UGH, I loathe those 2 men. This was the defining moment when I officially began to HATE John McCain and knew he would never win the election. Newt is no wimp like McCain was.

Newt is a genius with humanity, including the flaws and foibles that implies. I think it’s a magical combination for a politician. We want someone we can relate to but also someone who can achieve great things. Newt is a conservative not because it’s been programmed into him as an ideology, but because he’s smart enough to know that conservatism works. Conservatism is the pragmatic choice. It gets the best results. A person can be great without being perfect. If the doubters of Newt can wrap their heads around that last concept then hopefully we can unite behind him and make his momentum unstoppable all the way through November.

Hubby and I will be there. Allen West is also speaking. FreepMail me if you get to make it. I know many great patriots in South Florida who will be there too. And some are FL Freepers too. :)

Romney did indeed congratulate Gingrich, early in the speech. Then went on to slam him repeatedly.

This Perry supporter and her husband voted absentee for Perry last weekend. I really thought he’d stay in the race until after the SC primary, but he did the honorable thing and dropped out and graciously endorsed Newt.

If that makes me an idiot, so be it.

BTW, all of the candidates’ names were still on the ballots, even though there were signs up saying that Bachman, Cain, Huntsman, etc. were no longer in the race. So I figure there were people who voted for them even though they’d already dropped out.
