Yet another Obamaoid has joined the Ann Romney-bashing brigade. Hilary Rosen, with her "never worked a day in her life" line, was infamously first. As documented at NewsBusters, the president of NOW subsequently derided Ann Romney as lacking in "life experience" and "imagination". Then, feminist author Michelle Goldberg attacked Ann as "insufferable," her writing as "creepy," and even compared her to Hitler and Stalin.
Latest to join the all-women lineup of Ann bashers: Betsey Stevenson. A former top economist in the Obama administration, appearing on Chris Hayes's MSNBC this morning, Stevenson accused Ann, along with Mitt, of "really having no empathy for people."

One more Obamaoid attacking Ann Romney. Ping to Today show list.
The Democrats do this stuff all the time, and no one bats an eye. If a Republican hints at any criticism of a family on the other side, it's time for "Oh! Oh! That crosses the line! I can't believe you went there!"
The double standard is tiresome.
What an absurd statement. And she's an economist, not a social worker?
American conservatives really are in a tricky position, because their opposition is fundamentally a bunch of crazy people.
She’s just green with envy.
I corrected your comment for spelling and grammar.
The double standard is tiresome.
Obama Hisself: Lay off my wife.
Mitt needs to step up and do the same.
It doesn’t look like Ms. Stevenson is following the White House healthy eating guidelines. She has no empathy for calories.
Well, one could say the Faux First Lady never had a job that wasn’t largesse or a kickback to Obama for being a Senator.
Likewise, one could say that her education (given to her) was not used (and even surrendered when she voluntarily surrendered her license to practice).
One could say that the Faux First Lady isn’t a patriot because she was never proud of her country until her career partner became a pResidential candidate.
One could say that the Faux First Lady isn’t in touch with the American Citizen because she is too busy galavanting all over the world on lavish, taxpayer-funded, gala vacations.
One could say that the Faux First Lady surely isn’t in touch with the fashion mores of the working women in this country because her fashion tastes run more towards Zimbabwe meets Barnum & Bailey Circus Tents.
And, finally, one could say the Faux First Lady is supremely hypocritical in her enforcement (via her husband’s agreeing sychophant administration) of dietary regulations for our young in schools when she sports a rear end that is worthy of a ‘lead’ and ‘chase’ car sported with WIDE LOAD signs.
I know, and it really is tragic. The basic premise of a two party system is that both parties bring something reasonable to the table, so that you have a steel sharpening steel effect. When one party is crazy you have a real problem.
Oh, the irony.
This will not work for the Demonic-rats. However, it does lay the groundwork for Mitt to start attacking Obama in relationship to his past associates, mentors, racism in the Judicial Department under Holder, the use of Air Force aircraft to become Michelle's private taxi service for multiple vacations etc. etc. etc.
Mitt has shown in the Primaries that he is capable of playing hardball. He will with Obama when the time is right.
A “top economist in the Obama administration” is an oxymoron.
Seems to me genuinely caring about people would involve a long, honest look at one’s economic policies, followed with an honest admission that said policies are not working, and finally, that caring for people requires the immediate abandonment of said policies in favor of something that will work.
That is, of course, if we are putting people ahead of ideology?
My guess is the Romneys have given more aid to needy people in one year than this woman has given in two lifetimes.
She is also fat and homely—typical lib female.
I particularly liked your description of Mooch-elle’s fashion taste!
Never. Sorry, but, never. That is the double-standard under which we live. After the horrid attacks on Sarah Palin and her family, including minor children, there are no rules anymore about attacking family members, even children. At least, on the Republican side. Everyone is fair game.
I do find this politically stupid, however, since Ann Romney seems to be Mitt's best asset (which is why she is being attacked) because she is well liked by the general public. Rather like Laura Bush was very well liked by the American public. I just don't see attacking her as being beneficial to the Obama campaign.
I'm puzzled as to why you felt compelled to change "no one" to "nobody"?
My thesaurus suggests that they're quite equivalent:
no one
pronoun
no one shed a tear when he was fired: nobody, not a soul, not anyone, not a single person, never a one, none.
Seems to me that the choice should be left to personal preference.
Grammar nannies don’t need to be right, they just can’t help themselves.
Altho I didn’t know Laz was one. Now, HG, on the other hand.
(whoosh)
That's the sound of something flying over your head.
You need to listen for the whoosh, too.
They can't attack Mitt, since he's got a track record of success running companies.
Obama is running against Ann because he doesn't have the record to run against Mitt!
Looks like the bar scene from “Star Wars.”
Typical moonbats....ugly on the outside, ugly on the inside.
I see Betsey is NOT on mooo-shells “move” campaign.
It’s really amazing how well these gals show their “understanding” of other peoples’ emotions.
Somehow their own emotions are never examined by themselves though. They only examine the emotions of conservative men and women. Without an ounce of humility they demonstrate their arrogance and their lack of integrity.
One more thing - remember the song in “Music Man” whereby the gossiping biddies of the town were immortalized with the lyrics, “pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little, pick, pick pick, pick...”
Well, these biddies remind me of the character that Hermione Gingold played in MM!
The Romney campaign ought to try to incorporate this melody into a short spot along with all their ridiculous quotes by these embittered women.
Hoping the irony of a supporter of a malignant narcissist declaring an opponent lacks empathy isn’t lost on folks.
Anne Romney should just go about living her life, being with her husband and family and let those who don’t matter... just rattle on incoherently as they always do. They attack, yell, shout, and spew their negativity... they are unhappy inside and it surely shows outside. They are NOTHING.
Continue on Anne Romney... you are garnering respect from people while the run about big mouths speak louder with nothing to say but... in the end it promotes the lady that you are. Press on...
Yes. She is jealous that Mitt and Ann are more liberal than they are. You are right they are green with envy wanting to equal or surpass the extremely liberal Romney’s.
What is this with all the attacks on Ann Romney? I hadn’t heard that she was running for president. So much for the war on women.
Not a good comparison...Romneys take care of their "people" little goes further than for their own. When you consider the millions they have I don't see Romneys as caring for any of this nation. They are devoted entirely to their own "clan" and will use this country to further their agenda for that 'Clan".
I find her as phoney as Romney and just as plastic...as do many others. Only those IN Romneys court would say she's “liked”.....most haven't a clue about her....or of Romney for that matter...they both wear masks glued tightly to their otherwise face we should know but never will.
If everyone would take care of themselves and their “clan” then we would not need the big nanny state.
Question about empathy and Obama: How does he manage to lecture others when his own half-brother lives in a six by six shack in Kenya? I couldn’t do that.
Caring for those of your own household and church is exactly what the Bible demands. Being forced to support the public at large is not.
Uh? What Bible says that? I don't see where God speaks of only caring for our own and those of just our church...in fact just the opposite...as follows:
Luke 6:33...... "And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you?..... For even sinners love those who love them...... And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you?....... Even sinners lend to sinners, in order to receive back the same."
So I don't know what Bible your using because the Bible contains more than 300 verses on the poor, social justice, and God's deep concern for both.
Deut. 26:12...... When you have finished paying the complete tithe of your increase in the third year, the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, ...To The STRANGER, to the orphan and the widow, that they may eat in your towns, and be satisfied.
Is. 58:66..... Is this not the fast which I choose, ....Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into the house; when you see the naked, to cover him?
And let's not forget Paul saying....Gal. 2:9..." Recognizing the grace that had been given to me, James and Cephas and John... gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we might go to THE Gentiles, and they to the circumcised. They only asked us to remember the poor-- the very thing I also was eager to do....(which were outside their faith)
And further socially....Luke 14:12-14...... "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return, and repayment come to you...... But when you give a reception,.. invite the poor,... the crippled,.. the lame,... the blind,... and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."
Furthermore my understanding of the Mormon church is many are "demanded" to give a tithe, and if they dont' there are repercussions for not keeping current.....that is not a church I would belong to for it flies in the face of what God says....2 Corinthians 9:6-9 Remember this:... Each man should give what 'he has decided in his heart' to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Oh my. Nothing you posted is incompatible with what I said. Nothing. However, you will not find the phrase “social justice” or it’s progressive definiton anywhere in the Bible. Caring for the stranger is not a requirement to care for every member of society through government redistribution of wealth.
Taken as a whole, the entire Bible does indeed call for the caring for one’s family and those in our home church first.
Finally, 900+ plus verses pertaining to caring for the poor? I have read the Bible three times. That claim is specious. Jesus was far more concerned with people’s souls. After all, it was Jesus who said “Do not worry about tomorrow, what you shall eat or what you shall wear, for your Father in Heaven knows that you need these things. But first seek the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, then all these things will be given to you.”
