’t believe that that’ll be enough....Then again I don’t have much faith in Romney’s ability to lesd the nation.

Any hope for a National turnaround lies in a Conservative majority in Congress. Holy bat poop!..... now I’m really scared!

“Frankly, I hope they do abstain. An open free-for-all at the convention would be cathartic for the Republican Party.”

I agree. What a fine sight that would be! Even so it may just be another recipe for disaster....Never underestimate the Republican Moderate’s ability to blow it right out of the sure thing bag.

You sound like Romney. Sinking, taking on water. Please get specific my post above shows exactly what I think Romneys mistakes are. How is Obama sinking? He is blasting Mittens and it is having an effect.

I am a poll geek. I read them all not just the ones we like. I look at samples and weighting. It is easy to see Mitt is in trouble. Unfavorables have moved significantly since Bain. I do not see Obama taking on water at this time. We had a bad jobs report in June and Obama has gained. Tomorrows looks better than expected. If rate drops and 175k or more jobs added hard to see any water over the side without Mittens getting off his duff and start hitting back. He is flailing and off message right now

If Romney doesn’t clinch the nomination on the first vote, then voting continues until a candidate receives the required number. Doesn’t matter whether he pulls out, concedes, or whatever.

In the 1920 Republican Convention, it took 16 votes for a candidate to be chosen - Warren Gamaliel Harding. His running mate was Calvin Coolidge. Neither was the man thought to be the candidate before the convention. They both went on to make history.

It happened before, it can happen again!

I suspect that Romney will be a really nasty loser.
