Name One Tyranny Overturned by Popular Vote
Thursday, June 28, 2012 | Bob Ireland

Posted on 06/28/2012 1:25:01 PM PDT by Bob Ireland

For those of you who hope to overturn all these huge government power grabs by election this November, name one tyranny in history that was overturned by popular vote.

This week the SCOTUS has stamped 'closed' to the Constitution, state's rights, voter's rights... For almost a century the Marxists have been trying to run over the Constitution; this week it is signed, sealed and buried.

Once again I call for a Constitutional Convention of states with a view towards secession!

The country that used to be called 'The United States of America' will squabble and pettifog over all these issues, and of course the Democrap Party and their shills in the media will end up with everything they want. I say, 'Let them have their Utopian tyranny! Let us seek freedom!'

Time to argue secession and a new Constitutional Republic.

“Members of this Court are vested with the authority to interpret the law; we possess neither the expertise nor the prerogative to make policy judgments. Those decisions are entrusted to our Nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.” — Chief Justice John Roberts

Americans want tyranny.

I'm sad to admit that this is mostly correct. We just like it dressed up in pretty names like "protection acts" and "environmental safety."

It becomes more and more just a matter of managing the tyranny to a somewhat tolerable level. Today has made that infinitely more difficult.

***Hoping we are going to "Vote" ourselves free in a general election is like planning to solve your financial problems by winning the power ball.***

Fabulous metaphor!

As to a Constitutional Convention including the Marxists, I cannot see how that will end well. By hook and by crook the 'Left' always gets all their demands met... majorities never beat Marxists.

It is now a TAX and therefore easier to get rid of it. How many D Senators want to be responsible for voting in the BIGGEST TAX HIKE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD ???

***obama would not allow it. Talk about troops on the border***

I doubt the military would side with a dictator presidency. Besides, Obama has not attacked anybody... he is probably promising unilateral nuclear disarmament to Russia... the military will not have any part of that!

And “we the people” do not have the firepower to fight back

Really? You are full of Shiite. Just how big do you think the standing army is right now? 500,000? Not enough to occupy Arkansas, let alone the USA LOL.

But actually that is apparently just exactly what Roberts did.

While the rage at the betrayal of Justice Roberts will not go away for a while, he is right. It has been true since it was written over 200 years ago...

The Republic is dead.

It most certainly is and phoenix must rise from the ashes. The United States was the last bastion of hope for the world but thanks too "clever" jurists, we now have a socialist democracy and a wall hanging of parchment that means whatever the philosopher kings say it means. They can repeal ObamaCare, but the door for "taxes" to enforce government decrees is now open and any future congress knows it.

You’re assuming every gun owner would stand with the people. And you’re assuming every conservative would fight. And you’re assuming everyone on the other side won’t.

And how long do you think an army of people with shotguns could stand up to the high tech army we have today?

but we have made incredible gains over the last 15 years or so.

We have ... within most of the several States.

Federal law?

Not so much.

The 1994 Ugly Gun Ban was not repealed ... it had a sunset provision in it, and expired as designed.

In every other respect, Federal law has not improved in the slightest since 1986.

Run the numbers. Divide the number of counties in the USA by the number of active dut military. I did it once and got 15. 15 guys, an oversized squad, to occupy every county in the USA. This doesn’t count disaffection and sobotage.

He wouldn’t have to have an army all over the country. Just Texas and Arizona. California is on his side.

But I hope you’re right because it just might come to a war.

Sorry, the math is wrong it is 150 soldiers per county, not 15. Still a company sized unit is NOT going to occupy any county.

No! Robert's is wrong. It is HIS job to protect us from unconstitutional acts of government, even if 99% of the people and the politicians they elect support those acts. How big an army we have is an appropriate topic of politics, but compelling Americans to buy anything, and then fining them if they don't is not open to politics but subject to the Constitution. If that Constitution did not authorize an army, the size of an illegal army is also not a matter of politics since it violates the law of the land. Robert's cleverness is not nearly as clever as he thinks it is.

Good to see you're still around and mostly agree with you.

This my first post about this liberty busting decision. I've waited for people to sort this out and here is my opinion:

While it's now law that the Fedgov can dictate purchase of product/services OR pay additional tax, there was some curtailment to the ever over-reaching laws regarding the "commerce clause". That's a good thing. It's now "law of the land".

As I see it, our only hope is enough States get together and NULLIFY this decision. Then what would the current/future Executive Branch do? Send in the military to enforce against the States? Not likely. Even Obambi doesn't have the nerve to try that and force a State versus Fedgov revolution. No one has the stomach for a new Revolution nor a Civil War II.

With hold tax money to the States? Okay. That's one option for the Fedgov, but the States can also refuse to forward collected taxes. Again, what what the Fedgov do?

Don't forget there already some 3 States that have passed State laws against Obambicare. There were 26 States opposing Obamacare in this suit. If those 26 (or even less) decide to opt out, there is NO Obambicare. Of course that issue will works its way through the courts, also.

I see our only hope is from State Governors NULLIFYING this USSC decision and refusing to cooperate. There are no other remedies unless we maintain the House, get a filibuster proof Senate, and a President that will sign a repeal. I doubt the Senate super-majority will happen and don't trust Romney to sign. Tell me where I'm wrong.

What is not being talked about on MSM is the precedence this has set. As we all know, until Obambicare (and other Obambi policies/executive orders), the socialists have moved slowly and methodically to force their ideals on all. Give it time it will become a focal point about States' rights.

STATES' RIGHTS!
Liberty starts in your home State.
