Will the 1991 Biography Discovery Force Obama to Open the Hood?
American Thinker | 5/26/2012 | Monte Kuligowski

Posted on 05/26/2012 9:15:05 AM PDT by Menehune56

Three possibilities follow the bombshell discovery that Barack Obama was promoted in 1991 through 2007 by his professional agency as an author "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii." (1) Obama untruthfully presented himself as Kenya-born. (2) Obama untruthfully presents himself as Hawaii-born. (3) Obama had no knowledge that his bio contained the 16-year-old "error" which was corrected in April of 2007, when Obama was gearing up his campaign for the U.S. presidency.

we just have to hope Gov. Romney is unprincipled enough to have surrogates and proxies do the dirty work.

Hopefully he won't have the capacity to stop us them.

there is still no real evidence he was born in HI.

There is still no real evidence he was born period.

Born in Hawaii, born to those parents, or born with that name.

For years I put forth the argument that there was no record of BHO claiming Kenyan birth. I no longer stand by that assertion.

Is this like...an apology...dudes?

No, it’s a statement of my opinion changing based on new information becoming available.

This is not a bio that was included on a book jacket. Even if it was, however, the facts would have come from the author.

The facts in some form, yes, but what they printed may or may not be the exact wording the author gave them. When you consider that the book wasn't printed or even written then, it's not certain that the "author's bio" was set in stone.

I can see Obama padding and reshaping his own resume to make himself look better -- financial writer and editor, rather than researcher and proofreader -- but can't quite see him making his father a "Kenyan Finance Minister."

However narcissistic Barack Obama is, I can't quite see him saying for publication "His commitment to social and racial issues will be evident in his first book, Journeys in Black and White." It's possible, of course, but there's just something about the language that makes another, institutional or commercial author a little bit more likely.

It sounds like he sent them a resume to let them know his credentials, listing a lot of facts about himself in resume form, and they reshaped what he gave them to fit their needs, making a few mistakes along the way.

Of course the claim could have come from Obama himself. Who can say with Obama? Any thing is possible with the guy. But that's not the only, maybe not even the most likely, possibility.

Think about what it took to print something back in 91. Computers weren’t widely used in offices for regular typing. That pamphlet had to be gone over a hundred times before it went to the print shop.

A promotional booklet intended for a few commercial users may not have been gone over as carefully as something intended for a wider public.

One possibility they were working off a resume he gave them. It isn't the "author's bio" that usually appears on book jackets.

Okay, look at it this way. Every other author in the business is asked to review their bio for accuracy. That is standard practice prior to publication. This bio was published not once but multiple times over a 16 yr period. Therefore, not only would Obama have been asked to review it originally; he'd have been asked along the way if it needed to be updated.

Now the argument on the other side is, ‘But it was different for Obama’. Meaning it doesn't matter what the industry standards are or what other authors are asked and expected to do; everything is always different for Obama. Special rules apply and special treatment is given.

I know that this actually is the argument because I have had long dealings w Obots and moonbats. [Not calling you either one; just citing my credentials.] At some point that ‘argument’ runs out of steam. An honest person is going to acknowledge that standard rules applied and Obama damn well did know what his bio said—he approved it.

Now the question becomes, did he lie then or when he claimed to be born in HI. I used to think he lied re: Kenya. Evidence is mounting, however, that the Big Lie concerned HI. Get back to me after the next Zullo/Arpaio presser, and let's talk again. I expect to have an update right about that time.

One more thing. The reason an author is asked to review their own bio material prior to publication is very simple. It's cheaper and less embarrassing to correct errors prior to paying for a booklet or anything else to be published than to make the corrections afterward. This was not a rank amateur lit agency. They knew the drill. Of course they asked Obama to review the final copy. To suggest otherwise is grasping at straws.

Okay. I don't know now, because it looks like they've been putting out this information for a long period of time, rather than just once. True, Obama wasn't a client of theirs for a lot of that time, but it's possible that he did review this information at least once and let it stand, however it was originally generated.

I think it's doubtful that Obama wrote what's in the pamphlet. I suspect it was created by the agency from information that he gave it. But however it was created, it's certainly possible or even likely that the shorter version got back to him and he saw no need to revise or correct it.

Well on this we find common ground. You suggest Obama submitted his basic facts and the agency turned them into a bio blurb. I say he submitted a bio blurb and the agency edited it until it sounded professional. Six of one and half dozen of the other.

The strongest argument on your side is just how poorly Obama writes when left to his own devices. I offer here a sample known to be his own work: part of an exam question from his U of C lecturer days:

“Law week, two men, Richard and Michael, walked into you office and asked for your help.

You learn that they are a monogamous, gay couple who have been living together for the past ten years. Both men are successful architects, and after devoting the past decade on their respective careers, they have now decided that they want to marry and raise children together.”

If that doesn’t make your eyes burn and your stomach turn, nothing will.

Hopefully you got a raise, as being an Obot sycophant just got that much harder.

More likely Birthers will just become more marginalized as none of that happens and people will move on to other conspiracy theories.

What's next, drop this and go on to the forged Selective Service application, or the multiple Social Security numbers?...Perhaps the missing college transcripts?

only an idiot or a obamite ( but i repeat myself) would believe that for 16 years 0dumbo neer once read his own bio

He might not have. It's not like he's a thin skinned narcissist.

I mean, does this really look like the face of a narcissist?

Aaaand there is the Birther problem in a nutshell...

Actual issues will never go anywhere (unreleased college transcripts, the author's bio) because Birthers skip right into their pet conspiracies and paint anyone who calls them on their nonsense as an O-bot.

Like I said, Birthers have so thoroughly poisoned the well with their stupidity that this will never go anywhere even when real evidence is found.

Close family member of mine is an editor and began her career as a Research Editor for a major international magazine. The protocol for verification of information in this magazine was extremely stringent. Authors were required to verify every detail once the copy was ready. Even today as an independent editor of biographies and other books, my relative has to follow very stringent protocols in confirming information for accuracy. A birth place published incorrectly would have been immediately noticed and the unfortunate editor or research editor would likely be out of a job and out of a career.

Being “born in Kenya” was street cred for Obama as he climbed the ladder academically. It continued to enhance his resume a budding progressive author. It only became a nuisance when he began to run for POTUS.
