North Carolina voters decide today whether their state should have a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.
This, as a new Gallup poll shows half of Americans think same-sex marriages should be legal.
Meanwhile, President Obama hasn't said anything yet about comments from Vice President Biden and a member of his cabinet supporting same-sex marriage.
Six months before Election Day, the White House and the president's campaign spent Monday dealing with an issue they'd rather be left out of the political discussion because, no matter what the president may feel, it's risky politically.
The White House played defense Monday, insisting nothing has changed in Mr. Obama's view of same-sex marriage - namely - that, while he opposes it, his position is still evolving.
"I don't have an update to provide you on the president's position. It is what it was," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters.
But In the last 48 hours, the vice president has suggested he supports the right of gay couples to marry, only to see the administration pull that back and say he was simply supporting equal rights for all.

Obama does a delicate dance? That’s how a girlie-man’s girlie-man moves!
I remain unalterably opposed to ‘gay marriage’ for the same reason I will never refer to a dog as a giraffe. Things have definitions steeped in history and biology which cannot be swept aside by pop culture attempts to impose new definitions.
That said I think we can all agree that gay marriage is well down the list of priorities in this electoral cycle.
His position will be ‘fully evolved’ in Nov if he gets a second term.
“......Things have definitions steeped in history and biology which cannot be swept aside by pop culture attempts to impose new definitions.”
It’s more of an effort by the Leftists, the atheist Left in their persuit to conquer, to destroy the National morality especially that taught, and championed by Christianity.
Christianity I have read remains in the 80% range as the national religious belief in this Nation still, therefore the Left have a major challenge before them, but they have all the tools including confusion, and not only the misinterpretation of what they are doing, but the lack of understanding that they are in fact responsible for it on their side.
North Carolina results will tell us exactly where the opinions stand since the media claims them to be a “Moderate State”.
