Obama to appear at hearing; attorney Orly Taitz says it will be '100 times bigger than Watergate'

A Georgia judge has ordered President Barack Obama to appear in court in Atlanta Thursday for a hearing on a complaint that says Obama isn't a natural-born citizen and can't be president.

Orly Taitz, the California attorney who brought the legal challenge to Obama's name on the March Georgia presidential primary ballot, says this is what she has been working for over the last three years.

"This will be 100 times bigger than Watergate," she said Saturday morning, referring to the scandal that brought down President Richard Nixon in 1974. "There are high ranking judges and federal officials who are involved in this cover up. The ramifications of this trial will be enormous."

Taitz said she expects the president's legal team to fight his appearance in the Georgia court.

"But he's in a catch-22," she said. "If he is appealing this decision, then he looks guilty. The whole nation understands this man is a fraud."

Taitz has led the "Birther" movement that insists Obama is not a natural-born U.S. citizen. She is also familiar to Georgia courts.

Orly on the other hand is arguing about fraud, identiy theft, SSN's.... The judge is going to tell her none of that is relevant. Because legally, it's not. Even if the things Orly is arguing are true, and Obama committed multiple felonies, that does not make him ineligible for the office of President. The ONLY thing the judge is concerned about are the 3 requirements mentioned above. Orly has done more to HELP Obama than anyone in the country, by allowing the media to frame all "birther's" as those 'crazy' people who believe Obama is not an American Citizen, or that he was born in Kenya.

They are not ALL crazy. It's just that "Birthers" are not lawyers and are emotionally involved in "righting" Obama's "wrongs." Just about everything HE has told us is either false, or subtly parsed to avoid telling us that which he wishes to remain hidden. It is possible that he was born in Hawaii. He hasn't proven it. It is possible he was born in Kenya, or Vancouver, or in the dugout at the Polo Grounds, it's just that we can't prove that. There was a guy in my neighborhood who shot my dog. I know it. The police knew it. The whole darn town knew it and no one could do anything about it.

Of course, Obama is not a "Natural Born Citizen" as it has been traditionally held over the years. That in itself should have been enough for at least 1 (one) Secretary of State to bar him from a state ballot. I fear that is the only way to get this slippery character into a court on the issue.

Let's see if the GA officials get themselves beyond the legal tom-foolery and find the heart to merely do their jobs. Get a sitting President, legitimate or not, to respond to a subpoena from a State Administrative Hearing Judge, when he doesn't want to respond? That'll be the day!

The guy who shot my dog threatened to sue me for slander. That trial would have been the only way to get him to court, and I would have welcomed it. Of course, that never happened. That's what Obama needs to have happen ... he must be forced to court to sue us for damages. We know exactly who shot our dog.

I heard the same thing on the local Conservative Talk Radio Station - which runs FOX News - earlier tonight. Although, they didn’t say the “whether or not part”, just that he was leaving (I don’t recall them saying exactly when). I’ll see if I can’t find a link to something on it - tonight, or tomorrow. Sorry I can’t remember more details - I heard it as I was heading out of the room for something.

Obama has eluded capture as a defendant. Therefore, he must be made the plaintiff if we are to get justice.

Excellent observation.

The approach has been prevent any other legal actions from getting to the 'discovery' phase. Thus, the only thing argued would be what was put out on partisan blogs like Fact Check, Daily KOS, etc. Note that there has never really been a legal counter punch to the the claims. And if the claims are so off there would be lots of opportunity to sue for things like defamation.

But what is happening in Georgia is not a trial, it is not even a civil suit. It is merely exercising mundane legally defined election procedure. If and even now it is still a big IF the SoS declare Obama ineligible and it is upheld on appellate review then the roles reverse. To fix this the candidate would need to become the plaintiff. Something they are not apparently at all prepared to do.

By not showing up at all today the strategy seems to be to hunker down and pray for a favorable decision. They will not even have a real chance at the appellate level since they will have no evidence on the formal record. And will not have an opportunity to introduce additional since that is not part of the defined, mundane appellate process in Georgia election law.

Even though White House Insider says all the main players are atheists that may change. All they can do now is pray for a favorable SoS decision. So the atheists may have found God today. As the real war saying goes - 'there are no atheists in foxholes'.

And today they are simply hunkered down in a foxhole as the shells drop today excising the only strategy apparently available - praying.
