Obama to Make Iowa City Area Stop April 25

By Kara Kelly April 19, 2012

DES MOINES, Iowa – President Obama will make his second visit to the Eastern Iowa Corridor this year when he makes a stop in the Iowa City area April 25.

The White House has confirmed the president’s visit, but released no details about where he will be or what time of day he will visit. According to local sources, the president may visit the University of Iowa. It would be his third visit to the UI campus. The last was in March 2010 in the Field House. He also delivered an Earth Day speech on the Pentacrest in April 2007.

UI Security officials confirmed they expect the president’s advance team to be in Iowa City today to make arrangements for the visit.

Like his January visit to Conveyor Engineering & Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids, this will be an official White House event, according to a campaign official.

The day before the president visits, his wife, Michele, will headline a $250-a-plate Obama Victory Fund fundraiser in Des Moines April 24. The fund is a fundraising committee authorized by Obama for America and the Democratic National Committee.

“President Obama will address the community on Wednesday in the University of Iowa Field House.

Obama will speak about student loans and college affordability. The visit is part of the president’s two-day college tour that includes stops at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and the University of Colorado-Boulder on Tuesday.

The event is free for UI faculty, staff, and students; tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are available today at the IMU box office beginning at noon.

Attendees are asked to bring as few items as possible — they will be required to pass through security before entering the event.

The event will begin around 1 p.m.; doors will open to the public at 10 a.m.”

Hmmm, so Moochie and Obama are still flying in separate planes. Why doesn't Obama want to fly with his beard?

Are the mother-mooch and 2 mini-mooches also on different flights? When does Pooch-mooch arrive?
