[ We’re left with Romney’s promise to strike this down if elected.
Its a slim reed but I don’t see any other option. ]

We can always scorch earth primary him out of existance in 2016 if the GOP had ANY guts!

I hate how incumbents get “blessed” into a second term.

Courage if not a virtue, but the point at which any virtue is tested -- CS Lewis paraphrase

I truly do appreciate this paraphrase, but would you elaborate on the point you are making - I'm trying to fully understand this.

[ I’m one the hate Romney crowd (voted for Paul in the primaries) that will now swallow my vomit and donate to Romney’s campaign. I’m sickened that the Supreme Court just gave the federal government unlimited power so as to even allow it to force Americans to buy insurance or pay a fine. Sickening! ]

I live in a Blue state of Colorado so I will be choking down vomit to vote for Romney, but I will not donate jack squat to romney, instead I will only donate more to the state rep and senator elections.

Be ashamed of yourself if you don’t support Romney wholeheartedly.

Why, because he is the proud father of twins (Romneycare, now supersized, and Homo Marriage, on its way to supersize with no resistance from the fudge mitt)?

Furthermore, the Roberts fiasco shows the speciousness of voting for Romney "because of the SC justices he will nominate".

Let them all go to Hell.

It CANNOT be another Bush acolyte, like Rubio.

Hate Romney all you want but you have only two to choose from. Obummer or Romney. To not vote is a vote for Obummer. So now people need to decide if they are for the country or with Obummer.

The point is that to show courage in this situation would be to hold to the oath you swore to yourself and not vote for any RINO, meaning Romney.

My friend, let me tell you that the hardest person to forgive is yourself, and you would be right to hate yourself for betraying yourself after having given your word to yourself. Or, most simply put: you should not put yourself in a position where your conscience will eat you alive.

Don't vote for Romney; vote for someone of whom your conscience will approve. Understanding that Romney is not opposed to Obama on this issue; he is a socialist and his own Romneycare was the forefather of Obamacare. You are left with a Morton's Fork: where both choices lead to the same [bad] outcome -- keeping that in mind, breaking your word sounds like it will bring you only harm, being self-inflicted, yet meaningless, pain.

Yes, because voting for republicans is so different from voting for democrats. Who appointed John Roberts? Oh, yeah, President Bush did that. I guess his vote must be o.k. then because the President that selected him had an (R) by his name.

Sorry, but I'm just not playing their games any more. I suspect I'll be joined by many others.

The real Jeremiahs were purged from FR 10 years ago for saying uncomplimentary things about GW Bush. In the gutting of intellectual conservatism that muted some of the boldest and most articulate conservative voices refusing to cater to the GOP establishment, Free Republic has many sins to answer for.

Sorry, this is a Ranting Thread. Penetrating Insights aren’t welcome here.

Yes — of course you are right. America is a liberal project. It has always been a liberal project. Liberalism is in our DNA. What has happened today is merely another logical stage in an easily predicted trajectory.

Yes — this will not end well. This world is passing away. In all things God must and will be glorified — in the humiliation and ruin of the United States as well, if we fail to renounce the grotesque religion calling itself “American Exceptionalism”.

We are on the threshold of a terrible clarity. Come, Lord Jesus.

RE :”“The real Jeremiahs were purged from FR 10 years ago for saying uncomplimentary things about GW Bush.

10 years ago I thought GWB was a kind of hero, boy that was a mistake.

Fast Forward to today, I like the fact that I can be critical of Romney (and he is well deserving of it) without getting into trouble, It's pretty cool,

What ever happened to that momma Grizzy babe anyway?? Did she ever make it to the WH ?? LOL

>>You and I disagree on this. Your options are not the only ones a conservative can find; logic is missing from your conclusion. <<

It is called the “arithmetic” branch of “mathematics.” Assume there are 2 viable candidates (o and r) running and the electorate is made up of 4 people: Person votes for o. Person 4 votes for some 3rd party or doesn’t vote. Person 4 votes for r. Who wins the election? What would the rsult have been had person 2 voted for r?

It isn’t an opinion, it is an arithmetic certainty: a vote for a 3rd party/write in OR not voting is a vote for obama.

That is a FACT, not an opinion.

And it is a tantrum vote, since you can’t get the perfect candidate as the Republican one. We all wince at that but it is reality.

She dinked around and played coy for so many months into the primary trying to decide if she was or if she wasn’t , that she managed to have republicans all hating each other to the point there was NO ONE left but Romney!

There’s an article up that shes glad the Scotus made this decision because it will UNITE US......and keep her on her soapbox.

This isn’t intended as a dig at you.

In 2000, I saw George Bush for who he was. His ‘No Child Left Behind’, his ‘Kinder Gentler Conservatism’ (talk about a slam to Conservatism), and his fix for Texas education that saw him plaster over everything with tens of billions in additional expenditures, left no doubt in my mind what a jack ass he would turn out to be.

That doesn’t even touch on his campaign promise to get some form of amnesty for all illegal aliens.

We deserved everything we got from that guy, for being stupid enough to buy into him.

As you stated, it is great to be able to call Romney on his Leftist nature. If only we could have done that with Bush, we might not have melted down our economy, and deteriorated to the point that Republicans actually buy off on idiots like MeCain and Romarmalade.

Good to see you again.

I guess my unfair edge in this matter is that I long ago abandoned the notion that any Republican, elected politician or member of the judiciary could be relied upon to reverse this inexorable march towards godless secular statism.

News like today's, therefore, finds me relaxed, prepared and entirely unsurprised at its arrival.
