Hilary Rosen: 'Spare Me The Faux Anger' On Ann Romney 'Never Worked A Day In Her Life' Remark

Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen wants Republicans to spare her the "faux anger" as backlash against her continues to build for saying Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's wife, Ann Romney, "never worked a day in her life."

The remarks were seen as an attack on stay-at-home mothers, being that Ann Romney cared for her five children -- Tagg, Matt, Josh, Ben and Craig -- as a housewife.

"Guess what, [Romney's] wife has actually never worked a day in her life," Rosen told CNN, referring to Ann Romney.

Ann Romney used her first tweet to suggest raising five children amounted to a job.

"I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work," she tweeted.

Politicos on both sides of the aisle condemned Hilary Rosen's remarks, including top advisers to President Barack Obama.

Many Indpendent and Democrat women bristle at Hilary Rosen’s statement, especially the ones who are older and actually stayed at home with their children. My mother did not work “outside” the home but she sure as hell worked inside the home. She was a nurse, cook, teacher, maid, and bodyguard to four children and a husband. Mom did it all without complaining. The younger Independent and Democrat crowd are the ones who swallowed the feminist clap trap that was fed to them over the past 40 years. You know that bs that feminism is all about “choices”. What they didn’t tell you is that when a woman chose to be a homemaker and raise her family she would be marginalized somewhere down the road by Hilary Rosen and her ilk.

Well, it all doesn’t matter right? Since her husband is akin to the anti-Christ, having founded gay marriage, heck, the guy even started homosexuality in the first place! I hear he also does things to dogs with a fork! OMG! Is there no end to the man’s evil?!

With all that apparently his wife would be fair game, right? No, wait. She isn’t.

See how hard it is when you’re a wingnut? Nothing makes any sense.

This long summer of hate has started already.

Liberals don't just hate in the summer, it's year round with them. They hate everything - especially Christians and conservatives. Liberals are repulsive and faux elitists who always think they are right - thus, their insanity.

Their women are usually hairy, she men, who think they have the same anatomy as males. They don't stay home because they hate kids, hate housework, hate gardening, and hate...The only place a leftist draft horse woman will grocery shop is in Whole Foods or such and pay $10 for a banana. They lack common sense, have no nurturing qualities and are physically, and mentally repugnant. Hilary is fits the description. The leftists are really quite nauseating.

And this is why Obama must be defeated.

It’s not just Romney v. Obama. It’s Romney v. Obama and all of his unvetted czars and bureaucrats and political hack mouthpieces. They all have to go, beginning with Eric Holder and working our way down to this blooming idiot.

Yes, you are right. But in the larger picture, Obama’s presidency has been a three year reign of hate, envy, division, and destruction. He actually makes Jimmy Carter look good by comparison.

I do not particularly like Romney. But this election must be about turning Obama out of office. The country cannot endure another term of this race-baiting, envy-stoking, arrogant, narcissistic Marxist-wannabe. Oh, and lest I forget, Chicago machine crook.

That is the point of this entire debacle.

Cynically the Obama campaign is trumping up issues to spark his base and distract independents from his record. The “WAR ON WOMEN” was just another political check mark.

The Romney campaign cynically has been boosting for weeks that his wife was their secret weapon to overcome resistance to Romney. They want this distraction as much as the W.H. wanted it because Romney has little to recommend him on the issues. He has that in common with Barack.

Me...well I remain disgusted that these are the choices this cycle and will not participate in this contrived war cooked up in the beltway by the strategists of these two camapigns. It’s not an organic issue that took on a life of it’s own. It’s one they’ve been pedaling for weeks to stir up emotion and partisanship to cause people to rally to their flags so to speak. It says a lot when they are each so weak they need to resort to these types of stunts so early in their campaigns.

They are politicians acting as politicians and I’m done with it. I’m not participating this election.

I guess by her reckoning, my mother, and most mothers of people middle-aged or older, never worked either. My mother grew up on a modest farm. God knows women don’t do any work there. She worked in a factory for about a year after she married my father, then I came along. That’s more than “a day in her life,” but really a drop in the bucket when you consider the serious career woman of today, who probably gets more work done in a couple of months than Mom did in a whole year. Of course, for the next fifty years or so, she was in the lap of luxury and idleness, making good meals three times a day for dad and me, doing laundry, cleaning the house, mowing the grass, helping me with homework, sewing pajamas for me at her foot-pedal-driven sewing machine, making me practice my musical instruments, running interference in the disputes of neighborhood children, caring for me during colds and flus and all the childhood ailments, nursing sick pets, being there when I needed her. She started her non-working day early in the morning and kept going until the evening. After I left home, she continued not to work, until she couldn’t not work anymore.

Thanks, Mom. I love you and I miss you.

Ann Romney’s diagnosis came just before Thanksgiving in 1998 after she had been suffering the year before with severe numbness and fatigue, among other symptoms. The diagnosis came as a relief of sorts, because she wondered if she might have Lou Gherig’s Disease. She described her first year with MS as being horrible.

“...The first year of the disease is horrible, because you just can’t stand living with this cloud that’s over you and that’s sort of moved into your body.”

During Ann Romney’s first year with multiple sclerosis, she was a very sick woman.

“I was very sick in 1998 when I was diagnosed. I was pretty desperate, pretty frightened, and very, very sick. It was tough at the beginning, just to think, this is how I’m going to feel for the rest of my life.”

Ann has MS. She should have held a cushy job before her diagnosis, so then she could draw disability benefits, courtesy of the taxpayer.

Ann Romney can and does have domestic help. How they run their family is none of anybody’s business.

Don’t like Romney; disappointed he is the nominee. But Ann Romney shouldn’t be besmirched for living her life.

No matter where this story goes (Rush just said Rosen has now apologized to Ann Romney), all Rosen did was to say exactly what liberals think and say among themselves. They do NOT consider a woman’s choice to stay home and be a full time mom to her kids a viable choice.

I have been around libs enough to have heard that attitude expressed (most notably when I was an at home mother). Very condescending. This may, alas, mark the end of the “Republican War on Women” So thanks, Ms. Rosen.

If Ann Romney had decided to leave her job - i.e. raising five children - someone would have had to take her place.

That is not what happened when The Wookie left her high paid job... so important was it that no-one replaced her.
