Come May 8th and then of course November,we will be losing one of the strongest voices for conservatism that we have in the House, Mike Pence. We here in Indiana will be (hopefully) gaining him as Governor but we are also faced with the task of replacing his leadership in the 6th District. Not an easy task considering the legacy he will leave behind. I have examined all the candidates and have made my choice. Having made my choice, I am now shamelessly promoting him wherever and whenever I can. Don Bates Jr and his wife Amy have lived in the 6th District all their lives and are now raising their two boys there as well.Don has been a financial advisor for 15 years and that fact alone is one of the biggest reasons he is the perfect choice to send to Washington. 8 out of every 9 Congressional reps are lawyers, which means that if Don is sent to Washington, he will have 8 lawyers to turn to with legal questions but those same 8 lawyers will only have 1 financial advisor to ask advice on how to get the best return on our money. In fact, nearly two years ago he was the only candidate that publicly predicted the loss of our AAA rating.

Some other things to consider:
*He has vowed to repeal Obamacare, a balanced budget and cut taxes.
*He is a Reagan Conservative.
*He is Tea-Party Endorsed. In fact he is the only candidate in the race to have both strong Republican Party AND Tea Party support.
*He is the only candidate in the race that has signed a pledge to defund Planned Parenthood.
*He is a very outspoken Christian but has publicly said that he will not run on this qualification alone.
*He is a very strong 2nd Amendment advocate.
*He and Richard Mourdock (running against Lugar) won the first straw poll taken in two of the biggest counties in the 6th District. In fact Don won by 60% of the vote!

First of all: I need something from you.

I need dates and exact quotes (not just hearsay) of when and where Don has ever said we had to raise the debt ceiling.

I need dates and exact quotes (not just hearsay) of when and where Don has ever been "to the left" of Messer on education. What are you talking about?

You appear to know much more then you are letting on so please show the proof. I have seen nothing from Don that would support anything you have said. You also stated in post 13 the following question "Did Don Bates support increasing the Debt Ceiling?" then proceeded to claim in post 15 that he said he we had to raise it.

I understand that you are a Travis supporter but you do need to provide proof not just ask questions in a hypothetical manner in order to slant the truth and try to shed bad light on Bates.

The debt ceiling had nothing to do with default. NOTHING. This “talking point” on default is a gop establishment fraud.

First, thank you for posting that interview. It is fantastic and I had not seen the whole thing before.I encourage everyone to view it.

In the abbreviated quote that you pulled from the video you capitalized two words “AVOID DEFAULT”, you failed to capitalize the one word that makes this relevant. The word “IF”. Bates is clearly stating what he believes the GOP would have done IF the situation had been one where a yes vote was required to avoid default. I can’t argue with that. If the situation had been that scenario, I have no doubt that more people would have voted for the bill. It wasn’t, so they didn’t. I don’t see the “gotcha” moment.

If we want to talk about fraud, the entire prospect of a debt ceiling at all is a fraud. The mentality of our government is that the ceiling can always be raised so therefore we don’t have to “really” stick by it, let’s just continue spending because after all, it can always be raised. As a financial advisor, that is why Bates has put such high priority on that fact that we MUST stop the spending.

Now Travis, that was an interesting road trip but let’s get back to your orginal questions and complaints.

*When and where has Bates every categorically said that we must raise the debt ceiling? (And I wouldn’t try to use the same video for this because it won’t fly. You know perfectly well that he is speaking about our ever increasing spending/debt.)

The Sixth District candidates will be debating tomorrow, Tuesday April 17th at 7:00pm in Pruis Hall on the campus of Ball State University. The Ball State College Republicans are sponsoring and organizing the debate.

BSU Debate Coach Mike Bauer will moderate the debate. Former Muncie Mayor Sharon McShurley and Ball State professors, Dr. Cecil Bohanon and Dr. Kevin Smith, will be the panelists asking questions.

I am on the committee organizing the debate, and we have some really good questions lined up.

As of tonight, all of the remaining candidates will be there other than Travis Hankins.

If you're in the Muncie area, come on out. Doors open at 6:30pm. Debate starts at 7pm and will last until about 8:30pm.

If you can't make it, the debate will be streamed live on the Star Press’ website.

Very excited about this debate! I am (as you can tell) rooting for Don Bates.

I encourage everyone to listen to one of his speeches or debates, this guy knows what he is talking about!

I had the privilege of hearing him speak with Mike Pence this past Saturday and once again it was awesome!
