In the face of Afghan President Hamid Karzai's call for the U.S. troops who burned Korans to be tried and punished, the White House won't say what will happen to those troops.
Connie Lawn with IRN/USA Radio Network asked White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, “Did Karzai ever express condolences for the British soldiers killed and did he explicitly apologize for the American soldiers who were killed? And what does the White House want to see done with these Americans who burned the Korans?”
“I think there is an investigation into that,” Carney responded. “You surely understand that I would not make any statements about the disposition of that investigation or how it should turn out. Secondly, I don’t have any more detail for you on the call the president had with President Karzai. I would point you to statements by Minister Wardak about the incidents and his expressions of regret,” Carney said referring to Afghanistan Defense Minister General Abdul Rahim Wardak
The Korans were mistakenly burned on Bagram Air Force Base.

According to Islam AFAIK the graffitied Korans should have been dumped in a river, or respectfully burned... was there a lack of respect at the burning? Maybe only a Muslim can touch the match to them?

I think the preferred method of disposal for a Koran is (strangely) to bury it...but the whole thing is just silly. If I read the Koran on my computer monitor, is it now sacred?
That being said, I pray that these soldiers are CONUS...and not in Afghanistan...so President Idiot can’t offer them up for a show trial and execution.
I’m a former officer in the Army; and, quite frankly, if Bammy tries to let the animals try these soldiers, this will be one of ‘those moments’. A moment where I would challenge my COC. The SOFA with Afghanistan does not include these types of trials, so get my men a lawyer, and fight it.

Question is, will 0bama tolerate the sacrilege of his religion for political concern in an election year?
The GOP majority in the House should pass a resolution calling on the Afghanistan government to apologize for the deaths of U.S. soldiers. Next they need to pass a resolution to warns the President that punishment of U.S. troops over this incident will NOT be tolerated by Congress. They should threaten impeachment hearings if he does. Next Republicans in the Senate should be clear that any military officer in the grade of LTC or higher that recommends or attempts to punish any member of the military will have their commission revoked....at a minimum they will not be confirmed by congress should they ever be selected for promotion. It is time to play hardball.

It’s not interfering with the CINC. The President doesn’t set the ‘rules’ of the military, but merely carries out the rules created by Congress.

General Allen should protect his men at all costs...was it two or four who were shot in the back of the head...this is now murder not war. H. Karazai should be asking how he plans to punish his men for this crime...but since Obama has joined Karazai's side and surrendered, General Allen will have to keep his troops safe from the White House and Karazai. What a foolish, milksoppy, fop as this CIC turns out to be. Hands off these brave American soldiers! Contact your elected that there had better be no "punishment" for these soldiers....they are not over there to protect the Koran. They are there to quell, get rid of al Qaeda.
