Donald Trump endorsed Mitt Romney for president Thursday, saying he's impressed by the Republican candidate's debate prowess and believes he could easily beat President Obama in November.

"Mitt is tough. He's smart. He's sharp. He's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country that we all love," Trump said in Las Vegas, telling the candidate to "go out and get 'em."

The real estate mogul, speaking briefly with reporters before the announcement, said that even though he "never knew" Romney before the race began, he's come to know him in recent months.

"His general attitude and the last two debates were very impressive," Trump said.

He also cited Romney's position on China, calling the former Massachusetts governor

It’s people like you who have brought us these s***** candidates.

The GOP had annointed both Dole and McCain well in advance because these guys were the old guard, it was “their turn,” and that was that. Probably any one of the others, had they had that level of support, could have run and possibly even succeeded. You fail to mention that neither one of the GOP’s golden boys was elected.

Somebody gets nominated, but for once, couldn’t it be somebody who wasn’t (a) destined for failure (because the GOP really doesn’t think Romney can win, but heck, he can proabably pay for his own campaign) or (b) who would really offer a vision for which Americans could cast an honorable vote?

Well, the fix is in. Always has been and people refused to believe it and put all of their efforts in trying to change the GOP but the “real world” finally caught up to them.

We have wasted all of this effort up to this point in the naive belief that we had some input to the political process but the smart ones now know we have no representation at all.

What’s the difference in running a third party and voting for a party that only is there for the fat cats? It will never change because they BUY their elected posts through graft, corruption and downright illegal actions. Nothing is going to change other than the ever shrinking freedoms we have.

Until we keep all of our donations to the party away, they won’t even know we have been missed.

If you hate it so much, why not go start a site with just your own ideas and opinions. And, one where you can slobber devotedly over your chosen one?

LOL, this site has gone absolutely bonkers! Tow the line! Get in step!

LOL! The Donald went from hero to zero around these here parts.

Honestly, who would be surprised? The Donald is a big money country club Republican. Romney seems like his logical choice.

Maybe this is a real white elephant gift to Romney. Whatever Newt (or Santorum) are, they are not plutocrats.

Well, Trump could have done the right thing and redeemed a lot of himself. But he did not.

This is still better (less bad, rather) than Trump trying to third-party it. And it underscores the class war going on in the GOP itself. I say there needs to be a redneck revolution and Newt with all his gaffes is still the best spearhead for it to be found.

“I’m fed up with all of this crap to be honest now”

I think that’s what they wanted to achieve. They want to deflate the Tea party. Don’t let them take your initiative, your drive, your mojo. Become the AntiRomney Tea Party. Help create the AntiRomney zeitgeist...shout it out, write it out. “ Flaunt it!”

Okay, so who? Who in 1996? Who in 2008? Who now? Who would have been a better candidate who could have won?

The GOP had annointed both Dole and McCain well in advance because these guys were the old guard, it was “their turn,” and that was that.

Here's the funny thing: in 1980, it was Reagan's "turn" and that was that. He was the guy who came in second last time.

You fail to mention that neither one of the GOP’s golden boys was elected.

Kind of hard to read what I wrote and say that I failed to mention that Dole and McCain lost. My point was that just about any Republican would have lost in 1996 or 2008. From that you conclude that I thought or said that Dole or McCain had won?

Probably any one of the others, had they had that level of support, could have run and possibly even succeeded.

So you would have been happy with Romney or Huckabee or Giuliani in 2008? Or do you think Keyes or Hunter or Tancredo could have won if the party had backed them? Seriously?

It might make some sense to nominate an ideological purist as a statement of principle, but pretending one could win is sheer self-deception.

The GOP is still trying to triangulate when it could win a red meat victory.
