For those wondering what came next after Obamacare, the answer is here: a national vacation policy. Yesterday, Derek Thompson of The Atlantic suggested that the United States was the only advanced country without a national vacation policy:
In Germany, workers are guaranteed a month. In the UK, they're guaranteed more than five weeks of paid vacation. In the U.S., unique in its class, there is no such guarantee. There's your American exceptionalism.

Same. Hate vacations. I enjoy driving for the sake of it and will tool around as long as I don’t have to do anything else, but my idea of a vacation is a week of sleep and shooting computer-generated zombies.
This guy is not paying attention,Obama beat him to it,Obama has a National Vacation Policy,99 weeks of paid Vacation, you then get Disability for Life
I was in Germany some time back and talked to several Germans. I said it must be nice to know they have health care, 95% of their wages if they get laid off, and so much vacation time. They responded the government takes most of their wages to pay for these benefits that they really can’t afford to go anywhere or do anything except to go home and watch TV. They’ve gladly would trade all of it for money to be able to do things.
This is what we have to look forward to.
Just fired my last employee.
Problem solved!
Nah, it's because he's offended that the people still left paying taxes are offended by the proliferate lifestyle he & Muchelle lead at the taxpayer expense in the BHO economy that his ego needs the grumblings to be turned down, so he puts forth the this ridiculous notion so that all the propaganda sheets will pimp it as the greatest thing since ObamaCare.
How about NATIONAL INTERNMENT CAMPS for progressive enemies of the Republic... that is a NATIONAL PROGRAM that I can back 100%. Let’s start with the author of this garbage.

.......NATIONAL INTERNMENT CAMPS for progressive enemies of the Republic......
Now that’s a pregnant thought. One can then wonder, to promote harmony, should the camps be segregated by race, or gender, or educational background, or wealth?
We know we can’t all get along so it seems rational to at least keep the havenots away from the haves.
Needless to say, we will paid for our work, so if we take another 10% of work time as vacation, it WILL be 10% cut in national GNP, which will flow down to EVERYONE, somehow - probably through inflation.
By the way, 10% of our GNP was about what we spent on national defense during the Cold War (when we were serious about it). Europe wasn’t even close to that level - so they had a lot of money to play around with there.
I worked in Germany for a month. Being there for a limited time and wanting to put in a lot of hours to get the project done before leaving, I made an offhand comment about wanting to come to the office on the weekend. Was the manager pleased? "No. You cannot do that. I would be arrested."
Not only would productivity be reduced by mandated vacation standards, it would become prohibited beyond a certain level. Remember the standard thinking of the socialist mindset: "that which is not obligated is prohibited."
Sure! Take a vacation! It will just sit there while you produce nothing. Aw heck, we'll even redistribute it, while you don't need it, and redistribute it back to you when you do!They don't realize that wealth stagnates, rots, and evaporates rather fast. If you're not creating or maintaining it, wealth goes away.
Economy is not a persistent zero-sum game.
In reality they are proposing harming those of us that have been with their employer long enough to earn 4 weeks of vacation. If they mandate the same for newer hires, then they are harming the experienced. More equality of outcome nonsense that harms personal motivation to be productive....
Before I retired we went to the Outer Banks almost every year. Best vacations ever. Now on fixed income just can’t afford it. Not complaining though because every day is a vacation.

I’d love to go on a vacation, only I keep ending up in debt because things cost an arm and a leg to fix because big brother’s screwed our money in terms of value. Knowing this and listening to them preach about how we need guaranteed vacation time makes me grind my teeth.
Currently about to be on the hook for around a $1000 to fix the evaporation coils on my A/C, and $625 to change the timing belt on my car. Imagine what those numbers would be if our money was still more than just green paper?
Vacation? I heard about those.
In 25 years, we’ve taken two trips that I would consider actual vacations. We do some long weekends and I just got back form a week of scout camp, but that was no vacation.
